A Russian Su-35 fighter jet conducted an "unsafe" intercept on Sunday of a US Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime reconnaissance aircraft operating over the Mediterranean Sea, the US Navy said in a statement. For the second time in just four days, a Russian fighter jet conducted an "unsafe" intercept of a US aircraft over the Mediterranean Sea, the US Navy said Sunday. According to a Navy press release , in a period of roughly an hour and a half on Sunday, a Russian Su-35 fighter twice intercepted a US Navy P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft operating in international airspace over the Mediterranean. While the first intercept was acceptable, the Navy considered the second to be "unsafe and unprofessional." During the risky intercept, the Navy says the Russian fighter executed a "high-speed, high-powered maneuver that decreased aircraft separation to within 25 feet, directly in front of the P-8A, exposing the US aircraft to wake turbulence and jet exhaust." The P-8A descended in order to create space between it and the Russian fighter jet. The Navy accused the Russian pilot of "seriously jeopardizing the safety of flight of both aircraft." The service captured the incident on video. Sunday's intercept follows a similar incident on April 15, when a Russian Su-35 intercepted a P-8A over the Mediterranean, conducting "a high-speed, inverted maneuver, 25 ft. directly in front of the mission aircraft," the Navy said in a statement issued at the time. The Navy said the actions of the Russian aircraft were "irresponsible" and accused Russia of putting "our pilots and crew at risk." In both cases, the Navy said, the US aircraft did not provoke the Russian fighters. https://www.businessinsider.com/video-russian-fighter-jet-unsafe-intercept-of-us-navy-aircraft-2020-4 |
IMO01:Yea you are right, i once read about the Berbers that conquered the Iberian peninsula. People like Tarif Ibn Malik and Tarq Ibn Ziyad. According to English historian Edward Gibbon (1737-1794). Tarif accompanied by 400 African berbers successfully carried out mission in South Iberia. An important port city in Tarifa in southern Spain is named after him. This city was the first port in history where fees were charged from merchants for the use of berths. This is where the term "tariff" comes from. On the basis of Tarif's intelligence operation, Arab general also of Berberian origin from the Nafza tribe, Tariq ibn Ziyad (670-720) Tariq commanded an army of 10,000 people, mostly berbers from Sanhaji union. In 711, brave Tariq with his expeditionary forces of 7,000 berbers crossed the strait and landed near a rock that was latwr named in his honour, Gibraltar. The word "Gibraltar" is a hispanicized version of an Arab phrase "Jabal Tariq". In August of 711, Tariq won a decisive victory over the European army. Topic like this should be making front page but NL mods won't do the needful. |

The U.S. Space Command said Wednesday it is tracking a direct-ascent anti-satellite (DA-ASAT) missile test Russia conducted to prove if it can interfere with or destroy satellites in low earth orbit. "Russia's DA-ASAT test provides yet another example that the threats to U.S. and allied space systems are real, serious and growing," Gen. John "Jay" Raymond, SPACECOM commander and U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations, said in a released statement. "The United States is ready and committed to deterring aggression and defending the nation, our allies, and U.S. interests from hostile acts in space." Space Command officials said the most recent test follows unprofessional behavior observed in February when two Russian satellites, Cosmos 2542 and 2543, tailed an American satellite, USA 245, also known as the KH-11. Time Magazine reported the Russian satellites loitered within 100 miles of KH-11, activity Raymond called "unusual and disturbing," similar to Russia's past risky, high-velocity confrontations in international airspace. Space Command officials said the most recent test follows unprofessional behavior observed in February when two Russian satellites, Cosmos 2542 and 2543, tailed an American satellite, USA 245, also known as the KH-11. Time Magazine reported the Russian satellites loitered within 100 miles of KH-11, activity Raymond called "unusual and disturbing," similar to Russia's past risky, high-velocity confrontations in international airspace. "This test is further proof of Russia's hypocritical advocacy of outer space arms control proposals designed to restrict the capabilities of the United States while clearly having no intention of halting their counterspace weapons programs," Raymond said. After its deactivation in 2002, Space Command reactivated in August to become the military's 11th combatant command. "Space is critical to all nations and our way of life. The demands on space systems continue in this time of crisis where global logistics, transportation and communication are key to defeating the COVID-19 pandemic," Raymond said. "It is a shared interest and responsibility of all spacefaring nations to create safe, stable and operationally sustainable conditions for space activities, including commercial, civil and national security activities." The Russian test follows two new reports that infer disruptive anti-satellite actions by adversary nations are on the rise. According to a March 30 Center for Strategic and International Studies analysis, "Space Threat Assessment 2020," more countries, including big players like the U.S., Russia and China, are launching or experimenting with next-generation technologies in space; some are gradually normalizing non-kinetic ways to disrupt operations. Those methods include disguising information and communications through GPS spoofing, jamming connections and even dazzling, or blinding, satellites with lasers. The report warned of increased co-orbital adversary activity, such as close inspection of satellites in geostationary orbit, and said that "the rate of satellite jamming and spoofing incidents will only increase as these capabilities continue to proliferate and become more sophisticated in the coming years." That report followed another study released last month by the Secure World Foundation, which stated countries around the world should not discount the reality that some bad actors may be stepping up both offensive and defensive measures in space. "The evidence shows significant research and development of a broad range of kinetic (destructive) and non-kinetic counter-space capabilities in multiple countries," according to the annual Global Counterspace Capabilities study, as reported by Space News. According to a 2019 SWF report, Russia has been working on stepping up its on-orbit experiments -- to include anti satellite weapons -- since at least 2011. The US Navy released video that it says shows Iranian naval vessels repeatedly conducting "dangerous and harassing approaches" towards US Navy warships in the North Arabian Sea on Wednesday and claimed that one Iranian vessel came within 10 yards of colliding with a US ship. The video of the incident appears to show multiple Iranian flagged vessels, with men manning guns at the front of those ships, passing in front of a US naval vessel. The guns do not appear to be pointed at the ship, which sounds a horn multiple times as the Iranian vessels approach. According to a statement from US Central Command, 11 Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy vessels "repeatedly conducted dangerous and harassing approaches" of the USS Lewis B. Puller, USS Paul Hamilton, USS Firebolt, USS Sirocco, USCGC Wrangell and USCGC Maui "while the US vessels were conducting joint integration operations with US Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopters in the international waters of the North Arabian Gulf." "The IRGCN vessels repeatedly crossed the bows and sterns of the U.S. vessels at extremely close range and high speeds, including multiple crossings of the Puller with a 50-yard closest point of approach (CPA) and within 10 yards of Maui's bow," the statement said. The dangerous encounter comes as tensions between Iran and the US remain high after more than a year of the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign against Tehran and its January killing of Iran's second most powerful leader, Gen. Qasem Soleimani. President Donald Trump tweeted in early April that the US believed that "Iran or its proxies are planning a sneak attack on U.S. troops and/or assets in Iraq" and warned that "if this happens, Iran will pay a very heavy price, indeed!" US military commanders have developed options for Trump to respond in the event of other incidents, according to two defense officials. In the meantime, Iranian leaders have accused the US of economic terrorism, saying Washington's sanctions have made it hard to get medical supplies even as the country struggles with the coronavirus. Most recently, the US has moved to block the International Monetary Fund from providing aid to Iran to respond to the pandemic. Wednesday's Navy statement said US crews "issued multiple warnings via bridge-to-bridge radio, five short blasts from the ships' horns and long range acoustic noise maker devices, but received no response" from the Iranian vessels for approximately one hour until they "responded to the bridge-to-bridge radio queries, then maneuvered away from the U.S. ships and opened distance between them." CNN has asked the Iranian government for comment. Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Tuesday that the US has been closely monitoring the behavior of Iran and other adversaries amid the coronavirus pandemic. "While we continue to support the whole-of-nation, whole-of-government response to this global pandemic, we continue our very important national security missions such as performing counterterrorism missions from Africa through the Middle East to Afghanistan; conducting freedom-of-navigation operations and patrolling the high seas to ensure freedom of navigation around the globe; monitoring North Korean weapons tests; improving our defensive posture in Iraq; escorting Russian bombers out of U.S. airspace; deterring Iranian bad behavior," Milley said at a Pentagon press conference. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/15/politics/us-iran-ships-arabian-sea/index.html

"Religion is an aspect of the superstructure of a society deriving ultimately from the degree of control and understanding of the material world. However when man thinks in religious terms, he starts from the ideal rather than with the material world which is beyond his comprehension. This creates a non-scientific and metaphysical way of viewing the world, which often conflicts with the society" - Walter Rodney Religion ain't bad the soul connects with his maker through religion. Even i disagree with the great philosopher Karl Marx in his Das Kapital, he argued that religion would vanish and wither away with the disappearance of classes in the societ he considered religion to be a product of man's conciousness it is a reflection of man's nature in the world of private property, being alienated from the product of his labour religion is his opium. You can't take religion from man it has come here to stay but you can wound and underdevelop yourself with that religion if you are not careful that is the case in Africa. The western world had christianity when it ushered in the capitalist epoch that birthed the industrial revolution and they keep advancing to this day and still practice christianity. So religion is not the problem but man himself the way you handle your religion based on your personal conviction would go a long way to determine your advancment. |
Victorblaze14:This is the problem i have with my fellow christians they always think they have answers to every life question. Bro every christian is asking this question and the answer we need are with the men of God who performs miracles and healing. If you are a church member in any of their churches just ask them why they couldn't heal or cure corona virus patients. If they are curing cancer, epilepsy, giving sight to blind, kidney diseases, pulling people out of wheel chair. Then why is simple acute pneumonia(corona) difficult for them to handle. Some faith healing/miracle pastors are even the ones admonishing their church members to take enough lime, lemon and exercise well in order to boost their immune system against the corona. Isn't it funny? Get this book "Where was God?" by Pastor Erwin Lutzer Don't try to answer this question for them or do you perform miracles too? |

Auladimeji:No that's not it. It's called cold war flight both countries did this during the cold war era. It is done to intimidate and to probe each other air defenses. Infact America indulged in it most during the cold war with consequences. Gary Powers was shut down over siberia in 1960 during a U-2 reconnaisance mission over Siberia, he was mapping and filming Russia's nuclear site. Caotain Charles Maultsby was on this mission when he mistakenly strayed into Soviet airspace over the Chukota peninsula. America's "Operation Giant Lance" when U.S. B-52 Bombers armed with nuclear weapons moved closer to Soviet Airspace in an attempt to intimidate Soviet-Russia during the Vietnam war Both countries stopped it after the cold war ended but Russia resumed it in year 2007 as part of its plans to get back on the world stage. And that Turbofan plane there is a Tupolev bear a cold war era strategic bomber. |
