BusinessRe: Crowd Funding In Nigeria. Intelligent minds, lets discuss. by Desanta(m): 9:45am On Jun 01, 2013
Interesting, but I hope it is not going to die at the level of mere speeches. There seem to be no ground rules and no concrete means of meeting, especially for those outside Lagos. How do you/the group intend to build trust?

pappilo: False. I bought Tbills worth N500,000 through GT Bank yesterday. Do not believe "dem say, dem say", go to your bank and tell them to give you more information about buying TBills. The more learned guys here have confirmed that banks will help buy TBills from N100,000 and above. It costs them nothing to help you buy as your application to buy will just form part of a combined bid. They will even make money off you, 0.125% + a possible 0.5% COT.
Very correct, but COT is now 0.3%.

When you use a savings account, you do not pay COT. No other charge apart from the commission of 0.125%. I use a savings account with FBN plc. All the best in you bid.

Inflation Drops To 8.6 Percent, Lowest In 5 Years

How does this affect the Nigerian Treasury Bill yield/interest? I guess it will negatively affect it.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 10:35am On Apr 05, 2013
pappilo: There was no auction on 3 April so I guess the 2 week cycle has changed. The next 3 auctions should be on 10, 24 April, 8 May.

They may have altered the cycle to beat quite a few public holidays which auction days would have fallen on in the previous auction Calendar. 1 May (May Day), 29 May (Democracy Day), June 12 (Democracy Day Lagos only)

Getting information in Nigeria is almost impossible
I fully agree with you. The FG has annouced that there will be an auction on April 10th.

mymadam: Simply leave a standing instruction with your bank to cover any bid date. Do this through your ACCOUNT OFFICER at the bank. If you don't have one yet, request for one immediately. He/she will be your contact who will arrange for your TBs bid anytime there's one. However, make sure you ALWAYS have enough funds in your account for the transaction.
Ok, Thanks. I will try your suggestion.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 7:57am On Mar 30, 2013
vexing: You can apply thru your bank and they will help you to buy at the next aution if ur bid is successful. You may not neccessarily hav to know the next bidding date.
Fbn always ask me to submit my application form and funds, the Tuesday before the auction. So you see, I need to have an idea of the auction date.

spriteB: Thanks so much for the responses..

So, when's the next bid date and what's the current interest rates? I'm currently getting 8.75% on fixed deposit @ Stanbic IBTC; going by the rate at which the Tbill is dropping, do you guys think it's worth switching over? smiley
The next bid date is march 7th.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 3:35pm On Feb 21, 2013
AT THE CURRENT RATE OF 9.2% FOR 90 DAYS, THE ACTUAL YIELD IS 10.1%. A FIXED DEPOSIT OF 11% WITH A 10% WITHHOLDING TAX GIVES YOU A YIELD OF 9.9%. SO YOU ARE VERY CORRECT. BUT ANY FURTHER DROP WILL REVERSE THE SITUATION AND MAKE FIXED DEPOSIT MORE REWARDING.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 3:14pm On Feb 21, 2013
i WENT TO FIRST BANK TO PAY FOR NTB BUT THE BANK STAFF ADVISED ME TO GO FOR FIXED DEPOSIT AT 11% WHICH I DID. THANK GOD I DID BECAUSE NTB RATES ARE NOW DISAPPOINTING.

Hi guys,
I have some questions.
1) When you buy T-Bills are you agiven acertificate or something to prove that you bought the T-Bills? I bought through First bank even though my account was credited,I was given nothing. I feel I should have something to hold as proof.
2) When you buy T-Bills and specify that the capital should be rolled over every 91 days, how do you stop this roll over and get your money out, for whatever reason when it matures.
Thankxs in advance.

I have done 200km/hour with a Benz E- 230 (1984 regular),on Benin Auchi road in 2001,1 wanted to see if the car can get to the maximum speed, and it did. I had to get four brand new tyres before attempting this stunt. It was my first and most rugged car.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Long Did It Take U To Get A Job After Graduation by Desanta(m): 1:29pm On May 09, 2012
I got my present job 6 months after NYSC. The pay was less than what I was earning at the place I was working before but I preferred this because it was more secure and there was room to improve, acquire more qualifications, and climb to the peak eventually with a lot of time for my self. So first decide what you want most out of life, money or self fulfillment, then pray, grab any available job (legal), then search for that dream job while you use every opportunity at you present job to improve yourself. Work does not kill it only makes you stronger and any knowledge or skill you acquire is your property for life. All the best.

abhosts: If you are not an Internet Savvy person, here is a tip for you:

Open both a Savings Account and a Current Account with the same Bank.

Leave most of your Cash in your Current Account with no Internet Banking or ATM Facility.

Activate Internet Banking on Your Savings and only fund it with Cash just enough for your Online Transactions.

God Bless
Thanks a lot for the advice. i am thinking of doing this 'cos i already have both types of account with first bank, but i want to use the saving account for the internet banking.
