FoodRe: Are There Vegetarians In Nigeria? by deols(f): 5:08pm On Oct 05, 2013
adeaugustus:
Personally I became a vegetarian because I couldn't bear the guilt of an animal losing it's life because I want to "feed" myself with meat. It's unfair. Another reason was when I started dissection in human anatomy laboratory, whenever I see meat, the first thing that comes to mind is human flesh, and I'd be like "Hello No!" am not eating that. I still find it difficult to eat meat.
You don kolo be that..

heheh. see a psychologist please

Are you on a weight loss diet?

Many people who diet after getting the desired result ho back to eating all they stopped eating.

It doesn't make them vegetarians. Plus vegetarians eat carbohydrates.

I hope you are not starving yourself. It could be very bad for you.
FashionRe: Women And Braids ..is It Worth It? by deols(f): 3:43pm On Oct 05, 2013
I get bored sitting while my hair(natural) is plaited.

I cannot imagine sitting for hours for the thousand braids.

To me, it is a waste of time. I cannot be caught at it.
HealthRe: Efficent Weight Loss Technique Required For A Teenager by deols(f): 6:06am On Oct 05, 2013
I don't know what the weight is but I hope a teenager isn't being pressured about what she looks like.

It should be the least of her worries right now. I hope she is not focused on something that can totally damage her self esteem.

That said, I think she can be engaged in a lot of activities including skipping, and swimming. They should be things that are fun to her and that she can keep to.

But she should not go on an extreme diet. But can cut her carbohydrates intake and eat more vegetables.

she should be spoken to about the need to lose weight in the best way and with love so that she would keep to it and not be ashamed of herself.

I wish I can express myself better on this. I do sad

onegig: many do but its known worldwide that monday to friday is the official working days. As for me the weekends start on a friday truly and ends saturday night because sunday brings that erie feeling of the impending monday.
TGIF to me is only because it is jumuah day sha..

Friday is so much work and in some parts of the world though, just to correct the 'all over the world' part, friday is a week end.

I mean, people work from sunday through thursday.
FamilyRe: The Family Section Fun Room!! by deols(f): 9:23pm On Oct 04, 2013
onegig: for the party type yes. The weekend starts on friday night. People have to unwind and relax after working hard through five weekdays.
five week days?

don't people work on saturday?

I see many people working on saturdays.
HealthRe: Help!!!..i Have Been Purging Persistently For Over One Month Now !!! by deols(f): 9:20pm On Oct 04, 2013
since it is not as you used to have it, hence seeking advice, you should see a doctor who would make you take necessary tests and make a diagnosis.

There is no way anyone here can help you without having seen you and examined you.

drink plenty water and see a doctor.
well, it IS a man's world, the only way a woman can get some little leeway is if she pulls some economic clout that can compete with the men.

nigerian or african men in particular, would see little wrong in those ideas.

as per ramadan cooking, though, why is that an issue? Where should the man eat during ramadan? huh

not being sarcastic, I'm asking because i dont know.

do you mean general cooking for many people, or the husband alone.
You did not get my point about the ramadan cooking.

Of course I want to be married is because I want to be married is because I found someone I loved and who loves me and want to spend the rest of my life with...

and not because he found me and wants me to cook his food.

Marriage does not have to be narrowed down to make only as much sense as the wife duty. It has to be much more than that.

baba11: My own belief are that:understanding and compatibility supercede every other things in any relationship!
Most of the time, when there is understanding, all of these things will not be an issue.

I know of a man who left the love of his life for outrageous reasons. For societal dictates of what is right or wrong.

Many years later and an unhappy life, they realise they may have worked it out and may have made it together.

People just need to break from that bond of culture and societal demand especially when their Islam is not threatened by breaking away from it.

I thought RR got busy moderating and left our dear thread to YPP.

but I actually wanna ask, how true is the TGIF.

Does the weekend really start on friday? Is everyone excited about friday?

That the back seats are the safest is true.

I remember the plane crash that killed army officers in Nigeria. The lowest ranking ones survived. They must have sat at the back.

FoodRe: Are There Vegetarians In Nigeria? by deols(f): 8:45pm On Oct 04, 2013
I never bought nor ate a vegetarian pizza until last week. why buy one anyway since d reason to eat it is for all the meaty and fruity and sometimes crunchy stuff.

But last week I decided to buy one. It was literally bitter. But they cut the 'vegetables' in a way that they appear like meat. The olive was too much.

Then I just wondered what a life it is with a vegetarian. and the need to even make those things look like meat is more amazing. it is like a gay man dressed like a woman-deceiving himself.

So I wanted to know what they eat here and if they try yo make themselves feel like they are eating meat. More importantly, I am genuinely concerned about what protein substitutes they eat and give advice based on my knowledge of Nutrition.

IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 5:51am On Oct 03, 2013
deols,

to tell the truth, if not for the religion factor (no offence), muslim men who are enlightened, make very good husbands UNTIL (see below).

like i said, i dont know many muslim/muslim couples, the "muslim" couples i know, are mainly mixed (ie muslim/christian), so maybe i do not have a clear picture, but to the best of my knowledge, such unions are usually very ok UNTIL the muslim partner decides he wants to get more religious.

thats why many christian families in nigeria, do not give their consent for their daughters to have muslim suitors, its due to this fact, which no doubt most likely isnt news to you.

so, you probably know your men better than i do, but speaking from a general perspective, i rarely hear of rancour in the unions i know of (christian couples actually have more issues than them), until the above happens (ie the man gets extremely religious, etc etc). If the woman is in it for the short term, maybe it wont matter, but if not, she may be devastated.

however, there is also a possibility the couples in question, just do not broadcast their disagreements, so people arent aware they have them.

and no doubt, women's status is very low in nigeria, so there will definitely be a lot of mistreatment going on in many marriages, compounded by lack of exposure, other issues, etc etc.
I am not blaming religion for the problem. But probably because our discussion on here is religion based, happenings have to be interpreted in relation to it.

There are many factors actually. Religion can not be excused though. If you have heard local Imams preaching on marriage, they always emphasise the role of the wife leaving out that of the husband. They even add those not in the qur'an and form stories about women who got into paradise because of the ridiculous ways they treated their husbands right.

so an average Muslim in Southwest is getting married with the thought that the one to carry out his dirty laundry is on the way. When she is incapable of that, she is bad. Do you ever wonder why wedding ceremonies take place close to ramadan? they even commonly use the statement, 'so the wife can come cook for him in ramadan'.

Poverty and illiteracy or pseudo education are other factors.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 5:36am On Oct 03, 2013
Yes, it is wrong, but i'm not necessarily getting what that particular example has to do with the discussion.

Do you expect your future spouse will ask you to do such when you are married?

Or were you simply giving an extreme example of how men can go overboard with demands?

As per your alpha male reference, of course we know that does not apply overseas, or with most marriages today. However, we also have to realize over assertiveness has a different effect on a man than women realize or maybe they just dont care.

I'm actually starting to wonder if that treat men like babies thing is the language of today, i might be out of touch.
Yes. I was talking about the demand and not the violence itself. In the case mentioned, he did not even ask her to. Others did and her not joining at it was the problem.

Many have learnt the husband is the head part. A few learn the being best to their wives one.

and while it is clearly stated how much bad disobeying the husband is, it is not so for an unruly man.

so you see, many men think they can do and undo as they deem fit. That is where I have a problem. It won't have to affect me But I am bothered about those it affects.
