Seriously, anyone that claims that Jonaadaft is a failure and at the same time feels the General is unsuitable without suggesting realistic names, not even one that can defeat the current failure in aso rock is just being deceptive. They can only deceive themselves. They are for the drunkard. Why look for a perfect candidate from an imperfect system? Why look for a saint from a group of peeps that aren't? Why look for sheep in the midst of wolves? The pros and cons of the General has been weighed and he is surely a better person to jonaadaft. The battle will be between both of them. It's either u choose one or stay mute biko. |

all4naija: That is nonsensical and blatant lie. Buhari is not a good candidate but a bad one who is among those who ruined this country. I don't know why Nigerians cannot fight for their rights at home but claims rights in other countries. Jeez! Not unexpected from someone that has sworn his entire being to succk jonaadaft cocck. Bringing out weak candidates to slug it out with the drunkard is ur aim. So the fool who led in the eating of a billion naira worth of food in a financial year in the midst of abject poverty isn't a bad candidate. Rubbish. |

I keep seeing epistles upon epistles but when asked to give specific alternatives who are ready to run and capable of delivering sufficient votes to defeat jonaadaft a known failure with his evil rigging machinery, none seems to come up with any. So what's the point? Abegi, later jor. Hopefully someone somewhere can bring up a potential name we can really really consider. U can't eat ur cake and still have it. Jonaadaft needs to go but if u want a saint with no blemish or faultless candidate then u are just deceiving ursef about wanting jonaadaft to leave. For now, considering all our other options the General is our best bet. |

naijababe: And Buhari has tested the waters how many times now? Yes El-Rufai is a loose canon but he is a credible loose canon, r'ber his stint as FCT minister? And I never said Kwankwaso is more credible, I'd much rather have him than Buhari. You asked for alternatives and I gave them. Buhari singlehandedly tested the waters and secure 12million votes. With the backing of a good structure, some governors, jonaadaft failure etc he can secure up to 20 million. Those are the kind of numbers we can work with. These are the potentials we are talking about. Those years he failed, he tried it on his own. Now is different. Trying to compare then and now that far more human, material resources are being put together than before is ridiculous. Of all the ones u mentioned, with these backings, how many do u think can secure 10 million? Elrufai isn't ready to be president, instead he wants to be governor instead why force him? He isn't a realistic option. U prefer less credible Kwankwaso to buhari for no stated reason right? Anyway, buhari will secure more votes than him. He is out. It's all about the numbers babe, buhari himself is no saint neither is he the perfect candidate and demdem surely isn't looking for what doesn't exist but he thumbs over all ur alternatives. Fielding any of ur so called alternatives will ensure easy win for jonaadaft. |

naijababe: Ribadu, El-Rufai, Rabiu Kwakwanso and Ibrahim Shekarau! Buhari can marshal his popularity and support behind any of these men since a Northern candidate has to be nominated. Ribadu, shekarau aren't in apc so those options are void. Besides these two have once tested the waters and it's obvious they can't secure the neccessary votes needed to defeat jonaadaft. EL-rufai to ur kind is a loose canon and I see no way anyone that rejects buhari won't reject him. What makes Kwankwaso more credible than Buhari? A hundred year old buhari will surely secure more votes than 50 years Kwankwaso even if he supports him. If it isn't Buhari, no matter the support, such can't command votes buhari can command. That's a fact. Stop playing on our intelligence and highlights them. It doesn't need to be a northerner. Anyone will do that can secure the neccessary votes. So go south and suggest if u have any. |

debosky: There are numerous other candidates in the APC - the key is for the party (including Buhari) to rally round and raise votes for whoever the party selects as its flag bearer. This thread isn't about floating other potential candidates.
That's the main problem many of you fail to grasp - you think an individual's vote pulling ability is the key to winning. Despite Buhari's personal popularity he has lost each and every election he has contested. That should give you food for thought.
The PDP doesn't win elections because of it's candidates' overwhelming popularity, they win because they can mobilise the electorate across the country not just in certain corners of the North. That is what any serious APC candidate will need to do. Debosky, i requested for a name and not further epistles. U claim there are numerous and yet just to mention one is a problem. U obviously didn't give because u Av none to give. Pending when u give specific names, especially willing ones, ur epistles remain theoretical at best. |

debosky: Buhari is too old to be realistically considering the presidency. We've been there and done that with the 'he was a good military president' experiment - see Obasanjo.
I am not impressed one bit by the messianic qualities some of you attribute to him - he will be able to 'face' the cabals eh? You think this is the 1980s under a military government where you can summarily lock up anyone you don't like? If Buhari is so great why has he - 30 years after leaving office - been unable to raise up a protege? Why is it all about his individual qualities?
I repeat - we can do much, much better. The fact that Buhari got 12m votes in 2011 is not even close to sufficient reason to choose him if your aim is to defeat Goodluck. Those votes were largely religious/tribal based - what is appealing about that to the rest of the country?
GEJ - warts and all, was a change from what we had previously in ex-military presidents/their family members. He has failed in my view, but that is no reason to resort to an 80 year old man who has woefully lost each and every election he has contested in, his integrity credentials not withstanding.
I don't want to live like it's 1985 in 2015 - do you? Good. Now give us specific names ( 1 or 2 should be OK) that has the potential to defeat the current curse in aso rock and his rigging machinery. Realistic names that are ready to run for elections. Let's consider ur examples. |

luvmijeje: Since Buhari declaration, I've been waiting for PDP to bring out corruption case against him, I've been been holding my breathe for someone else to tell us how compromise he was, I've waiting patiently for anyone to tell us how incompetent he was when entrusted with power.
The consensus so far is that he's is a man of integrity. He's competent. He's been tested and trusted. He knows what it takes to preside over a country. That's enough for me.
APC should do their part, we'll do the rest. Wellsaid. what i keep hearing is he is too old, and so what? the so called young leaders we have had like bankole, how did they fair? when asked to suggest alternatives, they give names that cant even individually command 100,000 votes in contrast to the general that delivered 12 million almost highhandedly. we shouldnt deceive ourselves. if indeed we are tired of jonaadaft and desire his exit now considering the killer party rigging machinery, the only potential candidate that can acheive this for now is General Buhari. |

Benue - Goodluck 8. C/River - Goodluck 9. Delta - Goodluck 10. Enugu - Goodluck 11. Ebonyi - Goodluck 12. Gombe - Buhari 13. Imo - Goodluck 14. Jigawa - Buhari 15. Kano - Buhari 16. Kaduna - Buhari. 17. Edo - Goodluck (small margin) 18. Kebbi - Buhari 19. Borno - Buhari 20. Lagos - Buhari 21. Niger - Buhari 22. Ondo - Goodluck 23. Oyo - Buhari 24. Ogun - Buhari 25. Osun - Buhari 26. Ekiti - Goodluck 27. Plateau - Goodluck 28. Kogi -Goodluck (small margin) 29. Kwara - Buhari 30. Rivers - Goodluck (small margin) 31. Sokoto state - Buhari 32. Nassarawa - Buhari(small margin) 33 Taraba - Buhari (small margin). 34 Yobe - Buhari 35. Zamfara - Buhari 36. Katsina - Buhari 37. FCT - DICEY.... As we can see Buhari has 20 states as against Goodluck's 16 states and if considering that the larger population of the electorates reside in the North and Southwest it stands to reason that Buhari will be our next president, but that is if the contest is going to be free and fair. The end of the road for jonaadaft. Kirikiri awaits the fool. |

wisdom77: GMB SPEECH...
First I would like, Mr Chairman, if I may, pay tribute to Nigerians as a whole who are enduring all sorts of hardships and deprivations on a daily basis. Many millions are grappling with extreme poverty and barely eking out a living. Nearly all are in fear of their lives or safety for themselves and their families due to Insurgency by the godless movement called Boko Haram;
By marauding murderers in towns and villages; By armed robbers on the highways; By kidnappers who have put whole communities to fright and sometimes to flight.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is everyone’s duty to resolve and help the national effort to overcome these immense challenges. I would like us to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of our Armed Forces under new leadership and police in confronting these challenges.
I would like, secondly, to thank our supporters up and down the country for their perseverance and resolve in face of an oppressive PDP government.
Mr Chairman, this is an occasion to celebrate our efforts and to resolve to continue until victory is won. I humbly wish to present myself before you, before all of Nigeria and before God seeking to be elected as APC’s Presidential candidate. Having appreciated that the only way to relieve Nigerians of the PDP, the main opposition parties decided to pool their strengths into one party. We have worked very hard in the last 18 months to put up structures from the polling units to wards, local governments, states and the centre.
We have tried to ensure all processes in our party formation to be transparent and credible. These structures will lead to free and fair polls. There is no point in holding elections if they are not free and fair.
Interference in the form of rigging which PDP Government has practised since 2003 is the worst form of injustice – denying people their right to express their opinions. Whether they like it or not, injustice cannot endure.
Since 1999 PDP has presided over our country’s decline. Nigeria in my experience has never been so divided, so polarized by an unthinking government hell bent on ruling and stealing forever whatever befalls the country. Mr Chairman, we in APC are resolved to stop them in their tracks and rescue Nigeria from the stranglehold of PDP.
The last 16 years of PDP Government has witnessed decline in all critical sectors of life in Nigeria
There is now general insecurity in the land
Quite apart from Boko Haram, there is prevalence of Armed Robbery, kidnappings and killings, cattle rustling, market and farmland arson.
These outrages have taken a new and a frightening dimension, disrupting economic and social life across whole communities.
The economy continues to deteriorate while the Government continues to announce fantastic growth figures but manufacturing is down, agriculture is down, commerce is down
Simply because you sell oil and steal part of the money does not entitle you to cook figures and announce phantom economic growth when all the major indices namely,
Employment Manufacturing Farming Trading
are demonstrably on the decline.
When PDP came to power in 1999 Nigeria was generating about 4,000 M/W of electricity. After 15 years and $20 billion spent we are generating between 3,000 – 4,000 M/W. No failure is more glaring than this.
We in APC are resolved to bring change to Nigeria. We plan to do things differently.
We plan to put priority on
Protection of lives and property. Pursuing economic policies for shared prosperity and immediate attention on youth employment. Quality education for development, modernity and social mobility. Agricultural productivity for taking millions out of poverty and ensuring food security. Reviving Industry to generate employment and “make things” not just to remain hawkers of other peoples’ goods. Developing solid minerals exploitation which will substantially attract employment and revenue for government. Restoring honour and integrity to public service by keeping the best and attracting the best. Tackling corruption which has become blatant and widespread. The rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption. Nigeria is a country where stealing is not corruption. Last, (but not the least or final) respecting the constitutional separation of powers between the executive, legislatures and judiciary and respecting the rights of citizens.
Mr Chairman, there, in outline are some policy proposals about the direction APC should take when, by the grace of God, we are given the responsibility of serving Nigeria in Government.
General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR Demdem endorses General Buhari. |
