Hi all. There was a lot of confusion whether students enrolled in Jan 2020 intake are eligible for PSW. Some people said yes, students from Jan 2020 intake are eligible and some said they're not eligible and students enrolling for September 2020 are eligible. So I decided to drop a mail to home office on 16 April 2020 and got a reply today i.e on 28 April 2020.....

Those going in for may intakes, will it affect such student ? In the admission letter, it was stated msc ends may 2021.Pls, advise before mistake is made.

Everything is always seem difficult in this country ! In some countries, if even a ATM cardholder tries to withdraw money in variation to known pattern of withdrawal money will not be dispensed except you call the customer care.

Please sir, what does the law say concerning one year rent? Does the law see 1 year as 11months?

Now I see why Nigeria's legal system is in shambles.
I live in Lagos and I pay my own rent.
Tenancy in Nigeria is for 12 full months unless otherwise (in situations where the parties involved have different agreements).
That is the reason why most landlords prefer January to December rate/calculation.

Thank you jare. Most of this guy harp on the ignorance of the tenant, collecting full payment at the first year when they know the agreement was for just 11months.

That is between him and the landlord if such agreement was entered into. Most tenant do not know their right !
Please, people should get proper agreement before making any payment, if your landlord is collecting the first year for 11months duration, ask for 1 month rent deduction .

You probably have being cheating your tenant, collecting 12months rent as opposed to 11monthd as describe by act you quoted.

Most rent agreements are signed for 11 months so that they can avoid stamp duty and other charges. According to the Registration Act, 1908, the registration of a lease agreement is mandatory if the leasing period is more than 12 months. If an agreement is registered, stamp duty and registration fee needs to be paid for it.
That's why the tenancy agreement initially reads 11 months, while subsequent payments will read 12 months. Which means that the moment you pay in March, you'd continue to pay in March until you decide to leave the house. Please, your landlord is right. Cheers.

While I agree with some points raised especially investing in real estates I have some reservation .I must also say that investment in nigeria has got lots of risk with unfavourable tax system which is stiffling many businesses
Moving from that, migration from nigeria does not always about economic reasons but other factors that support life.
I saw a report recently about our education system , where 26 million nigerians in school are not properly taught.I fear for my unborn child to grow up in Nigeria.
Lastly , I just feel alot of things are just not right with us.Especially ,concerning human lives.
