Health / Re: Nigerians Spend 250bn On Medical Tourism Annually by Dejiro(m): 1:21pm On Oct 19, 2013
We loose as much as 250bn on medical tourism annually?
Remember that a high percentage of the doctors we train (Nigeria actually subsidise cost of University training) end up migrating away from Nigeria because of the poor working condition. These doctors end up practicing in the countries where our government officials and our rich men go to for medical attention.
How about the number of Nigerians that die cheaply as a result of our inept medical efficiency?
Are we really expecting our medical sector to be different from our other sectors?
We can't really quantify what we are loosing to our lack of knowledge.
Education / What Should I Do Now That ASUU Is On Strike? by Dejiro(m): 7:15pm On Oct 13, 2013
I have shared this story at a Christian youth forum before; but years after, I am sure it is still relevant. I spent 7 years at the University studying a 5 years course; due to ASUU strike of course. During one of such strikes, for 5 months precisely, I learnt a bit of how to fix and install water pumps.

I finally graduated and was posted to Abuja for my NYSC. Accommodation instantly became a challenge as a family my family had banked upon couldn’t help. My friend who came to my aid soon gave me quit notice because of his parent's objection. To cut the story short, God brought me in contact with a certain 'big man'. Due to the pressure on me, one week after meeting this man, I approached him for help regarding my accommodation, he politely declined sitting helplessness. On his way to dropping me off at a convenient bus top, he craved my indulgence and asked his driver to branch at a school site under construction; apparently his. When we got there, a plumber and an electrician were engaged in heated argument over a pumping machine that had gone bad but shouldn't have. I requested for the water pump as I rolled up my NYSC’s Khaki sleeves. I noticed an anomaly with the pump’s valve. I fixed it and re-primed the pump. I then re-installed it and water started gushing out to everybody’s amazement. This man who had previously rubbished the Nigerian education system was so impressed, that he beckoned his Estate Manager who incidentally was also on site that day. Guess what? I was offered a room accommodation free of charge for a whole year. Now, can you quantify or monetise my relief? That singular experience convinced me of the importance of seizing moments in life.
ASUU is on strike again, be determined never to allow the Nigerian system while away your life. Success is an art; if you can create success out of the smallest thing, you can repeat same with bigger things.

Travel / Re: You want to COME TO AMERICA - Do You REALLY Know America? by Dejiro(m): 10:43pm On Oct 04, 2013
Last year, the World Bank reported the amount of money Nigerians abroad remitted to Nigeria to be over $21 billion
In practical terms, this $21 billion is equivalent to about 9% of Nigeria’s GDP in the same year (World Bank). If America and all the other countries are that bad for Nigerians, how come these few Nigerians abroad are able to remit that much?
Source:
http://www.ohnigeria.com/2013/06/the-nigerian-diaspora-remittance-effect.html

My summary is this, If you are not in the upper middle class and above in Nigeria and you are not on your way to entering that class, staying in a developed country may be beneficiary for you and your family (Healthcarewise, Educationally and even Economically).

I came across what Afenifere a major Yoruba group released and I think I should share it with the whole house.
“We do not believe that SNC will serve Yoruba interest the most. In fact, the Ijaws stands to benefit more. But of what use is prosperity when there is no peace? It therefore makes sense for peace that the Ijaw people keep their oil proceeds and pay royalty to the federal government.”

This is what the the Northern elites are afriad of, and we hold it a duty to educate everybody that can understand that until this happens, there will always be strive in Nigeria.

I discovered there are like 2 Universities where you can do your first degree in 2 years (prepare for short holidays and intensive lectures) and of course, Masters in 1 year. The school fees for either Masters or First Degree is less than £7,000 (1.7 Million Naira) per annum.

I will be able to help you in handling your Admission process and Visa Application process without taking any fee from you.
You can decide to do your degree in 2 years (prepare for short holidays and intensive lectures) and of course Masters in 1 year
Your school fees for either Masters or First Degree is less than £7,000 (1.7 Million Naira) per annum.
I will guide you on how you can survice with only £500.00 per month in London, accommodation inclusive.
I will introduce you to some legitimate businesses you can be doing to help yourself while studying.
I will guide you on what you need to do before leaving Nigeria.
I will mentor you academically so that you don’t pay that kind of money and come out with poor grade.

Some Further Clarifications
The Student visa (Tier 4 visa) comes with 20 hours of work permit week.

What does this mean?
If you are able to get the job, you can earn up to £6.31 per hour if you are up to 21 years old and £5.03 if you are between 18 and 20 years. This is only the minimum it may be slightly above, but the National Insurance and Tax will come in as well. Although you are permitted to work several hours during the holidays, you may not get such additional job and even the 20 hours job per week may not come in your first 3 months in the UK.

What am I saying in fundamentally?
If your reason for coming to study in the UK is to come and work and make money, you are likely to be disappointed. So the best approach is to make sure you can cope financially without working. If you get any job, let it be for the purpose of having additional income.

What kind of job do students do?
Cleaning, security, care giving. You can also work in fast food joints and stores serving and attending to customers. You can also get a junior role in an office (Slightly difficult to get).
Politics / Re: Confederacy, True Federalism Or Resource Control? by Dejiro(m): 6:16pm On Sep 22, 2013
We are already practising what they want; Unitary Government. The only problem is that it doesn't seems to have taken us anywhere.
Politics / Confederacy, True Federalism Or Resource Control? by Dejiro(m): 5:33pm On Sep 22, 2013
It is no secret that the South East advocates for ‘Confederacy’, the South West‘ is routing for True Federalism’ and the South South is gunning for ‘Resource Control’.
My research revealed the following;

Confederation
A political system in which political units unite for common action permanently is called Confederation Units of confederation often adopt a common constitution and they have same currency, foreign policy and defense system. In this system, central government provides support to all units. Confederation word is also used in meanings other than political. Sports confederations are common all over the world.

Federalism
Federalism is another political concept in which units are bound and important matters are governed by the representative head. In this system sovereignty is divided among the provinces or states and central governing authority. European federalism and Canadian federalism are famous all over the world.

Conclusion
I didn’t find much difference in either of these two and either guarantees resource control and limits the chances of corruption.
Why then is the South East, South West and South South advocating differently?

Politics / Nigerian Fruad Activities In Thailand by Dejiro(m): 4:19pm On Sep 18, 2013
I sometimes wonder how we got to this level. If you go to China with a British Passport, you are sometimes warned to beware of Nigerians. In Malaysia, we are best known for fraud. I came accross this on a very popular Newspaper in Bangkok, the Google translator did a poor job, but the meaning is not completely lost, the country's name is being spoilled by a few that have rejected or lacked good upbringing among us.
The question is what can the rest of us do before the name we all share 'Nigeria' becomes a complete burden to all of us?
Please no tribal insult here.

DS I warned her: Nigerian gang tricked transfer Facebook contacts.

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Sep 18, Mr. Chris Peng Dit General Martha DSI. Investigation revealed the foreign social network deceived citizens that Thailand would like to remind the public to be wary of fake online social via Facebook. Preliminary experience with thousands of damage victims over 60 million by the movement, such as Nigeria to a good looking white European British citizenship using social. Received high popularity now is Facebook. Groups criminals claimed to be a British business people to Malaysia, such as petrochemical, oil import-export business. Tries to become friends with the victim. All the victims were women and to use English to communicate. Talk to business investment. Stalking victims asked to assess the economic and financial status of the victim. It then sends a check to the receipt of a passport to try to convince the victim to believe. When I talked to one assessment that the victim trusts that it will begin to maneuver. Experience in the business can not be withdrawn as cash. Check out the numbers in their name. Or money received can not be withdrawn to pay for insurance. Or have the money to open a bank account. And taxpayers first. The claimed illness must be admitted to the hospital. Or persuaded victims to invest in various businesses and ask the victim to transfer money before it could be used later.

Mr. Nathan Ritter said the victims also claimed that when the solution is complete, to meet the victims to fly to Thailand. Many believe the victim and then transfer money into the account. And perhaps a phone conversation with the victim, using a mobile phone in Malaysia. Further investigation revealed that the thieves for a Nigerian. Residents living in Malaysia and Thailand are also people with a fraudulent account opened with the Bank of Thailand in the victim's account to transfer money. By muggers clear division of labor. Have served for victims, and speak for the victims. Person acting for the account. And act on it. The group began to change the way criminals using foreign accounts. Or Malaysia. To open an account with the bank Standard Chartered. The CIMB Bank. West Bank and Union Terminal by the three bank accounts to be opened in Malaysia. So difficult. Pursuit of officers. And to trust that the victim is actually a foreign account. Politics / Re: Julius Berger Completes Abuja National Stadium Rehabilitation, Hands Over TODAY by Dejiro(m): 10:21am On Sep 17, 2013
Nigeria needs serious restructuring and decentralisation of Governance. To start fixing the National stadium, Police College, Lagos-Ibadan Road e.t.c. The president had to visit and award contract? What about the Ministers that we are paying? What about the different Governmental Agencies responsible for maintenance?
Is this how we will continue to run Nigeria? How many places can a single President visit? What happens if the President cannot visit? So nothing will get done? How will the president have time to oversee sound policy making if we don't decentralise government and governance?

Don't get me wrong, I am not against the President but against this faulty Federalism system that the military bestowed on us. Until our Agencies and Institutions are made to work, Nigerian Presidents will continue to labour almost in vain.

There is no governance going on in Taraba that Suntai, even in his present state cannot provide. During the last entrance exams into Unity secondary schools in Nigeria, cut-off marks for Taraba state boys was 3 over 200 while that of Anambra was 139. To continue to produce this kind of result doesn't require any Governor beyond Suntai's capability.

Nigerians in diaspora sent over $21 billion to Nigeria last year. This money is more than the total revernue that accrued to the Federal Government in the same year. It is also more that 9% of the total Nigerian GDP. We should understand that they are skakeholders in the Nigerian project.

Source: http://www.ohnigeria.com/2013/06/the-nigerian-diaspora-remittance-effect.html

Nigeria as a country and we its people need to put our acts together; for instance how can an embassy just close its doors without informing the people it was mearnt to be serving? To think this is hapenning in 2013 and not 1913 calls for concern.
