@All atheists, could we all just ignore Mr_Anony and concentrate on the real reason this thread was created that way we will be able achieve more. I also think it is time we petitioned Seun to give atheist too their own space so we can discuss thing that are peculiar to atheism and its ideologies. We should also work towards harmless discussions, devoid of abuses and insults among religious belief systems. Once again, please lets try not to derail this thread as much as possible lets try and ignore those who try to and direct them to open a new thread if they want something ironed out.

@Logicboy....I am in full support of this 2013 agenda. For a very long time I was a closet atheist only baring my mind on this annonymous forum called nairaland but now am a lot bolder now. Most of my facebook friends now know am an atheist, even friends in church. I think we could start by creating a group on facebook which would help give a face to fellow atheists. There are a few already existing like "hammer the gods", "the thinking atheists" and the "thinking atheists of america". We could create something like this close to home and encourage people to join in. Physical and harmeless discussion forums could also be organised such that people of different faiths and beliefs could air their opinion. Something like "The Big Question" on youtube.

Personally, I took courses in Islam and Islamic History at University. But even I found the numbers that follow to be higher than I would have expected. Before I get into the statistics, however, I wanted to clarify a couple of other misconceptions.

Islam is not just like other faiths. While it is considered an Abrahamic faith, in reality it is the Old Testament combined with Arab Paganism and run-of-the-mill, mind-control death cult. Muhammad's father was named Abdallah, or "Belonging to Allah".

The only phrase I hear parroted more frequently than the false idea that Islam is just like other religions is the idea that it is only a tiny minority of Muslims who approve of violence. If people would actually take the time to learn about Islam and talk to Muslims instead of repeating catch phrases, they would quit repeating those lines (I hope) because they are utterly false.

Muhammad commanded that those who leave Islam be murdered. That is what our fellow nonbelievers who left Islam face, and they deserve and need our support, as do the innocent children being married off to old men to be raped. Organizations such as the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain do excellent work, both in helping those who have left Islam and fighting for recognition of the dangers faced by those who do not want to be Muslims.

Islam runs absolutely contrary to every human right. Islam is a dogma, a set of ideas, and it's a set of ideas that we need to oppose with all we've got as decent, moral human beings. -Meg"

I once attended their one-week deliverance session and mehn it was nothing but torture session. You are supposed to fast 3 days straight without food or water. You pray morning, afternoon and night. I honestly was initially taken by this stewpidity but later jettisoned everything. Rather than teach love for humanity, they want all their enemies to die. If you sneeze, its your enemy. What is the difference to a moslem between insulting Mohammed and speaking against the quoran? I guess none right, because quoran is as sacred as mohaammed himself is sacred to any moslem. Christians believe the bible is the word of God written down by men who were under the inspiration of the holy spirit. However while growing up in Ibadan I have witnessed several open air crusades by moslems where the christian bible were openly insulted and ridiculed. Hammad Deed a famous islamic scholar wrote volumes of books directed at watering down what the christians hold sacred, the bible. Coming here now and saying true muslim would not insult Jesus Christ is kind on news to my ears. I am not a christian though but I have on several occassions heard muslims claim the bible is adulterated and stuffs and from your posts you claimed muslims wont bother if a fellow muslim says something negative about our prophet so why then do they go ahead to say negative things about the bible? Christian leaders wont fight because 1) It is not in their character and teaching to go on violent rampage 2) If they ask people to go on rampage who will give tithes and offerings ?

Why some people would say these shows have helped removed youth that would have otherwise been involved in criminal activities they conveniently forget that this kind of vocation is hardly sustainable. Apart from Cowbell and GT Bank that organise mathematics competitions and debating competitions respectively I cant think of any other organisation that does anythinh meaningful. I just used that to answer Oluface. Am not sure any religion preachesmonotheism these days save for Judaism. Christianity claims the worship of one God who manifested himself in 3 different phases, Father, Son and Holy spirit. Some christians have issues with this belief system saying the bible never peached trinity and the dabte goes on ad infinitum. Islam on the other hand claims the worship of one God but that mohammed is the bigest of all the messengers to the extent that mohammed is almost given the the status of a deity. No? Muslims hold Mohammed in the same category christians hold Jesus. Any attack on Mohammed is enough to incite any moslem to take up arms. If this is not equal to worship, I wonder what worship is.

The distance between the earth and the sun is not constant. The earth moves in an eliptical orbit round the sun. Only about 21% of the atmosphere is usable by humans. More than 70% of earth is covered by water and 97% of that water is unusable for humans. As for The remaining 30% of land, a huge percentage is either covered by desert or ice which makes the place uninhabitable. Just because life and by extension humans have been able to crawl to a corner of the planet that just suports life we think this place was 'built' with us in mind. Well the truth probably is that this place happened without us in mind. Our solar system has 8 planets with several moons orbiting them yet only the earth is habitable! If a God actually did that job then on the grand scale of planetary habitation He scored 1/8 or 12.5%=F. On the scale of gaseous usability for animals He scored 21%=F. On the scale of water drinkability for humans He scored 3%=F. On the scale of land availability He scored 30%=F. Well the failure goes on and on.

To all those who think this player (oops prayer) session is what we need in Nigeria can you please tell me how many prayer and fasting sessions did the Holy Ghost command china to organise before they became the 2nd biggest economy in the world? How many sessions did Dubai do to become a tourist haven? How many of such did Singapore organise to move 'From Third World to First World'? I saw the footage in Mariere Hall common room. Was in my final year then and I saw some muslim guys in the room jubilating and saying things like 'serves them well'.
