funmi abeg u and hannibal should save that play for later, this thread should not be derailedOk; warn him to stay off my behind because i'll fart straight in his face. |
I don't know sha, I will be saying no now but you can only make such decisions when it actually comes, I would prefer to marry somebody bright in the academic aspect but it does not mean if a guy comes my way and I really like him, I will totally brush him off due to his lacking in academic intellectWhy the preference? Is it because you want to assure you'll have bright kids assuming you are a genius yourself?. |
Seriously, i know many geniuses in the classroom but weak minded when it comes to applying their knowledge on the streets.Hannibal don come again? Na 3rd class e carry comotoo. ![]() |
No.Roflmao ![]() |
To put it explicitly, someone with a higher IQ than me is more like it. Tongue I've never been attracted to dunces, sorry. So he must be a geek or nothing for you? geeks can be perverts oh. Imagine a genius like Michael Jackson who never had a formal education, will you pass on him because he doesn't have academic knowledge? |
Hell yeah!!! Nah . . . not for the stupid excuse she usedIs academics the only true test of intelligence? |
stingy people-IjebuIs stinginess peculiar to only Ijebus? If not, your claim is flawed. |
I'm attracted to the academically brilliant. As in he must be a first class material or never? Do you know there are so many factors that can retard somebody in school and not only academic incompetence? . Na im be say Pataki no get hope for ya side. ![]() |
. . . Erhhmmm it's a big deal for me . .Why? |
How true is the belief that our attitude and personality are dependent on our culture? Are there special characteristics that you can guess in a person just because of his/her race or tribe?. Can you prove that those attitudes are 100% peculiar to that culture or race? |
sm people think when one is dull academically that means d person is wasteYou are somehow in my mind. I may have to show her this opinion. Your name keep depleting everyday. I read somewhere that it was Jelila kadiri(lol). Guard this new one before you'll run out names. ![]() |
I've been arguing with a girlfriend of mine on the importance of high IQ. She supported her elder sister for refusing to marry her boyfriend who fits 90% of her desires in a man but for the fact that he struggled during his school days. He studied engineering(5 yr programme) for nearly 8 years and managed to graduate with a 2nd class lower. The girl argued that making children with such man may overshadow her high IQ and she may end up with a child who is not bright academically which may be a big hindrance in the child's chance of becoming successful in life. She argues: "what will be her children's chances of going to medical school in a highly competitive society like this". My question is: Will you pass on a suitor because of this excuse because I think it's frivolous unless am missing something?. This guy in question took his time again in America and got an MBA although he never worked with any of his degrees and they are suspecting that his GPA after the MBA may be below 3 points and that's why he didn't get a job with it. |
Presidency to scrap NNPC By Adeola Yusuf, Reporter, Lagos Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)would be abolished by end of October 2008, the Presidency said on Tuesday. The Federal Executive Council (FEC)has already approved the reform and the Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum Matters, Emmanuel Egbogah, who dropped this hint in Lagos, disclosed that the Presidency was waiting for the Senate to pass the Oil Industry Bill before it. Fielding questions from newsmen at the 2008 annual pre-conference of the Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Egbogah said that talks were on between the Senate and the Presidency to ensure that, "the bill is passed within two weeks". Abolishing the NNPC, according to the Special Adviser, was "a part of the bill because an act establishing NNPC must be repealed before a new one can take effect". "Now that FEC has approved the reform, what is being awaited is for the Senate to give assent to it, and meanwhile, the President is waiting to have a proper discussion with the Senate so as to accelerate the process of approving the new Oil Industry Bill." Saying that the Ministry of Justice and office of the Attorney General were involved in the whole work, Egbogah added, "Everything is ready, it is just to go through the normal process of giving it the Senate's assent." The Presidential aide on Petroleum Matters had earlier said that the Presidency was not looking back on its resolve to explore the nation's enormous gas reserves, which he said a recent study by the United States Geological Survey (USGS)estimated to be "as high as 600 trillion cubic feet". Presenting a paper entitled "Gas and the Nigerian Energy Industry", Egbogah said: "Beyond the resource potential, Nigeria also has a significant gas market potential. The export LNG market has seen tremendous growth lately." The NNPC's account was not audited for over six years between 1999 and 2005. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as Minister of Petroleum, failed to audit the NNPC account between 1999 and 2005. When the Hart Group, a London-based auditing firm, audited the accounts in 2006, it found discrepancies in the books. The former President rejected the report, while the EFCC promised to investigate the discrepancies, but this was never done. The corporation accounts for 75 per cent or more of revenue accruing to the Federation Account. Obasanjo signed Decree 33, the statute establishing the NNPC on April 21, 1977, as Head of State. It provides in Section 6, Sub-Section 1 that, "The Corporation shall keep proper accounts and proper records in relation thereto in a form which shall conform to the best commercial standards." Sub-section 2 stipulates that, "The Corporation shall , after the end of the financial year to which the accounts relate cause its accounts to be audited by auditors appointed by the Corporation with the approval of the Federal Executive Council." Granted that the decree set no deadline, but it certainly did not provide that the accounts should not be audited for years. Under Sub-section 3, "The auditors shall, on completion of the audit of the accounts of the Corporation for each financial year, prepare and submit to the Corporation reports setting out: (a)general observations and recommendations of the auditors on the financial affairs of the Corporation for the year and on any important matters the auditors desire to bring to the notice of the Corporation and, (b)detailed observations and recommendations of the auditors on all aspects of the operations of the Corporation for that year." http://odili.net/news/source/2008/oct/15/710.html |
EFCC slams 44 fresh charges against Igbinedion, others By Emma Anya, Tony Amokeodo and Adelani Adepegba The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed 44 additional charges against a former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, and six others. https://odili.net/news/source/2008/oct/15/punch/images/pix200810151473525.jpg former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion The new charges bring to 191, the number of offences Igbinedion and his co-accused now have to defend at a Federal High Court, Enugu. The new offences, however, led to the adjournment of the trial of the accused by the presiding judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati, on Tuesday. Hours after the adjournment, two Senior Advocates of Nigeria — Dr. Konyinsola Ajayi and Chief Yomi Akintola— and a human rights activist, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, demanded the resignation of the EFCC Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, for claiming that the files on 31 former governors investigated by the commission were missing. During the resumed hearing of the case against Igbinedion and the six others, their counsel told the court that they needed time to study the 44 new charges which also bother on money laundering and corruption. Igbinedion's lawyer, Chief Adetunji Oyeyipo (SAN), told the court that he needed two months to study the fresh charges and reply as required by section 36 of the 1999 Constitution "We have flipped through it and found there are at least 44 new counts, and in these new counts, we observed that no fewer than 26 concern our client ( Igbinedion)," he said. The senior advocate added that there were additional proofs of evidence of about 300 pages attached to the charges by the EFCC. He argued that since the prosecution had ample time to prepare the charges, "the accused person ought to be given reasonable opportunity to defend himself." "Due to no fault of ours, we are forced to apply for an adjournment of this trial, but if the prosecution is ready to proceed with the existing charge, we are ready because we feel that giving us less than one hour to go through the new charges is unfair and out of tune with the law," Oyeyipo said. He also applied for the return of the ex-governor's passport to the custody of the court. The counsel to the other defendants in the case agreed with Oyeyipo's submission. But the EFCC counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs, opposed the application, saying it was 'ridiculous' for a counsel to study an amended charge for such a long time. He reminded the court that members of the public were watching how the case was going on and accused the defence of applying all kinds of tactics to delay the case. Jacobs urged the court to give the defence counsel not more than two weeks to study and reply to the charges , but the court objected and granted them six weeks. In Lagos, Ajayi, Akintola and Aturu berated the comments credited to the EFCC chairman that the files on 31 former governors investigated for corrupt practices were either distorted or missing. Speaking in separate interviews with THE PUNCH on Tuesday, they said if the comments by Waziri were true, she had no business staying a day longer in office as the chairman of the anti-graft agency. According to Ajayi, the utterance of the EFCC boss was a national embarrassment that called for her resignation without further delay. He said, "It is a national embarrassment and she should just resign without further delay. "It is a disgrace that files that contain investigation of certain national officers on alleged corrupt practices could be said to be missing. It is unheard of and it is unbelievable." On his part, Akintola said he believed that Waziri was misquoted, adding that the files could not disappear, as the EFCC is a public institution. He said, " I think she was misquoted . She can't say that the files are missing, having risen to the post of an Assistant Inspector-General of Police and being the EFCC boss. "It can't be true that she will say that, because she will be putting herself on the firing line of her detractors. "She must look for the files because the EFCC is a public institution, otherwise, she will just give herself away to her opponents. I don't believe that she said that." Aturu, in a statement entitled, EFCC's Missing File: Ridiculous, said the "files must be found by all means or Madam (Waziri) should excuse herself or be excused by the National Assembly" from the leadership of the anti-graft agency. Aturu, who said Nigerians needed the particulars of the missing files and those in their custody because "the war against corruption cannot be permitted to be aborted by those who have a stake in the continuation of graft." But the commission on Tuesday, assured Nigerians that it had not drawn the curtain on the investigation and prosecution of the former governors. A statement by the commission's Head , Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said the assurance was neccessitated by what it called "misleading reports in some newspapers over comments" made by Waziri in response to questions asked by participants at a round table in Abuja . Narrating what transpired at the forum, Babafemi said, "A participant had asked why the commission was yet to prosecute the 31 ex - governors that the former chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, claimed were ready for trial. "In her response, Waziri denied inheriting 31 case files on ex - governors, stressing that she had been working on what she met on the ground in addition to fresh evidence she had been able to gather against the former public office holders. "She had said 'we work on facts available to us and not on speculations. There are no case files on all these people as being suggested. We are now beginning to investigate and prosecute some of them. "Truthfully, I got there and what I found is what I am working with. I work on the case files. I tried to see if there was prima facie evidence or if there was nothing in the case file or there was no case file at all. There is nothing I can do than to start afresh. Therefore, there are no 31 case files on ex-governors as claimed. Before arraigning anyone, there must be facts; there must be evidences; and there must be witnesses. And these are things we are working on quietly to put together before we can take any of them to court." The statement added that at the moment, 11 former governors were facing prosecution while some others were being investigated. "It is, therefore, misleading to suggest that because the present leadership of the commission did not inherit the 31 case files, the commission cannot build up evidence against those that have questions to answer", it added. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/oct/15/411.html |
I was humiliated over 419 – Pastor Adeboye By TOPE ADEBOBOYE Wednesday, October 15, 2008 General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has given details of a humiliating experience he was once subjected to at an international airport while visiting a foreign country. The respected cleric narrated how he was given a thorough search at the airport as soon as he tendered his Nigerian passport, saying the immigration officials became more suspicious of him when he claimed to be a pastor from Nigeria. Pastor Adeboye, who spoke with a team from Zero Corruption, a magazine published by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), lamented that corruption has virtually destroyed the image of Nigerians outside the country, regretting that most foreigners now regard all Nigerians as fraudsters. Said he: “The moment they heard that I am a pastor, that’s when they decided that the search must be thorough. In fact, they told me that I must preach a sermon! They asked me the last time I preached; I said last Sunday. They asked for the topic, I gave them. What was the theme? I gave them. What was the Bible passage? I gave them. “At the end, they apologized, saying, ‘in your case, you are genuine. We have caught Nigerians who say they are pastors but who are fake. We have seen people who travelled with what is supposed to be a Bible and inside they had cut off a portion of it and put in drugs.’ In a situation like that you find the innocent suffering because of the misdeeds of a handful of people.” The man of God linked the alarming growth of corruption in the Nigerian society to the collapse of family ethos as well as the debasement of teachers by the government. “Teachers used to be honourable people but we debased them,” he observed. “We must do something to bring the teachers back to the position of honour that they were before things can begin to go right.” He also regretted government’s seizure of schools from religious institutions, saying the forceful take-over has contributed to the current rot in the society. His words: “The church used to be the educator. All the schools were run by missions, at least most of them. Only few were government colleges, like King’s College. In the olden days, in the morning, before you go to classes, you pray, somebody in the school will say a word or two about God. But they threw God out of schools when they took the schools away from the missionaries. The children come to church once a week now, but they are in school five days a week. If we really want things to get back to normal, we have to restore things the way they were in the olden days. “When we talk about the family also failing, in the olden days, many a time the father would earn enough to feed the entire family. Now, papa would work, mama must work, so there is little time left for parents to look after their children. So when we are looking at corruption as a very big monster, it has several roots and we must go to the root of it, not just cut off the branches and expect that the end of the story will come. We must go deep.” Adeboye also reiterated that Nigeria would eventually become a great country that would be envied by the rest of the world, even as he advised Nigerians to be optimistic about the future. “I know what God told me that a day is coming that the same people who are ill-treating us abroad when they see the Nigerian passport, they will want to touch you because they would have been convinced beyond doubt that God is in Nigeria. It doesn’t look like it now, but that is what is going to happen,” he affirmed. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/oct/15/504.html |

What are the chances?I think jealousy comes from inferiority complex and as long as you believe that you are the hottest man or woman on the planet in your heart, you can beat these odds. |
What to do when jealousy happens Here are four steps to help you turn jealousy into a positive force: 1. When you feel jealous, realize that it is a sign of how much you care for your partner. Make a point of being affectionate and caring. Tell them just how special and great they are. Chances are, they will focus even more attention on you and forget about anyone else. 2. Journal about the negative self-talk that jealousy brings up for you. For every negative statement, write a positive one. For example, if you write, "I have ugly acne," add a sentence like "My eyes are a gorgeous blue." This will actually help you rewire your brain circuitry in a positive way! 3. Notice what qualities make you jealous. Is it the fact that the other person is in great shape? Or that they are sensual? Make a plan to work on yourself so that you develop some of those same qualities. 4. When you are feeling jealous, think about what you might need from your partner. And use positive and straight talk to ask for it. For example, you might say, "Honey, I would love it if you would rub my shoulders and kiss the nape of my neck." When jealousy goes too far Of course, some of us have chronic and major struggles with jealousy. If you have the same scenario playing out over and over again where anger and fighting keep erupting, you may have a serious problem with the green-eyed monster. This often occurs if your partner has cheated on you in the past or if you are terribly insecure about your attractiveness to your partner. The painful saga may drag on with one lover after another. It results from picking players or people who are not into you or provoking good partners into unfaithfulness with your constant accusations. “Serious and chronic jealousy is a type of paranoid self-talk that destroys love.” Serious and chronic jealousy is a type of paranoid self-talk that destroys love. With this kind of severe jealousy, it is best to go into individual or couples therapy to work out the deeper issues. The ultimate goal is to not allow jealousy to create negative self-talk and destructive comments and behavior. Instead, use spurts of jealousy to help you develop more positive self-talk, to be a better person, and to create more love in your life. |
yeah health related surgery indeed.Prejudice is a big problem among Nigerians. We believe what we want to believe without looking out for other factors yet we will turn around to crucify the police for doing the same in criminal investigations. Do you know her very well when she was alive? What if she had a weight related health issue that needs that sort of medical attention? I said it that this Obasanjo is ugly and blah blah blah has a lot of animosity and envy engraved in it. |
And by the way, where do you people get this useless men and worthless "friends"?Aren't 2 out of every 3 of them useless? ![]() |
ok |
Ok, I am lost. . . .and I do not know what you're talking about. Huh By Naijabarbie, Shocked No, in all seriousness u guys. i only told her based on fact. both women that he was sleeping with were in my group of friends. They only slept with him casual like (booty call), but they didnt know that i knew. (They didnt want to tell me because i was once his girl) And i was going to keep my mouth shut when i was told by my best friend, even when i saw the post that he was engaged. Its only her attitude and cockiness later towards all my long time friends, and his continuous lying that made me decide to do that. it was to set him straight, what he thought she would never find out, since she didnt live in our area. |
uncle Sege is 80 something I think. |
I think it's simply pathetic to break up with someone and then try to get revenge. Those guilty of that act are usually the dumped ones but the girl in question here at lest was honest about her escapades. For some reason best know to her, she decided not to address the issue of her 2 friends that slept with her EX. That's nairaland for you. people should reserve their rights to answer or reply to comments they wish and ignore the ones they don't want to and i do that many times everyday. She shouldn't be found guilty of contempt just because she did not address that issue. |
Are you just pulling our legs. Come one have you seen any pictures of Obasanjo lately? Juxtapose it to a picture of monkey or an ape and no joke the resemblance is quiet uncanny. An the humility of his family I can't say much about. Didn't his wife die while getting plastic surgery? You don't know the real reason why she did the surgery. It could be health related. Show me Obasanjo's latest picture and compare it with pa Ajasin's(RIP) and tell me who looks better? |
No because we all know what Obsanjo looked like in his 50s/60s and it was no where as good as Zik.Were you even born when he was 60? How can you predict how he looks when you don't have a picture? |
@postIsn't that what most Nairalanders have been doing?. I suspect that more are guilty of this act and not the girl or the guy that posted his ex's boobs online. |
Well it's a pity I can't find any of his pictures presently. Since there is no picture to prove the assertion and none of Azikiwe's octogenarian pictures, will it not be better to plead no contest on both accusations? |
by rebels i mean groups like the FARC or shining path. hand grenades would cause lots of unnecessary civilian deaths.I know. I was just messing with ya. |
Shocked Shocked :oNonso, gay? GOd forbid Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy, For that statement I am returning the "Bugga boo" I got you at Buy Buy Baby as a gift for Deepni Dude is soooo gay. |
He has never looked even 50% as good talkless of better. Sorry, Funmi. Is this a sincere comment or was it made with a lot of animosity towards Obasanjo and his humble family? |
Sexy from where? Grin Grin, Don't let Hannibal hear you say so oooo, Grin Grin Grin, I still think Emeka Ike is more handsome than Yemi. Too bad he is already spoken for jare.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my case, Yemi outshines them. Nonso on the other hand looks gay to me. |
