IslamRe: Turkey Lifts Decades-old Ban On Headscarves by deols(f): 4:14pm On Oct 09, 2013
The last Islamic caliphate was in Turkey. Anyone would have expected that the best Islamic practices would be found there.

Mustafa Ataturk brought secular ideologies to defeat Islamic principles. But the majority of the over 90% Muslim population did not agree to it. Voting a government that promises CHANGE could not have provided a better reflection of that.

Alhamdulillah, after so many years, the truth comes to stand, STILL.

This is one of the cases that remind you to look well before you leap marry.
FamilyRe: Tribal Mark Issue by deols(f): 12:43pm On Oct 09, 2013
I don't believe this.

It is more unbelievable that the wife's mother did it.

Traditionally, the mark of their father's family would be the right one to give to the children.

I thought this stopped happening like a century ago.

ShehuAba: Succintly put: You think that the major reason for you to get married is LOVE
It is my remuneration for marriage.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 11:21am On Oct 09, 2013
I did not find anything to disagree with on your post.

maybe the last part sha that I have more to add to.I think what keeps it going is all the things you share including the children. The chemistry you share and the understanding are parts of the reason you love them. They are not a separate entity from love. Without understanding, you cannot claim love.

All the things you did or got as a result of the love will keep things going. Not that it happens all of the time But it at least gives you a memory to cherish.

I in fact believe that people who love each other have a more common ground to unite than those who dont.

Probably my definition of love is still not widely understood. Infatuation is different from love.

I actually have a friend who is the person who has done the worst things to me ever. The reason I call her my friend is because we have had good times as well. No matter what she does, the good times come to mind and just make me forget the worst.

deols: This love talk brought a question to my mind. I even asked the girl close to me and she looked blank for the first few seconds and then we busted into laughter together.

The question is ..Why do You want to get married?

minus the half of the deen part. I mean, what in it for you.
I had the thought that I'd be the first to answer this question and so here I am, answering undecided

I don't think that there is a gap in my life that needs anyone to fill it. The companionship that people talk about is not even enough reason to marry.

I would not be needing a partner for my chores nor to pay my fees.

In short, I think I am self sustaining, @ least at the moment.

so, if really I am considering bringing anyone else into my life, there has got to be something that I lack that I want them to come and provide but I don't see any.

It leaves me with nothing else to actually seek. Here is where LOVE comes in to me.

I think that is the only thing I'd really appreciate, be loyal to, compromise for, etc.

I really don't see what else that would make me subjective to anyone.

Btw, I have met many good people and I just cannot be subjected to living the rest of my life with them, just like that.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op):
tbaba1234: I am not trying to convince you. I think we all learn as we grow so maybe you might still get something beneficial. I might also learn as well. That, i think is the essence of communication. I only share my experiences.

Marriage could be hard work in the real sense of the word particularly when things are not working so great. Young people (myself included) build this unreal world where two parties are in love, and they live happily ever after. The reality is that life throws many curve-balls and there will be turns that you never expect. People do not always separate because of a lack of love. Many of these curve balls will not be resolved by how much you love the person. Other attributes come to the fore at that point. It sometimes depends on how much you want this to work or how patient you can be.

When people say: Love will conquer, I wonder what exactly is this Love? All it is, is an emotional attraction to a person. Love can also destroy as well. It all depends on the fruits of that love. People kill for love, don't they?... Love itself is just a feeling. Fullstop. It could bring about beautiful fruits as well as ugly ones.

I am an emotional person and hope to be heads over heels in love with a good woman but more importantly i want to be appreciative of her and be open and loyal to her. I am looking for a best friend. In sha Allah.
I dont know how many times I have to say this. I will keep saying it for as long as you keep hammering on things not getting perfect. Nothing in my post says it makes the world perfect. and nothing says that people in love don't have all those other things that you claim make the marriage work. And I am not a kid to assume that people in love dont ever have problems. People not in love do have problems too.

so, I'd rather at least be in love and enjoy that than stay out of love in expectation of problems.

Let me try an analogy and see if that works. So you have exams. and some people study but fail and so you decide not to study because the possibility of failure is there. How very smart?

Again, I didn't say that love makes the world perfect. Things are better with the person you love.

Siblings have problems and just move on despite it. It may not be easy to Just move on with somebody else.

what makes it easy with the sibling is the love shared.

In marriage, the love makes things easier.

Well, You would have to convince me on that and since you have not, my opinion remains the same.

What helps people keep on is a reminiscence of what it was like when the going was good.

They will work their differences with love and the thought of what the love could be will reunite them.
^ we sound like exact opposites.

I rarely get what I desire, so as soon as I desire something, I immediately remove my mind from it.

@ deols.
awww. I really wish you'd get what you want more often.

I am an Optimist and I have a good taste in most things. I may not be so good at most things, @ first but I get there, to the zenith, most of the time. I just don't ever give up. It is a good attitude. Give it a try please.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 7:03pm On Oct 08, 2013
tbaba1234: What I am saying is that, you are putting it on a much higher pedestal.

It is not all the time, you will feel like you love your spouse. There are times, you will want to break his head. That is the real test of your union.

You also love many people that you don't want to marry.
How long do I have to say it o.

I have given like a million examples of my belief in love being a conqueror.

But I did not say that there would be no problems. Are you saying that people who don't put love first have no problems?

It is easier to have that problem with love involved is what I am saying. With love, you would not break his head even if iy deserves to be broken.

Like what I said earlier..

'she hurt me but I wish her the best still.'

I have even read such tales on NL when people were asked about their first love.

Sissie: @deols Nah there's nothing wrong to want the love "in love" madly in love, soulmate kind of love, it's just we all don't get "lucky" to have that.
Yeah. I know smiley It is just not in my nature to accept that I wont have something I desire.

I'll probably have it wink in sha Allah
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 5:00pm On Oct 08, 2013
loyalty, patience and all of those things will keep the marriage going. I believe it is easy being loyal to the one you love. Even running errands for them would be soooo easy.

There is no guaranty of anything.

People can even fall out of love.

But for the time being, it is very much enjoyable with love involved.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 4:56pm On Oct 08, 2013
infatuation is often confused with love.

love is not limited to one.

meaning you can love in a non-romantic way.

eg i love eba, or i love fufu, likewise love can also apply to people who do not excite you romantically.

the picture tbaba posted for instance, reminiscent of people's (maybe great) grandpas and grandmas, they dont need to be hot and beautiful in order to be loved their "lovees".

i put "great" in parentheses because many grandmas and grandpas these days are indeed looking like runway models.
But we are using love in a context here. The context of one partner in marriage.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 4:51pm On Oct 08, 2013
tbaba1234: Actually, I think it is less than that. This notion is sold by movies.

There are many people madly in love but seperated or divorced. And there are people who love themselves just enough to be married and they live very happy lives.

So many other factors are needed for a successful marriage. Love is important but you have to also make effort. ( grin I know, I know).

Trust, loyalty, appreciation et.c are more important
.
bold #1- love is still in it abi?

bold #2 - exactly what I was saying

bold #3- I did not say they are not important. Many loyal women still have their loads packed out by the disloyal gitl that the husband is now in love with.

You know, I don't need for anyone to accept my movie-love. It is very important to me and is not changing, ever.

I am loyal to like a 100 people right now but I wont marry them.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 4:44pm On Oct 08, 2013
funny question.

Love includes understanding and chemistry.

You can have chemistry with many people but you can only love ONE.

I have friends whom I share chemistry with but I can not marry them.

Very funny that this is the first time I see chemistry being used in replacement for Love. I can not even believe it yet. I need to sleep and wake up first. LOL

ShehuAba: Question Of The Day:
Which of the following do you think is mostly needed for a sucessful Marriage with reasons:
1. LOVE
2. UNDERSTANDING
3. CHEMISTRY
