what i find out, Nigerians do not need a visa to the Bahamas, but the problem is that one need to get a transit visa to the UK, and is hard now.
Not true. Nigerians need a Bahamian visa to visit Bahamas |
disturbia:Visa and Study Permits are two different things. Visas are entry documents while your study permit gives you your status. Since you are studying, I'm guessing you study permit is still valid; is your Visa expired? If it is, you need to renew it before you travel out of Canada. Renewing it is not as difficult as it is in Nigeria. All you need is a valid study permit and probably letter from your Registrar's office stating that you are a student, blah blah blah; and mail it to the Consulate in Buffalo. You should get it back within 2wks if you follow the rules (you'd need to include a return envelope, which I recommend otherwise they'd send your passport back via regular mail.) Now, there's another school of thought that with a Canadian study permit you can cross the border; however, in the aftermath of 9/11, even a permanent resident card cannot allow you to cross the border. So, YES, get your Visa sorted so that the Yanks can give you a Visa as well. Goodluck! |
Hello folks: Please, what are the current market prices in your area of: - Iphone 3GS (16G and 32G) - Blackberry Bold (II) 9700 We just got a wicked deal on them and would like to know if it's worth it even shipping to Nigeria or selling them off here. |
Choosy:The admission requirements are listed on York's (or any university of your choice) website. If you are in doubt, the best people to contact is the grad office of the institution and their number or email is usually listed there. I'd take their word over any one's word here. One thing I'd tell you for free here is that for MBA, York is quite competitive to get in; so you need a good GPA and GMAT score above 650. Ryerson is cheap but alot of students apply to Ryerson. I have some inroads in Ryerson and the program is lest than 12mths compared to York's 16mths. Lastly, I do not know your background but I'd think an MBA is more reputable than a Masters in HR. I'd suggest you look at an MBA with a concentration in HR, that way you are not limiting yourself. Also, the MBA classes are good for networking. |
Choosy:What program? Depending on the program, some institutions do not require GRE. |
For those suggesting ear plugs, you'd be suprised you'd wake up one day and the dude is gone; yeah, dead. Snoring, most times is a symptom; perhaps there's an obstruction in his air-way. Obesity is definitely a cause. You should ask him how he well he sleeps at night. I will not be suprised if he wakes up sometimes tired or if sometimes he is "shocked" out of sleep because he is not breathing and his brain is not getting a good supply of oxygen. Some remedies: If your hubby sleeps on his back, try to get him to sleep on his side. Also, if he is obese, try to work with him. Talking to him like a child will not work. With regards keeping fit, you have to realise both of you are partners. It's not enough saying "we have a treadmill and he does not use it". He eats till late, blah blah blah; how about you help him since you probably are strong in this area? If you do not mind losing him to an unhealthy lifestyle, feel free to ignore my advice otherwise you are better off taking a pro-active stance to get your home on a healthy track. Also, you may want to go see a doctor about this. There are some devices some "sleep experts" will recommend to use while he sleeps, which opens the airway permanently. If it's quite serious, they may suggest surgery. Goodluck! |
carnal:Happy New Year; Everything you need is located here www.cic.gc.ca |

murabs:You got mail. |
platinumnk:5lbs is pretty small. You may be better off via Fedex, DHL or UPS. What State are you based? |
platinumnk:Small stuffs like? Weight? |
Brandon25:Well, your note says alot. For someone that resides in Atlanta and ships between 500-1000 lbs of goods every month, one would think you'd have a relatively solid structure in place, instead of relying on a "Nigerian brother". That's why I wanted to clarify.Anyway, you are better off going thru an airfreight agent in Atlanta. Check your yellowpages and call up a few of them and compare their quotes. As far as your business is registered, you should have a fair quote from them. Forget UPS, DHL, etc. They are all glorified airfrieght companies and it's not cost effective when you have to ship in bulk internationally. All of them probably use same airlines. It will also save you shipping to other states and help you with close control of your goods instead of having to pass from hand to hand. Otherwise I can recommend my airfreight agent in NY and you'd always have to ship your goods to NY to airfreight to Lagos. One word of advice tho, no matter how cheap, do not use any African airline and always include insurance or better still, insure your company. It's Nigeria where the impossible is possible; just my 2 cents. You'd also need a clearing agent in Lagos to clear your goods, if you have not gotten one by now. |
Brandon25:Are you in the US or based in Nigeria? |
dogice:Dogice, how are you doing? Have you been ablke to get a phone now? Have you been able to differ the other admission? |
mi 2010:My apologies for the delayed reply. I was banned for posting a news article (I think Seun and his team need to work on their spambot). Here is the info you need. Goodluck. Manitoba: http://www2.immigratemanitoba.com/browse/index.html Ontario: http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/english/pnp.asp |
flowsur:It is very possible. Infact, a few students do it on a regular basis. Drop your email/number if you are interested. |
dogice:Actually, the Morocco-Montreal route is a high risk route for that airline in that alot of Nigerians (and some other Africans) use it to get to Canada illegally (with fake documents) and then declare as refugees when they get to Montreal. What you witnessed is common practice in such high-risk routes while travelling with a green passport. Thanks to our brothers. Obviously, the new development with regards that kid has added a new twist to it. Whereabouts Saint John are you? Are you on campus? What's your email? |
dogice:Welcome; I hope you had a nice flight. Drop your number or email; I'd give you a ring. Happy New Year. |
CowMeat:You'd probably be coming into Canada with USD. The banks will change for you at their daily rates. There are no mallams here. Goodluck as you wait. I'd be more inclined to visit them before the 24th because they'd most likely close office from the 24th to the new year. You need to be more assertive and follow up on your application asap. |
anijummai:From your comments, it seems your husband is based in Canada while you are in Nigeria. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If my assumptions are right, your husband has to file an "Out of Canada" Permanent residency application. He'd first have to send it in to the CPC office in Ontario who will then pre-approve him as your sponsor and then transfer it to your local visa office (which is in Accra). At the moment, the processing time in Ontario is approximately 1 month; however, the long wait is in Accra; it could take up to 18months or even more. With respect to getting a Visa to Study, you can apply for a study Visa while your application is still in process. Canada allows for migration based on "dual intent". However, there's no guarantee you'd get the Visa. If you were applying from Europe, I'd say you probably have a better chance of getting the study Visa while your application is in process but the office in Lagos just thinks everyone is looking for a way to game the system (which is almost true). I'm not one to endorse agencies but I know there's an affiliate agency with the High Commission. It's called "Maple" and they are based in Lagos. Perhaps you may want to check them out; I hear they are expensive tho but they may be able to cook something up. Whatever you do, make sure you think long term; interms of yourself and husband. If you make the application and do not mention you are married and your husband is in Canada, you will be putting your (husband's) application and future applications in jeopardy as the possibility of making any amendments in future is close to nil. So make sure you disclose you are married and the actual date on your marriage certificate. Also, I believe there's somewhere on the form that asks if someone has made an application on your behalf or something along that line; if your husband has already submitted your PR application, the answer should be in the affirmative. It's worth giving it a shot; worst case is that you are declined on your quest for a study Visa; you wait out your PR application or try getting into one of the institutions in the US or UK where you'd be closer to your husband. I hope I was able to answer your question(s). |
dogice:Nice one there. I take it you'd be flying directly into Saint John. I'd call a couple of my Naija pals in that zone (most are in F'tton) to meet up with you. Is your accommodation settled? PS. I just gave you a ring but no response. We'd talk soon. Compliments of the season! |
did anyone know where i can get a solar item in large quantity, like rechargeable solar fan, solar phone charger and so on,
I'm into renewable energy sources and can source such items genuinely for you from N.America. I've done it for a few of my clients in the past. Email me at sales@jonitivecomputers.com with exactly what you need and your contact info. I'd get back to you promptly. |
babaearly:If you cannot find a means, email me at sales@jonitivecomputers.com with the info and I'd be sure to get them for you to Lagos within a week. |
dogice:200k or 20k? |
dogice:Why not Lagos-Morocco-Montreal? Why do you have to go thru Atlanta? Doesnt make sense. And you are right; you'd need a US Visa even if you are just making a Transit in the US. Unless you have a US Visa, she needs to give you another alternative. BA, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, etc would work. I quite agree this is a busy period and you'd have to pay a premium cos of the season. BTW, see if you can get your ticket to your final destination i.e. Saint John (or Halifax YHZ if they cannot get Saint John). If you have to buy an extra ticket for a local flight, you need to budget another $200 min for a one-way, unless you get something to Toronto or Montreal alot cheaper with more than a $200 margin. |
dogice:Congrats. I'm glad you were able to get something from this thread. Call Moji (Lagos) at 08023179683; Pls note that I'm not affiliated to her; She's just a friend who I've done business with in the past and no complaints. So, pls use your usual due diligence when dealing with her. If you find better deals elsewhere, feel free although I believe prices are up because this is the high peak season as a result of the holidays. Maybe if you are prepared to fly on the 25th you may get a break. Lastly, I believe you said you are heading for Saint John, NB. SJ is a smaller city so you may have to hub in through Toronto or Montreal. If you cannot find a flight into SJ, try Halifax (YHZ). It's a bigger city and just a 4hr drive from SJ; so you might be able to get LOS-LHR-YHZ. Post your number here and I'd give you a call. I'm sure you've settled your accommodation. Please come prepared for the winter. It's beginning to get very very cold. I was in Dallas/Houston over the wkend and it was damn cold in TX. Goodluck! |
This is an easy fix for people who have a Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard) with a good bank. I'm assuming you used a Credit card for your payment. You can dispute charges like these and get a full refund from the bank instantly on the basis that it was a "fraudulent" transaction. The airline made a promise which they could not deliver on; so you are entitled to your money which you hope to use to buy another ticket with a different carrier. The bank will go after the company to get the money. |
suxes2005:I may be wrong but I believe they are open till about the Christmas week. However, if he just has to submit documents, he should be able to do it anytime within the timeframe he was given to send in those documents. If he plans to fly into Accra to deliver by hand, he should make sure he gets the receivers name and signature just incase the consulate claims they do not have it. Betterstill, he can call the Accra consulate and clarify issues with them. |
