An orphanage, a public library, a public school, families of Nigerian soldiers killed in battle are all more deserving of this money than churches.
The Church helped his family. He's paying back so that others can be blessed too. He was specific about his areas of interest.

My brother that generation don die long ago. The ones here now listen to the all the propaganda about Nigerian drug lords and don't have any idea what Nigerian really is. Don't blame them they don't travel to any other African country so they don't know.
Very sad indeed!

This story can't be true.

Olumide na Bariga guy and he died 2015.

How can you say you got married to him? This gal is not normal.

Family › Re: My Husband Travelled To Lagos 3 Weeks After Our Wedding And Never Returned by delpee(f): 6:50pm On Aug 28, 2024
I pray that someone identifies this guy. He has some explanation to do. This is so unfair except if something bad happened to him.

It's wise to know a partner to his/her roots before getting into marriage.
Politics › Re: NNPC Retail Surrenders Control To OVH by delpee(f): 4:57pm On Aug 25, 2024
onegig:
Analog, sensationalist and archaic journalism would be the end of Nigeria.

Ovh Energy which is a Dutch company owned Ovh Marketing a subsidiary. They sold Ovh marketing to a Nigerian firm name NuelOil or something can't recall the correct name and exited the Nigerian market. NNPC bought the company.

https://www.nnpcgroup.com/insights/insights-nnpc-acquires-ovh

Now the Parent arm that previously sold OVH marketing which is Vitol has now purchased the whole NNPC Retail arm thus reentering the Nigerian market.

https://www.globalprivatecapital.org/newsroom/helios-investment-partners-completes-an-investment-in-ovh-energy-sub-saharan-africa/

So it is just a confusion of names, something all these tabliods should correct but how would they make money if they don't rile up the populace with half truths and slander. Trust Nigerians they would just jump to conclusions without understanding the context of the deals. I blame the government also, their comms team is abysmal. You should be able to exolain these things in a basic 1 page slide.
Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. Our journalists need to do better really.
Education › Re: South-East Institutions Missing As NELFUND Publishes Student Loan Disbursement by delpee(f): 2:28pm On Aug 25, 2024
Zool6:
Taken Loans is always sweet but paying back can be very painful and frustrating ,,,Paying back Loans just 2yrs After NYSC is gonna be difficult for lot of students taken this loans today
Maybe not so difficult if we consider that it seems to be interest free. I believe that it will be spread over a period of time. It's far better than taking conventional loans. Also those who don't really need the 20k monthly allowance can apply for the fees alone to reduce their commitment.

If someone told me in the 70s that Nigeria and South Africa will be on this level of mutual hatred years later, I would have said that it's not possible.

Our people loved SA and all the surrounding countries to a fault. Free education for those that came to our FGCs and Universities. Our musicians sang freedom songs. British investments were nationalised by OBJ. So much passion geared towards their freedom from apartheid. They became free and we end up being their object of hate. I still don't get it. Very sad indeed.

Christianity Etc › Re: UK vs Nigeria: Why I Will Never Attend A Church In Nigeria Again - Man by delpee(f): 3:00pm On Aug 18, 2024
The orthodox Churches still render accounts. At least, I'm sure of the Anglican Church. It's even published in most cases and given to members. The Church weekly bulletin also shows what was collected the previous week. Even gifts are acknowledged and announced.

It's some of the new generation Churches that have issues with doing the needful.

The 504 was OBJs official car as military Head of State back then. The low profile era.

Peugeot assembly plant was in (still is) in Kaduna, Volkswagen in Lagos.

Some of us grew up seeing raw cotton being spinned manually to make threads which was used to make aso oke and what was known as kijipa. That was as recent as the 60s up to early 70s.

There were many textile companies too so we relied less on imports. I remember Aiyepe lace factory in Ogun state. The government supported the textile industry by limiting importation. Adams Oshiomoles labor leader story started from the Textile workers union. Unfortunately, the massive importation of okrika and inferior and cheaper fabrics killed our industries.

I pray that they're revived soonest. I'd rather buy good cotton ankara and adire than buy all these polyester/nylon ankara being sold everywhere now.

It then means that there might be other occasion in which funds have been released?
Meanwhile, some youths can't start up businesses due to no capital.
The youth should find out about the current intervention programmes for youth empowerment. Some are geared towards providing capital and training for small scale enterprises.

Lagos is benefiting from strong structures led by colonial masters and FG for donkey years as former capital of Nigeria however the governors of Lagos state have tried in maintaining the tempo of development.
Believe what pleases you. We know that successive governments starting with LKJ have done wonderfully well to build Lagos far beyond the dreams of the colonialists. Lekki was just a swamp with small villages and poor accessibility before LKJ constructed a road to Epe. Also a large portion of the mainland formerly belonged to the Western Region and was mostly developed in the Awolowo era.

Apart from Bosuns 3MTT, there are other empowerment opportunities that can change lives if people are interested.
