sophy09:How do you pay school fees when you have not been granted admission? Even in Nigeria, do you pay your school fees to so-called agents? Some of you need to wisen up 4real. Goodluck trying to get your money back. However, you will be unable to get a Visa for the Fall due to the policies of the CDHC in Lagos. You may shoot for January or next Fall. Again, making an application is not rocket science. You do not have to go thru any agent. |
mobuch:It's obvious Cranberry is having a problem understanding what a forum is all about. All she needs to do is do a search, didnt take me 2 secs to find her thread. Nobody deleted it! https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=287162.msg4078113#msg4078113 . . .and quite frankly, her post is quite redundant; there's over 27pages of info (sticky-ed on PAGE 1) on making a transition to Canada with links, etc. But then, what do I know? ![]() |
disturbia:Congrats. No you do not have to show any money. Infact, it would be pretty foolish to carry excess cash with you; perhaps you just need a copy of the bank statement you present in the event you are asked at the airport. I doubt you will be. With regards insurance, I'm guessing they ment health insurance. When you arrive Canada, you'd be presented with the option of buying a health insurance (from your school) if you do not have one already. Congrats again and safe trip. All the best! |
Middleman:It's an '06. The 10th xter in your VIN is 6. |
sowa:I think you have a point but let me counter it by saying we Nigerians cause problems for ourselves. Alot of Nigerians submit fraudulent everything even bankdraft to apply for a Visa. At the end of the day, the genuine applicants will be affected, somewhat. It's unfortunate but that's what's happening in every embassy in Nigeria including the Canadian embassy. Travelling with a Nigerian passport is no fun; even for MMA, your countryman will harrass you for carrying the green passport. Funny thing is I have more reason to believe it's the Nigerians working in the CDHC that are actually doing a VERY poor job at screening or delaying these applications. With regards the agents, some of these agents have signed agreements with Canadian universities and the Canadian High Commission. My guess is, the CDHC see these agencies as genuine avenues to pre-screen applications (half of the work done already). The day these agencies bring in fraudulent documents, that will be the day business ends; so I'm sure the agencies are working hard to keep that relationship going to make enough change in their pockets; that's just my guess. I never used to believe that there were affiliated agents with CDHC until I personally met one last week here in Canada and after my rap with him, I was more than convinced. Should you go thru an agent? Nahhh, I do not think it's necessary (your choice tho). Their fees are just ridiculous and there's still no guarantee. I say, cross your "T-s" and dot your "I-s" and you should be fine. Goodluck to those of you waiting for responses! P.S. The bottomline is that Present day Canada stands to gain from a net migration; that's the more reason the immigration policies is continually being flex-ed. The universities need their own fair-share of international students (and fees) and the Asians are not wasting time filling up that quota. |
wonderbod:When you are done, come lemme do medicals on you too ![]() Goodluck tho. I hope your private medical tests came out aight. |

globalpaul:Some of you are funny. Na common security man dey help dictate your future abi? You have to insist on seeing someone. All application cases have file numbers and the security dude is either ignorant or just wanted to send you away. |
Bank PHB is the worst bank anyone can bank or do business with. Almost a year now, my money has been tied up in the bank and they've blatantly refused to pay me; I'm talk millions of Naira. Never again!! |
kinharold:Are you looking to buy the trucks or you are looking for someone to give you the trucks for "returns"? |
Again, price? Plot sizes? No point wasting time to call if you cannot post an asking price ![]() |
AjanleKoko:Chief, I know you understand it's not as easy as it sounds to migrate especially when you have a system that is tested, trusted and relatively reliable. It's not that we have a customer base or data that is growing astronomically every minute. However, most manufacturers are gradually moving to IP based systems. This is our challenge as we are left with no other option(s) than to take a hard look at this "new" trend. We are currently "fighting" with Alcatel cos they have made a business decision to shift their focus solely to MPLS and are no longer going to be supporting our network of TDM muxes worth several millions of dollars. I can see machine-to-machine technology being implemented down the road (definitely not now). There are some security and regulatory issues with IP that are currently being sorted. Most FEP are IP based now and IP is slowly but gradually creeping in. These are same challenges facing most telecoms depts in the utilities and oil platforms today (out here in the West). You also have to realise that there are several other field devices like RTUs, etc in remote areas with skinny banwidth and no IP capability because they were installed in the days of Abraham. It takes lots to make such decisions. Funny enough, the shareholders and BoDs are looking at their dollars and they hardly fathom why you want to spend $10million to upgrade a network that is relatively stable & reliable and does not significantly increase revenue. The Telcos have a different playing field. I'm in the utilities industry and control all generating (hydro, coal, windfarms, etc) stations & substations from a Control Centre; still Energy but not oil. Although in Nigeria we are used to outages, power outages in the Western world is not a norm; even with natural disasters (hurricanes, storms etc), you still have to answer questions why there was an outage and why it took so long to get it back on. Hence, we must maintain a very robust and reliable network; that's one major reason why utilities have their own terrestrial radio network and are not eager to give it up. The oil platforms are driven by profit and can hardly afford any downtime either. |
wonderbod:U aint a virgin? I'm sure you'd be fine; I shouldnt tell you to be "careful" out there.BTW, your intending destination is a major city but that's not a major factor to being focused. You really have to discipline yourself. I hope you can discipline your agro too ![]() All the best. Let's know how you make out! |
:p :p |
wonderbod:I would have said you should go straight for the MBA; the work experience is good but sometimes universities overlook it if you have very good GMAT scores. At 22, you are more of an asset in an MBA class and it would be very beneficial for you if you mingle and work on class projects with people alot older than you with good work experience. The networking, thought process, etc cannot be underestimated. Regardless, time is on your side. With a 2.2, it's pretty difficult getting into a Master's program; So, make sure if/when you go for your program, work VERY hard to make a very good result so that you can get into any university of your choice. It's very easy to be side-tracked. York has a good business program. Good luck. P.S. Why are you going to do a private medical test? You dey fear? ![]() P.S.S. The medical test is for HIV, syphilis, TB (x-ray) and your medical history will be taken. Good luck on this one; you probably need it ![]() |
Delta007:Only one left; last one going for N130k!!! |
