The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has sentenced a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Joseph Nwobike, to one month’s imprisonment for perversion of the course of justice.
The court convicted Nwobike of 12 counts bordering on the offence, sentenced him to one month’s imprisonment on each of the 12 counts but said the sentences would run concurrently.
Justice Raliat Adebiyi, who pronounced the verdict on Monday morning, said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission proved beyond reasonable doubts that the SAN was in constant communication with court officials to influence the assignment of his cases to his preferred judges.

BREAKING: Lawyer, Nwobike Found Guilty Of Bribery

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORK

APR 30, 2018

Justice Raliat Adebiyi of the Lagos State High Court has found Dr. Joseph Nwobike, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), guilty of a one-count charge of attempting to pervert the course of Justice.

He was found guilty for offering N750,000 and N300,000 gratifications to Justice Mohammed Yunusa and Hyeladzira Nganjiwa both of whom are judges at the Federal High Court.

Joseph Nwobike who has been facing an 18-count charge was however discharged and acquitted for seventeen count charge.

Nwobike had previously pleaded not guilty to the criminal charge but was found guilty in a trial charge by Justice Adebiyi.

Justice Adebiyi said that Nwobike "is found guilty and convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice"

Praying the court to ensure Nwobike was punished for his act, counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo told the court that a person found guilty of pervesing the course of justice is liable to two years imprisonment

He added that if the court fails to give such judgment it would amount to turn the law upside down.

Juatice Adebiyi ordered the court to go on a short recess in order for her to prepare her sentence.

That is the money PDP is salivating on plus the recent increased crude oil price at$75.
They want to come and resume their looting from where Jonathan, Diezani and Dasuki stopped.
That's why they are begging and apologising without returning their loot.

Let's see if Nigerians will swallow the PDP bait again.
PDP is day dreaming. Affliction cannot rise a second time. With the little oil money coming in, we see all the infrastructure project currently going on all over the states of the federation

Please Watch this video. Note that taxes in New Zealand were extremely high so reducing taxes was a good thing. Nigeria's case is the exact opposite.

Thanks for sharing the video. We can all learn from each other. Even the "Rogermonics" in New Zealand, took time to take root. from 1984 into the 21st century. That is like two decades. Let us give our own "Buharinomics" time to take root and germinate, so that we can have something to point at in the future..
Like I wrote earlier, certain things will take their time...
Thanks for your love and zeal to see Nigeria grow into its full potential .

The bolded is my main issue. How many children have lost the opportunity at getting an education in the last 3 years? What becomes of these children in the next 10 years? Are our insecurity issues getting better or worse by the day? Are we not already in a crisis situation?

Recently, Buhari said that if he did not get an education, he may have become involved in the Fulani herders and farmers clashes. Buhari was given free education by the British. The British collected taxes from Nigerians, stole to their wishes but still had in sense to provide quality free education to Nigerians.

Buhari remarked that parents must do their best to give their children quality education.

How many developed countries have a similar education system to Nigeria? Across the world quality basic education is a right and not a privilege. This older generation will never understand this. Even after providing quality education, a person with no ability to pass still has the right to a comfortable living wage. This is essential for an economy to grow.

In Nigeria we have no government, just rulers that are looters. We provide everything for ourselves. From security, electricity, water, housing to education. This same president called the youth lazy because they expect him to do his job. Governments job is to collect taxes and provide shared services to the benefit of all. When will be have good leaders?
Yes the realistic thing is the gradual process. As the head of the family, you have a need of 200 naira and you are currently generating 10 naira. The realistic thing is how to move your revenue generation from 10 naira to 20 naira because you have been generating 10 naira for so long and most people are used to that. Nigeria overpopultion is already a huge problem. And that is what Buhari inherited. You took an obese person to the gym, and you want him to lose all the extra weight overnight?
If the efforts that Buhari is applying has been there before now, we will not be in such a big hole that we are today and to climb up is now a herculean task. Already, some people are used to free money. To wean them off that is not going to be a easy task. It can only be a gradual process, otherwise the whole system will collapse under its own weight. The situation is like trying to repair a moving vehicle. It will take a lot of effort, time and patience. You are trying to repair the foundation of a house that has people living it. You talked about the British Colonial rule, what was Nigeria population then? How many people were able to afford British Education then? Mind you, primary school education is under the state Govt. Are you aware that the newly introduced school feeding program has increased school enrolment in many states? Even at that, many still criticise the Federal Govt for running such programs. There is also the UBE where FG has made available some bilions of Naira . Only for some state Governors to meet the criteria to acess the funding, they are reluctant. Under the constitution, state Governors are not accountable to the President. Im glad you watched the video where Buhari was appealing to the moral conscience of the Governors. We run a federation, but prople are fixated with the President, leaving their Governors, Local Govt Chairman, NASS members to do as they like. Sometimes they share the loot with their Governors only to turn around and blame Buhari. Forgeting that we are in a democracy where State Governors dont take orders from the President. This is one other reason while the change will be gradual. We need so many things and our current revenue is so small compared to our needs.
Finally, there are some problem that you dont solve overnight even if you have the whole money at your disposal. One of such is infrastructure. Some of our current problem is around infrastructure decay.

Uncle Jonathan was obviously a criminal. No objective person will argue about this.

The issue with Buhari and Jonathan's generation is that they do not understand Nigeria's problems and even if they understand the problems, they have no interest in solving them.

When the ND militants started their kidnapping and violence, Yaradua choose to set up the ND ministry. What is the main reason for the ND agitation? Is it not wide spread poverty. Is it only the ND region that faces wide spread poverty? This was before Boko Haram started their madness. I am shocked that a ministry for NE has not been created too.

How do you solve wide spread poverty?

1. Tax the rich massively on the houses and cars.
2. Invest in quality healthcare and education and subsidize the prices for the poor.
3. Maintain the value of your currency at all cost even if it means sacking unproductive government workers.
4. Invest in electricity.
5. If increasing minimum wage will have little effect on inflation, raise minimum wages.

Richer people tend to have savings and also purchase a lot of imported goods. Poorer people on the other hand, have no savings and spend most of their money on food and shelter which directly impact the local economy. Any shift in money from rich people to poor people will have a dramatic multiplier effect on the local economy. Trickle down economics has never worked anywhere and only leads to the poor getting poorer.

We need leaders whose primary focus would be on improving the lives of the poorest in society, the uneducated, the artisans and the common masses. In our democracy so far, only Obasanjo has come close to being this kind of leader.
If you have been following all the Tax drive and attempts to get the RICH to pay their taxes, for instance the VAIDS programme, you will not say this about Buhari Govt. The increase in tariffs on luxury goods and recovery of loots etc.. They are doing a lot on this front. You may not see the effect immediately, but these are the restructuring going on that will lead to future revenue for the Govt. People are used to status quo but Govt is determined to make the necessary change. Though may be gradual, but it is happening. This is why they are against Buhari.

As more and more revenue is raised, more money will be pumped into Infrastructure, provide electricity, health and education for Nigerians.

It went as high as $146 before falling to $29 the same year during the Yaradua administration. Our excess crude account reached $22 billion ( if my memory is right) but also fell as oil prices fell.

During Jonathan's regime, oil prices averaged upwards of 90 dollars per barrel.
Between 2012 and 2015, according to the Debt Management office, our total debt also soar from $48 Billion USD, to 63 Billion USD = $15 Billion USD.. There was no improvement in our infrastructure. What did Uncle Jonah, do with all that moneyhuh

Updated April 27, 2018

The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of a major Boko Haram suspect “believed to have masterminded most of the recent attacks in Benue State.

Aminu Yaminu who is nicknamed Tashaku was arrested on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital by a combined team of troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade, Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services, the army said in a statement.

“Following an intelligence report, it was gathered that Aminu has concluded plans with his cohorts in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and Nasarawa states to launch a major attack on innocent citizens in Benue State,” the statement by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 707 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, read in part.

He said the arrest was part of efforts of the Nigerian Army to rid Benue State of criminal elements.

“As earlier reinstated, Nigerian Army will ensure enemies of peace in the state are brought to justice. Nigerian Army encourages all law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses without fear,” he added.

The army called on citizens to provide it and other security agencies with timely information that could lead to the arrests of criminal elements in the society.

Since January 2018 when suspected herdsmen attacked communities in Benue killing 73 persons, the state has witnessed an upsurge in attacks and killings with thousands displaced and many more living in fear.

On Tuesday, this week, gunmen attacked a Catholic church in Gwer East Local Government Area killing two priests and 17 worshippers. Hours after, a community in Guma LGA was attacked and 13 persons were killed.

The continued killings had led to outrage and both the House of Representatives and the Senate have summoned President Muhammadu Buhari to address a joint session of lawmakers over what is being done to halt the attacks and killings.

On Friday, the Benue State House of Assembly summoned Governor Samuel Ortom to address them over the security situation in the state.
