When the machine first starts again it will generally list some
equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc.
At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with
a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.

click start, run and type in msconfig untick the antivirus u 've just installed and any other programmes
you deemed necessary and click apply and ok then restart later .afterwards

I'd like u to do a system restore. click start , all program mes , accessories, system tools and system restore select
a date when everything was working fine follow the instructions

marvelling: Microsoft.net framework refuse to install on my laptop. Am beginning to think my system is at fault. Pls what should I do to my system for this software to install? Any time I click run, it begins extracting the files. But as soon as it finishes extraction, the programme disappears as if I never tried installing it.

and make sure your laptop is running through the mains and install window's update
This would install all update as well as .net frame work. In the long run, it is better to do it this way. if you
need .net frame work to play a game or run a piece of software, why cant you visit the vendor's/software
website and see if you can download the framework? Most vendors usually have it on their website. if it is a
software try opening it and see if you read the readme. txt notepad or check the software instructions

The laptop is toshiba, i would appreciate if U guys can help me out with the product key.

Its against the rules and regulation that was laid down by the moderators.
Your best bet is to take to a repair shop for a genuine Product key

The last time I experienced this, I was able to do disk clean up from 'safe mode' and it stopped.
It usually update itself most times when I shutdown because I always go online, but the last time it wanted to update it stopped half way showing 'configuration failure' and remained like that.

Given the previous diagnostics by my colleague, please restart the
laptop and immediately keep pressing f11 for bios. scroll down to diagnostics and
run me an hard drive test and take note of the result passed or failed with warranty Id code

If you have enough battery power or your laptop is running through the mains
and on the same screen run me a memory test and jot down the result.

do you have an antivrus on your laptop e.g. Norton or kerpesky AVG ? any important data on it ? I was pondering if
we can reset to factory settings that way you'd start fresh. Given what you have said I think
this laptop would continue to have problems. The solution would be to re install just don't take my
word for it. Let see what happened after the system restore

marvelling: Thanks I'll try it this evening. By the way its the version 4.0.30319 I was trying to install I downloaded it from the microdoff.net website and till now its not installing on my system.

KnightsTemplar: what version of net frame are u trying to install. Some operating system will require you to install a lower version of net frame before installing a higher version. Or your installer is just corrupt u might as well try another copy.

Debeloved87: i have formatted it b4,but more than a year ago. Its zinox smart, a mini laptop with no cd-rom. I recently installed avast antivirus, thou the installation was about 80% done when d light was interrupted and it was working when i put it on again. I discoverd that it takes alot of my mb and i was trying to uninstall it. I then restarted the computer and pressed f8 in order to get me into the safe mode and till now, i am still at that point... It only uses window xp. When i click on the "disable automatic restart on system failure" it show a blue screen which says a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer..a technical information of STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF8965524,...).
Any lead pls

The error indicated that your hard disk is corrupt due to the fact the
computer did not copy the complete system files to the hard drive

Without safe mode repairs, repairs would be difficult to
run, i.e. check disk or sfc /scannow. in the meanwhile get external cd rom
and connect to your laptop then check your bios usually by f2 to change boot order to
cd dvd and put in an xd cd make sure you complete the previous installations.
without completing it to o 100% the laptop will continue to give you problems.
this time around make sure you complete it. there are no shortcut

Debeloved87: the system tries to boot the OS Windows xp but couldnt but rather restarts all over and when it wants to boot the OS it restarts again...i av clicked all the options i posted above its the same thing, it tries to boot and load the operating system,hang abit and restarts.. That's correct ! I would advise you take back to factory settings, all data will be lost
if you don't have anything to backup restart it and make sure laptop is plugged to source as
the process can take 45 minutes or longer. Then keep pressing f11 to start recovery manager
system recovery no backup then follow the instructions to finish.

Make sure no usb or anything attached before doing the recovery. This is the easiest solution for you

The shock could be caused by your wrists being in contact
with a piece of bare metal or maybe even a constant static
charge. Check the casing for any anomolies.
Most likely theres a component thats touching the metal
casing somewhere that may be charging it.
It could be just static electricity that has built up.
Clear any dust in or around the laptop and check any wires for tears or rips.

Better still look for onegig on this forum he may be able to help.

or take it to your local shop

Jameel263: Yeah, it apears to be resuming and not rebooting, because even if I pressed the f8 itz not responding. In trying to shut it down i press and hold the power button til it went off, cause the windows is not even loading so i think it is the only option to shutdown the system. I restart it again and it hangs as previously describe.
