Rhemmymatician: Power is out atm o. But if I do the f2 thingy, which shd it ideally be on empty/idle or unknown. And then I saw your advice to sum1 else abt removing d battery and removing d static electricity, shd I try that too?
Or should I just leave their thing jeje until dey come back for it
Dear Rhemmymatician,

I would advise not to try ATX reset, its unnecessary.
when you f2 to bios, pls navigate to power management
and it should have an empty cylinder or square with the
status idle, unknown or the adaptor type cannot be determined

4llerbuntu: been having issues with my office network due to change of ISP.

turns out the sysad i used to have configured the former ISP, (Swift) on the server as gateway, Picked a static IP for the server in series from the gateway.
picked the networked printer as the 2nd static IP. like 1.0.0.1, 1.0.0.2, 1.0.0.3 blablabla

All the other clients on the LAN network apparently on auto -ip assigns

network was dependent on the swift hub (i think) for dhcp and auto ip address assigning to 10 clients and any wifi device.

engineer claims dhcp was done by the server. I checked, network router stauts said dhcp is off om that network.......

anyway, i have since removed the swift hub and plugged the ethernet cable in directly into the server. the chap got it rigged in such a way that the SWIFT HUB was doubling as a router huh huh huh
whenever swift had network issues, my network was behaving funny too! angry angry

i plugged in the new ISP hardware into the spare port on the cisco switch and picked the gatway IP et al to config the server and pcs around. it worked...... a while

but the catch now is, some clients after a reboot dont get on the network, keep showing IPs from the OLD SWIFT CONNECTION!

what do you think is the problem? i know its obvious but men, blow me, aint no sysad.

when i release and renew ipconfig they get back to normal, but i cant keep doing that for about 5 systems daily lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

thinking of installing DHCP on the server (win2k8 ), set a range, then changing the DNS on all clients to the server's static IP instead of the ISP's DNS.

am i on track? or i got it all wrong as usual?

Then again, if i dont pick .....1, ......2 for the gateway/server/printer statics does it matter? i used an arbitrary number in the range for the static (server, printer) already. do i have to change them to .1, .2 .3?
You would be better off paying someone to fix it for you.

onegig: whats your operating system. Seems like a virus attack that is disabling it. Also there is an option for what the system should do if there is a failure. Set it to automatic restart service.
cheesy yea on first, second and third failure it should auto restart the service or the
computer. @onegig could we advise him to try system restore in safe mode. there is a reg fix for
this problem but i wouldnt advice it because other problems will come up again. if all fails
I am afriad to say, we have to advice @poster to reinstall windows

If system restore fails please try creating another account in control panel
through safe mode then login through that account. if it works through another
account we think about data transfer if any.

ImmaOla: my hp pavilion DM4 has recently been showcasing some signs such as taking time to load after startup (really slow), programs load slowly, folders open up slowly, my windows media player stopped working. all this started some three weeks ago just after i uninstalled d avast antivirus on my laptop. it is a new laptop. your help would be greatly appreciated...thanks
ImmaOla: secondly, the bluetooth of my compaq 615 laptop which have been using for a while now stopped working some few months ago. d bluetooth icon is not displayed again and whenever i troubleshoot the problem, it always displays that its working properly. av searched and installed d drivers both online and offline bt no changes still.............any help pls
Having identified all of these problems,
I would advise that you backup
your data such as pictures, music, videos
and anything that's important to you. In practice,
I would have reset the laptop back to factory settings.

Given all the problems you've had, its better to reset it.
If you don't want factory reset, you can go to a technician to try and fix it.

Once you backup your data.please get back to us and one of my colleagues would
talk through how to start a system recovery outside windows. in the meanwhile, please
backup your important data. The system recovery would reset it to how it was when you bought it.

please make sure there is plenty of power going to the laptop. The process would last between 1-2hrs.
Before the recovery make sure the HP WIRELESS AND BLUEBOOTH IS on so system recovery can install the drivers.
After system recovery please ensure you install windows update and any other important update.

people don't know. I personally ignore this type of post, I don't know
about others. it make it difficult to read and does not worth spending my

you'd need to invest in another computer. you'd could ask him or her to

instead of it gather dust and you end up throwing away, at least you'd get something for it.

hanem: Hi,

I have an Acer Travelmate 7730. The battery has just run out, and the power adaptor is not charging the battery. I have tried taking the battery out and plugging it in, but nothing happens. There is a green light on the power adaptor. When I plug it back in, including the battery pack, nothing happens.

I've tried using another acer power adaptor, but the same thing happens and I have no idea what to so next. Any suggestions? I want to spend as little money as possible.
Dear Sir/Madam,

Please answer these questions in order.

Any LED light on the laptop, i.e. green or orange ?

Insert battery and charger and ensure there is Nepa light for you to test it
by following this instructions. Please do not attempt it with a generator.
This could shorten the motherboard creating static electricity and may render it useless.

Keep an eye on the laptop two LED bulb on the far left near the touchpad. ensure you keep both eye's.
Using your right fingers, connect the charger and ensure there is power going from the mains source into
the charger. Using your fingers, wiggle the charger from left to right, up and down. wiggle it so that
the LED light we light up from the far left and you'd see it. This could indicate a bad dc jack inside the laptop. you've have previously tried another charger so it is the laptop at fault. Please find attached photos of what to do and
a dc jack that correspond to your laptop. Last resort is to change the dc jack .I would recommend technician like sameolg616,adewasko, onegig, femi and Adetwin IT concept. check them out on these forum.

v3: It could be that the drivers for the modem were not properly installed. Connect the modem to a different USB port and see if the same error pops up.
Given v3 suggestion. I'd like you to connect the modem to
a different computer and test it ? do you have Norton installed or
antivirus firewall that may prevent a connection. what if you take the
laptop a different location, any signal ? also connect the modem
click start, computer, view system information or my computer, system properties then
device manager. any exclamation mark or yellow sign ? have you attempt to uninstall the modem
software from add and remove programs after that you then insert the modem to auto install the
drivers software automatically.
