Jameel263: Hy, People in the house please help.
I hibernate my Toshiba mini NB505 Windows 7 ultimate in the night at about 9pm. I forget it like that and sleep overtook me. The following day morning, I turned it on, trying to resume but when it shows the brand name i.e “toshiba“ it hangs and failed to load the windows. I waited but to no avail. So, I press and hold the power button to shutdown it. I reboot it again but it also hang at the brand name without loading windows.
So please help me.

sapienman: Thanks a lot boss.
I restarted in safe mode and I also restarted and ran the hard drive test.
During the hard drive test, when the progress gets to 34% it hangs and doesn't proceed.
Also, my pc is not connected to the internet. Can I browse on how to do the system restore on my phone? I use a blackberry
click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools and system restore

Here's the problem with my pc.
After turning it on, before booting, it shows a page with options 'Repair' and 'Start Windows normally.
After choosing either of them, it shows a window that says the pc has some errors and asks if I want to repair it. If I click 'Repair,' it shows a window that says 'Repairing windows.' It continues for hours without any difference. Please what shall I do?
It's a small hp netbook, with intel atom processor.

tunnex190: Yes the caps lock flashes intermittently.
Restart and press f10 to get to bios

and run a memory test pls connect charger

if memory test passed considering taking to a
shop to a new memory to test it that way u'd know
what else to try. is the keyboard working okay
could be a bad motherboard

e.g. toshiba p300-20h windows vista
How was it downloaded ? e.g. by hoovering

tunnex190: I have already tried to use either memory stick to see if it is one of them acting funny yet it is still the same.
Okay pls follow prev instructions and run me a hard drive test, pls check prev message.
The steps kinghttemplar is going through and that other is called process of
emimination, if i try this, does it work so keep trying but it would point to failling hard disk or
motherboard at the end of the day.

tunnex190: I, personally know it is a poor design from HP but I have to manage one until I get enough dough to get another one.
wolebaba: Tunnex From all the above answers to the questions asked by my people, I believe the issue is that of failing hard disk. You should consider backup and replacement of the hard disk. I have just resolved the same issue in my office 2 days ago.
tunnex190]

Wolebaba, longest time ? I applaud your suggestion and would advise that he
restart the laptop keep pressing f1o until he get to the bios, scrool to diagnostics
and run me a hard drive test

@tunnex190 does the caps lock flash intermittently ?
let us know if it failed or passed

Leward: Hey, no one has answered me o
I referred to your post about you not able to play some cd's.

what type of disk is it ? e.g. american movie and also what does it
says at the side of your disk drive e.g. DVD ROM or RW. try this
google VLC, download it and try playing the disk with it.

regarding your antivirus i would suggest you google norton
removal tool after you remove the norton, restart the laptop
and download microsoft security essential instead. please update afterwards.

To verify this claim google norton very slow as soon as you start to type
on googl you'd notice it would come up itself. this means alot of peope had problems
with norton
Computers › Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m): 11:34pm On Oct 24, 2013
tunnex190: Thanks too bro. It's a laptop and it doesnt go off. And how can I boot from Safe Mode when i wont be able to see anything on the screen but only a blank screen? i don't really know what has really happened to the laptop as everything was just working fine before.

I wiped the system and re-installed the windows this afternoon so i cant think of any start up programs cause i have not installed any application yet and it is still the same (not still booting or loading windows after 5mins plus and whenever it loads I am always afraid to shut down the laptop). But the laptop is 2gb ram and I have had both windows 7 and 8 installed for sometimes now and really it was working fine until now. One thing I can say i do intermittently on the system and it is formatting my system whenever i notice any form of malfunctioning.
I reckoned you had an Hp DV series. Given onegig and knightempler advice, please
provide the laptop model number e.g. HP DV6000ET
Computers › Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m):
KnightsTemplar: It may not necessary mean that the it's just d video adapter is failing, OS related problems can equally cause that, even faulty Hdd has also been attributed 2 Such problem.

Oga u didn't indicate if its a desktop pc or a laptop, and does it go off intermittently after it has succesfully loaded. Anyway boot ur system from safe mode and observe if it will still take up to 5 mins before loading. If it doesn't I will suggest u disable some start up programs including if AV via safe mode, and then restart ur system, and check if the problem persists. If the problem persists, it could be anything from OS, or the video adapter like 1gig said, ur Hdd can also be a culprit, But If am d one working on the equipment, I would like to eliminate the OS first.

try searching for it
Computers › Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m): 2:48pm On Oct 22, 2013
all4naija: You mean to say touchpad. However, try to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version(make sure you download your specs BIOS firmware from your computer maker website and follow instruction accordingly). If after that you didn't succeed in finding solution, it is time to take your system to a technical personnel or send it to your customer care center .

At the meantime you can visit this Site for more help.
Given all4naija previous advice, please state
the make and model. for example Dell 1535 Windows Vista.

Diagnose 1

Try with or without the charger and let us know what happened.

Diagnose 2

Restart laptop and immediately keep pressing f8
select safe mode. you'd notice the screen will turn
big, its normal. once in safe mode and you can see your
icons, observe the touchpad. any difference in safe mode ?

pls check no dirts on the touchpad and is your charger china ?

if all fails go to control panel then mouse and pointing options
check the settings play around with it increase and decrease and
notice what happened on restart keep trying it then restart. if no joy
go to control panel add remove programme look for synaptic s on the list, is it
there ?

indoorlove: Please guru, help me with this probs. My sistem is corrupt, i try to repair it using bootable CD but its prompting me to enter admin password which i can't remember.
How is the system corrupt, i.e. virus or error messages ?

Is it Win 7 or 8. Have you enter the password you or anyone
use to log in to the computer ? there different types of
bootbale cd, e.g. system repair disk that you created or
an origian operating system disk or hiren boot disk to mention a few.

What make is the computer ? e.g. toshiba p300-20h my personal favourite
having served me for 4 years and still running. Lol cheesy

Have you try using f8 on startup without the disk ? try it !
you may be ask for password as well, but worth trying.
then select repair my computer then start up repair

If it is error message you are getting you could use f8
and select command prompt then type in chkdsk

Pls follow all instructions

take it to a shop.

alotofgrace: 8 from factory........solve this problem now or....
Citation
personally I would restore it to original settings and
start everything all over again using f11 on start up

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/window...

Simple instructions:
Navigate to c:\ and right click on the file marked "Users." Select "properties." Under the "General" tab, look at the bottom for the selection that says "Hidden." If there is not a check mark in the box, place a check mark there. Hit "apply", a pop-up window should come up, select "yes" to apply to all subdirectories. It might take a minute to make the change, so just give it a minute to finish.

After it finishes, right-click on the "Users" file again. This time remove the check mark and click "Ok" to apply to all sub-directories again. Once it has finished, your files in the "Users" directory should be good to go, and Catalyst Control Center should function normally again. Hopefully this works for you as well...

the funniest thing is that on my device manager...all dudes are up and running, that is, no caution sign on any driver
In addition to previous post make sure yours
is either 32 bit or 16 bit. unsure how to
use google. this applies when you want to
download the drivers from the vendor's website
Have you followed the instructions ? if you had,
please visit AMD & Support
webpage and let it auto-detect the driver, what
error did you get.

alotofgrace: i need to be low here.....where is my graphic driver.....am on AMD Radeon Graphics though
all4naija: Uninstall your graphic driver, download the latest version and install it.
If you uninstall the drivers you'd probably get a bad image
that would prevent you to download the driver. get a memory stick
or external hard drive. visit the vendor's website according to all4naija
search for your pc model. be careful not select the wrong model. download it
to the memory stick or if you like save it to your computer then uninstall
the drivers from device manager. not sure if it is hp or compaq windows xp
or vista. you need to know what your's is before you download the drivers.

on your keyboard near the spacebar lookout for windows logo near the alt key, it looks like the
flag of nigeria bit it hasn't. grin press the flag with a combination of the letter R. a box would appear
type in devmgmt.msc press enter and look for display adaptor or anything similar to that right click
your amd redeon and uninstall it. then install the correct version you downloaded.

Do you have an antivirus installed ?

restart and immediately keep

blue screen. Can you see different
colours on the bios screen. The colours
you were referring to, can you see it on
that blue screen. another way is to connect the
laptop to an external monitor. unsure how to connect
it to a monitor, google it. have installed any video drivers recently

you could shut it down and restart and see if that solve the problem

Does the message appears when you start your computer or it appears when you
are already in windows, as in you can see your desktop icons and all sorts ?

Did you set any hdd password ? Does the laptop belong to you or someone else ?

Where did you bought it from, shop or from a friend ? The answers you provided would

baani: good day all...please has anyone come accross this pproblem, i have a folder in flash i opened it earlier but recently i tried to view the file and i all i can c are tins tht i cant describe, i tried to open d file and i got this error messege

*THE FILENAME, DIRECTORY NAME, OR VOLUME LABEL SSYNTAX IS INCORRECT*

please help, i need to retrieve those information from that file they are very important and i dont hv a back-up
I'm afraid, have not came across this specific error before. I would suggest you google it.
In practice I would have use recuva software to recover the files before trying
any complicated diagnostics. Are you opening the file as an administrator And is it on a server ?
Is the file on an external hard rive and how did you save the file, i.e. from usb stick to your
hard drive by copy and paste or drag and drop or file backup wizard. xp or vista
