onegig: What isp do you use?

And how do you connect to the internet? Through a modem, public wifi or what?

It is the isps server that handles DNS....So maybe you contact your provider.

Also i got this link for you...You might want to follow it up since you are pretty good with cmd commands.

e-enable the firewall
connect to the router/modem per usual
get a command prompt (start->run->cmd) and enter
ipconfig /all >myTCP.txt
now copy the entire contents of myTCP.txt and
a) paste into your follow-up

From there we can move to something....
Givrn onegig's advice please consider the followings

By Default in most computers DNS server addresses are obtained automatically. You need to change it and use open dns. Its recommended to use Google DNS. i.e 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 . Or you can find the best dns servers for your computer.

One you change the dns server addresses, restart your computer. Clear cookies, Cache , Browsing History from your browser settings. Try to disable add-ons and see if its works. If you still get a problem try to use in private browsing.

If all the above steps fail, go to Google Chrome settings, Click on show advanced settings and under privacy you would find “Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors” just remove the tick from the check box next to it and restart chrome.

otumfour: Search for BOOM in the Mac AppStore.

It brings a big improvement to the Mac speakers and especially if ur using the 15" MacBook Pro.

Also, playing music via VLC player helps cuz it's volume is separate from the system volume.

Hope this helps.
VLC, I loved it.

Given adewasco2k's diagnnostics, please consider the followings.

What's the make and model number of the laptop ? e.g. Toshiba P300 Windows vista

ATX Reset
If you have had any issues with you computer and phoned the help line
number one of the common things they will ask you to do is an ATX reset,
Basically this just resets the power supply in your computer and in most
cases can solve some power issues.

Disconnect the power from your computer.
If possible remove the battery and external devices.
Hold the power button for about 15 seconds
Put the battery back in the computer
Reconnect the power
Press the power button to turn on your computer

If no joy, get back to us.

Slatemsk: Pls help, when i on my laptop dis is what show up
The device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. It may not be completely inserted or may have some other problem. Please read and complete the following steps in order:
1) press the device completely and firmly into the bay
2) power off the system
3) press the power button to retry detecting the device.
Press esc to ignore error and continue.
So wen i press esc it says NO BOOTABLE DEVICE
pls what can i do my laptop is dell
n other words, your drive failed and you installed another drive, (probably larger size and
different brand name and now your BIOS does not recognize it under devices most likely when new
drive inserted you can't see the CD-ROM either. What's the laptop make and model number ? for example,
Dell 1520 Windows Vista.Restart the laptop pressing f2 to get to bios, when in you are there navigate to
diagnostics and run a hard drive test. if no joy press f12, boot to the diagnostics
and run hard drive extended test. It sounds like either the battery or the drive (floppy or CD-ROM) is not seated correctly. On the bios screen underneath system, look for boot and make sure the hard rive is on the list. have you just install a new hard drive and is it seated properly.

3RNEST: format ur pc....
Given 3RNEST suggestion. We would like you to consider the followings.

Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Once in device manager, look for network adaptor, orcan you see any conflict i.e. yellow signs

Please refer to your modem isp website for compatibility. what is the made of your laptop and model number.

you could also visit control panel through the start menu and look for programs and features then try uninstalling the modem and then insert it and install it automatically.

adewasco2k: Yes i totally agree with you but hey, he didnt mention the model of the PC and as an engineer i do see alot of people with such problems on older models and backdoor password always works...wait!!! did you say software? oooh! i never suggested a software...i said backdoor password grin
The correct procedure is to first try a backdoor password. It's well documented on the internet.
After that, we can now think about removing the Cmos battery or short the Pin. In Nigeria, I wouldn't
advice a self employed technician to do it. its risky ! if you have a business insurance, then fine.

The situation is different here in Cambridge, England. we have business insurance. it is advisable to contact the
laptop manufacturer to short the pin. E.g. Toshiba, Dell and the likes. In a commercial environent thats the standard procedure. A procedure has to exist for their to be consistency. I sincerely agree with samuel and adewasko

@Samuel, backdoor password rarely work on modern laptops or a PC. but works on bios year 1994-2004 there about. so
cheesy well said by you. Adewasko, you're also right as well. Love you all. wink

Computers › Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m): 11:09am On Jun 13, 2013
deji2009: Its a common problem often referred to as "battery memory effect". googlt it and read for yourself.
In the meanwhile plug the charger to the laptop and make sure its plug into the mains, i.e. there is
"Nepa" light, so that the laptop can be assessed. please restart the laptop and keep pressing
F2 until you see a blue screen bios, go to power managment and it should state installed, not installed,
ac adaptor type cannot be recognised. let us know . is the charger original one, i.e. dell charger or is it
universal. Please find attached
wunmi2odun: Well, I did exactly what you told me to do and this is what I found. Under the Power management...I found only USB. And under the system then under Battery Health, I found this; AC Adapter = Unknown device installed. also, there's a battery meter that reads "Idle %0 charged". Pls what do I do? huh
Always wait for your battery is low notifcation before charging it,
this is know as battery memory effect. if your battery is full charged
remove it and use it on battery and then charge i agin when you get the notifica...

How to perform an ATX reset:

Disconnect the power from your computer.
If possible remove the battery, charger and external devices.
Hold the laptop power button for about 15 seconds
Put the battery back in the computer, let the battery run down so
that the laptop turn itself off then connect the charger to charge it
Press the power button to turn on your computer
and check the battery icon on the far right should say charging
if not you could take the laptop a computer centre and ask them check the battery or
try another one with a charger or vice versa. Good luck with that

stano2: i just bought dat battery 3months ago and the adapter lastweek...it problem started 2days ago but was normal before .....someone told me about BIOS Update..please do u know more about BIOS updating? Thanks
Please refer to our previous post. I would advise that you do not install a new bios.
There is no need and don't think it would make a difference. take it a laptop shop and let them test
it with different charger and ask them to f2 bios > power management as I have previously advised

GrAnDwEeZ: yeah tanx. .said i got a new laptop dell inspiron m5030. .does not have bluetooth. .but came with a disc for driving out some of d hidden gadgets. .there' is bluetooth, wifi and some other stuff. tryd installing the bluetooth which was successful. Askd me 2 activate which i could not. .nd d wifi keeps telling me my system is not compatible. .any help plz
onegig: also from experience you need to press the fn and f2 keys together to activate the bluetooth. Your wireless should be installed already but if its missing the dell cd always contains lots of similar drivers this is because they lump 4 to 6 different model drivers together in a cd. Try the diff available ones. Also please note the bits of your system either its 32 or 64 bits and install the appropriate driver for it.
Have you tried what onegig adviced. okay, click start, computer , system properties
and look for system type. is it 32 bit or 64 bit ? it got to be compatible.

If after pressing fn and f2 if still doesnt work, visit the dell website and search for
the bluetooth drivers speific to your laptop and system type, i.e. 32 bit or 64 bit.
could be the bluetooth was disabled in the bios, but rare ?

Let me advice you, in the future try and write in full sentences. This is why,
people are more likey to read and reply to your post.thats a secret !

Please reply us again, e.g. "tryd stl" I found it difficult to read and most
people would thought he or she hasn't got the time to complete the setence,
so why bothering themselve to type in full sentence. This are what we
looked at when a customer ask for support at my work place in cambridge, Uk.
I am very sure others will agree with me. if you could repost the problem so that
people understand it. Thank you !
Computers › Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m):
v3: It could be several things; Battery, Charger. Have you tried to charge it with a compatible charger? Did that work for you? The battery has probably reached it's lifespan or is too weak to retain any charge it gets. Is it an original battery or the second hand type? Find a laptop with a similar battery to test yours with.

Let us know how it goes.
Given my colleague advice, please
answer the questions.After that, please
consider restarting the laptop pressing
f2 to bios and navigate to power management.
Note what its stated and let us know.

The power management should state not installed
or ac adaptor type cannot be determined.

onegig: even if the wattage is correct sometime most of this chinko adapter no dey last more than 1 week. You said its new but most adapters been sold 4 1k and so on are fake and substandard. Go get a new adapter and i can assure one hundred percent it would work. If you can get the follow come chargers(i mean tokunbo) it would even be better. Original dell chargers cost not less than 3k.
stano2: yap it stated AC adapter unknown but its new nd original and 90W and dont even over heat...please help me, nd also tell me about BIOS update and God Bless..tanks
Given my previous suggestions to check the charger stats in the bios,
It basically means the laptop cannot recognised as original, either you conitue using it
o rget the one that it recongnise. at the bak of the charger should state 19v or 18v. check it
and compare to the v at the back of your laptop

Farouk senior: ...oga I appreciate ur help o..bt dis ting b lyk witch..see I did exactly wt U̶̲̥̅̊ said..after re-installing de synaptics, the mouse button moved just slightly nd stopped again..
Given onegig's advice, please consider doing the followings.

visit control panel and look for mouse
At the very top check each tab and make
sure synpatic setting slide is in the middle.

Also, check pointer option and make sure the
slide is in the middle. if you have an external
mouse, could you try it please. If no joy
visit this link and download the driver specifically to
your laptop. before doing that click start, computer,
system properties and note your system type, e.g. 32 bit or 64 bit
after you have established that, please visit http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
and select acer, aspire then the model number, now try alpine toucpad driver
and see if that make any difference. in reality the synaptic onegig advice should have solved it.

I take it, you dont have any third parties touchpad software installed ?

after installing the alpine driver please restart the laptop. if that doesnt work, we could
try safe mode and then turn the clock back to a time when it works.

tdjeans: Hello,
Please I'm having issues with my MBP 8.1. A friend accidentally spilled a drink on the keyboard and I immediately (less than 2 seconds) shut down, wipe out the MBP and left it to dry for about 4 hours.
When I turned it on, the keyboard because extremely sticky but fully functional. I used it for a few days in that state and it was still working perfectly, so I attempted to clean the keys myself after watching a few videos online but I ended up breaking my Z key and I had to consult a "professional" to assist (didn't mind paying for a good job)
The dude torn down the whole system and removed the keyboard from inside, I noticed there was still residue from the drink on the keyboard but no other parts including the logic board, so help poured a whole bottle of methylated spirit on it and used a brush and fixed it back into the system.
Long story short, my keyboard doesn't even work at all now, it is no more sticky but fully not
functional. I mean fully.
What can I do please. Replace the keyboard?
You know what, just get a cheap windows laptop there in nigeria and
fix your mac when you return to the state. that's my advice for you
Ok. Is it possible to salvage any data from the hard drive?
Dear Sir/Madam,

Given sameolg616 advice on : 11:26pm On May 26 I'd advice that you
get a usb enclosure from a shop and connect to another computer
through a usb cable and click start on the other computer, then my
computer if xp or computer if vista or windows 7 then click your
hard drive and navigate to the necessary section where your data is
kept. given the amounts of data you current have, you may need an external
hard drive or a usb stick to save the date or to the host computer.

Raymonbell: yes in osun state
I would advice that you check the hp website for an update to
the wireless adapter. use google to find out how you can get to device
manager on your laptop to find out the current version of your wireless adaptor
then compare it to the one on the hp website

some hp models are known to have a problem
connecting to WiFi. search your laptop model on hp website
read the wireless update and bios before deciding. always read the
small print before downloading anything. very paramount !

Owing to other factors it can be hard
to diagnose a wireless problem in Nigeria. Best bet is to
contact an engineer where you live
