truthstands20: This is very unfortunate. The world is moving to technological age and electronic transmission of result and we are still battling with manual process. This is to facilitate rigging by APC but it will lot work. The world is watching and any move to truncate the will of the people will be resisted. INEC should do a clean job if they have the interest of this country at heart. Let them not make this country to boil by being partisan. There is some form of electronic transmission. INEC receives the details of number of accredited voters electronically. The raise a flag when this is different from the number of votes cast. Difficult I am sure they will also transmit the final results at each PU electronically but need the hard copy to for reference sake. If all co-operate everything would be smooth. Just tell your supports to go and vote , stand aside to see the votes counted and transmit the results. |

Born2Breed: The controversial suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to elicit mixed reactions.
In removing Mr Onnoghen, Mr Buhari claimed he acted based on a Code of Conduct Tribunal order.
Many Nigerians, however, believe the president has no such powers to remove a CJN from office.
Section 292 of the Nigerian constitution deals with the removal of some public officials including the CJN. The section does not distinguish temporary removal (suspension) from a permanent removal (sack).
Below is the law as reproduced verbatim from the constitution
“A judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement except in the following circumstances –
Okowa Campaign AD
(a) in the case of –
“Chief Justice of Nigeria, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Kadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and President, Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.”
(ii) Chief Judge of a State, Grand Kadi of a Sharia Court of Appeal or President of a Customary Court of Appeal of a State, by the Governor acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the House of Assembly of the State,
Praying that he be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct;
(b) in any case, other than those to which paragraph (a) of this subsection applies, by the President or, as the case may be, the Governor acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council that the judicial officer be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct.
In other words, a sitting CJN can only be removed from office by the president after at least two-thirds majority members of the Senate support such a move. No such matter has been debated in the Senate. |

omogidi234: You have made a valid point. I know myself that it is dicey that the NJC would recommend him for suspension but what the executive has done is worse.
What they should have done is to keep pursuing the case at CCT. Also, the CCT can not make an order that is beyond its power. The Constitution is the ground norm- like the father in the house, the CCT- like a child, cannot make an order that would conflict with that of the Constitution.
Also, assuming but not conceding that the CCT has those powers, the question I would ask is when was the application to ask him to step aside moved.?
There are a lot of intrigue, I pray this would not cause trouble ahead. Please read the sections of the constitution being quoted again. The CCT does have the powers to adjudicate in the matter. |

Guys, this guy is a scam as at now and will strongly whoever wants to do business with him to thread carefully.
Meanwhile, this case is been tendered to the EFCC by my lawyer. I had contracted him to supply me workers before I saw your response. He hasn't delivered as promised and has failed to pick his line all day today. Don't know why people find it difficult to be straightforward with what they do. |

Denn: Farm labour demystified...
Farm labour in Nigeria is simple if you understand the dynamics.
First, understand the community in which the farm is located. Do some ground work. Get to know who the real farmers are. It would be surprising to note that the indigenes are not usually the farmers. For example, in the Yoruba community where my farm is located, the real farmers are people from Benue and cotonu.
Second step is to identify the leader of the farming community. Hold your discussions with the leader. This is to provide for accountability.
Now the main part..you should understand the local unit of land measurement... Not the plots or acres or hectares. If you speak in acres or hectares, it is a tell tale sign that you are a 'book farmer' and there are chances that you would be cheated....seriously.
In yoruba land, the local unit of measurement is alapin. An alapin is 60ft by 60ft. That is approximately half of a plot of 120ft by 60ft.
An alapin is measured using a cutlass on a stick. The length of a new cutlass is 2ft. Three cutlass measutments make 6ft. A stick of 6ft measured ten times gives 60ft.
Once you understand this dynamic, then you can move to the next level...pricing.
Depending on your negotiation skill and the thickness of the bush, an alapin is between 700 naira to 1000 naira to weed.
Bear in mind that you will provide feeding too per person at the rate of N200 per head for breakfast. You might decide to add lunch if you are nice. The nicer you are, the cleaner your work is. this effectively means average cost of weeding 1 plot ranges 1400 to 2000 1 acre will be around 8000 to 10000 1 hectare 25000 I have quoted the prices assuming you got discounts. these are based on the analysis above. |

Many people post without deep thoughts.
1. Some educated Nigerians are dying to get to Canada because you get about 500CAD per child per month if you are unemployed or underemployed and have children.
Check the pictures those are rural areas with a relatively small economic base. And injection of about 1Million (for 200 recipients) into each those rural economies would advance them in its own way.
Most commenting cannot even part with 200 to the poor.
Good people always appreciate it when they see others doing good. Better put givers appreciate other givers. |
