it's a remote desktop tool that allows you to access your computer from anywhere. All you have to do is create an account on the logmein website, then install it on the computer you want access to remotely and then when you are home you can just log into your logmein account and access the computer.

I have told 4llerbuntu he just likes to do ijebu. On another note, since you are an android afficionado, why don't you download splashtop hd app on your phone and then on your workstation. With that, you will access the workstation remotely and then elevate your privileges from there.

basically, i want to know how to setup a remote desktop connection on a pc thats on a office LAN and behind a server.

thing is i can set it up from another device or pc connected to the office network but it has a local ip assigned by the server.

how do i get to make a connection from outside the LAN? ifconfig will always give 127.0.0.1 as inet address



tried teamviewer, but i cant afford a license, nor am i remotely interested in buying 1 sef.

i hope my question is clear?

My friend you are better of using 3rd party application like teamviewer or logmein. Don't be a cheapskate!

If you have server 2008 r2 and client pcs running windows 7, you can make use of the embedded remote desktop in win 7 but it's still kind of hit and miss cos you still have to do some tweaking on all the machines.

Those applications would bypass all the restrictions of using an embedded RDP and give you hitch free remote connection. Most companies use logmein or teamviewer.

do you have OS disc ?
did anyone change the settings in the BIOS

changing disk only works if disk is a clone or copy of disk you took out if not it wont work you have to do a fresh install

Obviously, you have changed the hard drive. Your pc is now bare metal, you need to get an operating system to install.

There's an upgrade path from vista business to windows 7 pro. You just need to get a windows 7 cd and do an in-place upgrade i.e you have to slot the cd in while you vista is on (not boot with it). It will direct you from there. You will no lose your files by doing an upgrade but its advisable to have a back-up.
