Only the so-called fanatics are true adherents to islam. moderate muslims are lazy sissy wimps who can't be bothered going through the confusing arabic d1ck scribble that mo' authored.

Islam is violent! Just pickup a koran and read and you will see all evidence to the contrary that Islam is a Religion of Peace.
and you know these becausehuh

tdade: One thing that bugs me is how, when things like this happen, you see some muslims tweeting(and posting) 'islam is a religion of peace'. Now, I get their good intentions but I feel, they should instead go on rallies and week-long protests on how islam is a religion of peace so the extremists can understand their version of Islam - rather than sitting in a comfy chair and posting without action. Its gotten to a stage where those who believe in the peaceful version start proving how it is INDEED peaceful.
And every Muslim has to continually take responsibility for someone else's action?

How many times have you carried placards denouncing the criminal activities of Nigerians?

kulgee001: This guy is a criminal/terrorist who claims he is a muslim. He has been in and out of jail before now. He has a criminal history. I don't know how you all missed that part.
I wonder o.

I pity Mujahid so much. I wish he met the right Muslims, heard the right sermons and lived as a Mu'min. May Allah have mercy on his soul.

tdade: Alarmingly true. But what exactly can be done to curb this trend?
To preach the true Islam.

Fact is many more people will find Islam.attractive and will revert. Keeping them on track is a role Muslim leaders have to play. The reverts naturally tend to go miles faster than they should and are easy preys.

God help them.

TheBookWorm: What I can't understand is why do these religious extremist stay in countries that they hate?

Maybe they should move to Saudi Arabia, Yemen or Pakistan instead of coming to nations that value secularism.

There they can have their sharia while people who want to live in the modern age can live in peace.
Actually religious extremists will find even Saudi hard to live in. Many of you can not differrentiate the normal Muslim from an extremist.

The land belongs to all however. An extremist knows that more than anyone else .

It is okay that ALL Muslims are terrorists because Mujahid is a terrorist just how, all of you Nigerians are now terrorists because Adebolajo is one.

cold: Correction..i am saying it is a whole lot easier for religious people to steal because the concept of forgiveness makes it so easy to commit whatever crime no matter how heinous & beg for forgiveness & all will be forgiven. Why can't Allah stop the act before it is committed rather than wait for some petty prayers for forgiveness? Surely you would agree with me that if Allah stopped an evil act before it is perpetrated, this world would be a much better place.
ON the issue of contradictions, pray tell, why would so called pious Muslims continue to pillage the nation's resources alongside their Christian counterparts if they knew they enormity of their actions & the consequences therein? Shouldn't they know better?
Actually not. Religious people know that the steps towards forgiveness are hard to take and would therefore rather not engage in those acts.

Returning the loot, seeking forgiveness and making up their mind on never doing it again are not easy acts.

Anyone who fails to do these is aware of the punishment of the hereafter and will therefore either stay away from onset, face the.embarrassment of.seeking forgiveness and paying back or wait until judgement day for the more severe punishment.

Deep Sight: Why cant a woman say Talaq Talaq talaq?

Why cant a woman marry four husbands? And talaq them as she pleases?

Why do you think only men are seduced by flesh. Why dont you consider that women are also seduced by men's bodies, and as such, men should dress like ninjas and cover every part of their bodies except their eyes. Infact they should also cover their eyes, because as we all know, eyes can be hugely seductive.

What goes on in Saudi Arabia is nothing short of gender apartheid.
Many of you hear the News and make conclusions. People who live among arabs or that have lived among them can tell you that their women, on an average are not complaining.

About men being attracted to women, the effect is definitely different from when men are the ones attracted. You hear of women being raped but same can not be said of men.
Islam › Re: Why Are Muslim Women Mistreated So Much? by deols(f): 4:32pm On May 24, 2013
ffo: 1. women are not allowed to go to stadium to watch football match in saudi
2. it is haram for a muslim woman to marry a non muslim but a muslim man can marry a non muslim
3. women are not allowed to drive cars in saudi
4. women can not travel for pilgrimage to saudi without being accompanied by a man
5. women are to cover their faces (highest level of 'decent' dressing) while emphasis is not laid on men's dressing
5. a muslim man can marry up to 4 wives but a muslim woman is only entitled to only one man
etc etc etc
You need to explain how all of these translate to being mistreated.

I actually like many of these and I am a Muslim woman smiley

Mustay: Imams (especially those who don't) need to emphasize the "H" when it comes to this too. The idea of 'skipping' the part of one's source of donation to charity is not ideal - am saying this esepcially when they host political office holders although the admonition isn't limited to this class; Nigeria's situation however makes me point this out. In fact, when it comes to the personality & post of an Imam, this person needs to be like an auditor - independednt and free from external influences if you know what I mean.

Similarly, if you withdraw the interest from your bank and give it to beggars, scholars say you should not consider this charity, how much less stealing, embezzlement, money laundering et al. The shariah forbids these things due to their larger effects on the society - skewed distribution of wealth is one among the consequences.

People should not hide under the pretext of using a bad source to do good via masjids - like money laundering too, the source is bad but the criminal channels the distribution to 'investment' areas in his/her own belief of 'repentance'.
need I say more?

@cold
*You agree that trying to evade justice is bad and you described it as cancerous.

*Someone who goes to hajj, etc is hopeful that Allah would forgive him. He however needs to do the needful, as enumerated above to get Allah's forgiveness.

*If he believes Allah does not exist, he won't need to go for the hajj and do all you mentioned above. You contradicted yourself.

*You are soo wrong about the zakaat part. Nothing in Islam allows you to pay zakaat from stolen money. In fact, Islam is strict witj regards to how money is made.

You seem though to be trying to say that people who steal are not religious. There is a big possibility that non religious people would more likely engage in such acts since they don't believe in the punishment of the hereafter.
Islam › Re: What To Do About Your Ill-gotten Wealth. by deols(op): 3:45pm On May 24, 2013
^^^You are right. Mustay pointed out that there are other ways of getting wealth the wrong way and I agree.

The main idea of the thread is to discuss the way out. Paying a little in charity, paying zakaat out of it or trying corrupt means out must be discouraged.

Caracta: Donate to TeHn (Nairaland charity)...it could help save lives.
The attitude of stealing a large sum and then paying a little in charity should be discouraged. The need for such charities would not come up in the first place if no one steals from the national coffers.
How does one restitute for ill gotten wealth in the case of ritualists? How do u return/refund whatever. Better not do the crime because you may never be able to do the time
You can skip the refund part and keep to the rest. If it involves continual visit to the ritualist or the use of incantations, those can henceforth be stopped.

Mustay: Appears recommendations have already been provided.

Personally, it shouldn't even be gotten in the first place. Am very conscious of my source(s) of income; even (in)formal riba.

Funny, there are some other ways that are ill-gotten that we are seduced into it. One I remember is online football predicition games - though harmless, there are subtle ways one can be 'enticed' to earn income illegally.

The sources are broad, you could do well to expand them smiley
You are right. Riba(usury) is a broad subject on its own. Gambling is another way of earning the wrong way. Eating from an orphan's inheritance the wrong way too.

babyosisi: That was a pew poll
Half of Nigerian Muslims view extremist ideology favorably
The problem is the teachings in the Koran itself
To ask Muslims to stop violence is to ask them to drop the Koran

http://www.pewglobal.org/2010/12/02/muslims-around-the-world-divided-on-hamas-and-hezbollah/
Why on earth would I trust such.

But if you are talking of hamas, you should naturally expect sympathy from Muslims all over the world. Categorizing them.as a terrorist group would not do justice.

Many people can not differentiate the freedom fighters from the extremists. That would not help such a poll. IMHO.

Islam › Re: Why Are Muslim Women Mistreated So Much? by deols(f): 7:41am On May 24, 2013
The answer is contextual.

There are instances where a woman cannot play the same role as a man and there are others where they are equals.

In the home, the man is the head but that doesn't take a woman's individuality away from her. She can make money, make decisions pertaining to her, seek divorce and do a lot within the confines of Islam.

In spirituality, each is judged according to their deeds.

A woman has the bigger right of custody to their children at very young ages and even can demand pay for her services in cases of divorce.

You would need to give it a holistic approach to see the wisdom behind the rules guiding Islamic principles.

Gboliwe: They dont have to be caught before they restitute. That is the term christians use for this.

They should first see that what they did or are doing is a sin, and desire to change from it
I didn't say they have to be caught. This is to everyone who has engaged in the act.
Islam › What To Do About Your Ill-gotten Wealth. by deols(op): 4:36am On May 24, 2013
We have heard of a few people caught in the act, of corruption. Some Muslim names, inclusive. Farouq Lawan comes to mind, So does Babalakin.

It is no doubt that corruption is a sin. While finding a way out, many people fall into deeper sins. Here is a list of what I think a Muslim who has engaged in the act, caught or yet to be, should do in order to earn the forgiveness of Allah.

1. Return the stolen money, goods, e.t.c

2. Ask the people for forgiveness. They could be the generality of Nigerians, the people in your state, locality. Simply, the people whose money you embezzled.

3.Ask God to forgive you.- this you must do.in sincerity.

4. Serve your sentence- this is very important. Many try even corrupt means to evade their sentencing, thereby accumulating more sins. Never forget that the punishment of Allah is graver, more severe. With you allowing the law to take its course, the likelihood of God forgiving you is even higher. A person who is yet to be caught doesn't have to present himself for sentencing.

5. Do not go back to it Have it in mind that corruption is sin, the type to run away from and to never get back to.

6. Believe in God's favour and the concept of forgiveness.

tbaba1234: Deols, an fusha is modern standard arabic. The Quranic arabic is ancient arabic. Arabic has undergone changes just like any language, the classical arabic of the quran is far richer than modern standard arabic.

Read the introduction of the threads: The amazing quran season 1 , Divine speech season 1.

I explained it there.
In this manner, arabic would be classified into three then. with the third having so many variants.
