tunnytox: Can these 'brave' Ibos now face their master across the Niger (Hausa/Fulani ) for once and stop whining!
You called yourself brave yet no ibo has really ever ask your master to apologise to you for the pogrom in the north, all you do is whinge and pick on Yorubas because of our peace loving nature.
So much for Igbo 'bravery' sior!
You lot need to stop harping on this peace loving nature thing abeg.

The boy is good, apa lo n pe be. Lets stop being so nice and deal ruthlessly with them once and for all!

Aderostock: I dont know the reasons all these Igbos are obssessed with anything yoruba? Cant they let us be? I wish ACN win in tribunal over kwara guber, then they will know how integrated we are.
They can't let us be because we are their lifeline. Their destinies are tied to Yorubaland. A successful ibo man today is shackled by Lagos. If Fashola sneezes, they must catch cold because all their investments are locked down in our region. Their sustenance is heavily dependant on us as should they want to ship goods in, they would need our port and their dreams of leaving the shores of Nigeria can only be facilitated in Lagos. We hold the key, we call the shots on wether or not they succeed hence their keen interest in our politics. One policy is all it takes and they are returned to obscurity.

Ufeolorun: Apart from working on Tinubu's image problem, the acn needs to assure none Yorubas, especially in the SW of safetygrin because paranoia is the only plausible reason for this unexpected obsessive preoccupation
Some people are seriously afraid of a Yoruba hegemony, even in Yorubaland shocked ;this is exactly what acn is promoting. grin cheesy
They are seriously worried about the kind of power the Yorubas would wield when they all come together in this regional cooperation vision. They know that alignment of the Yorubas can only spell doom for them and bring their day of reckoning much closer. They see that it is inevitable. We might not all be under one party but the regionalisation of the west would happen and I see it coming sooner rather than later.

Kwara is not far behind. I just hope and pray that Tinubu and Mimiko can find a common ground and put their egos aside to work together but we know that two captains cannot charter the course of a ship and that is where it becomes dicey.

My prayer is that PDP and the Sarakis are chequered in Kwara state but that might be a tall dream for now. In the meantime, let the ACN governors prove to the rest of the country that they are the best by turning our region around to be the envy of others. Soon, all these ajokutamamumis would require a visa to enter Yorubaland.

SOH KAH TOA: Clap for your self, I omitted Ekiti in my calculation but notwithstanding you guys have a way of wanting to claim affiliation with Edo in the name of one ancestral bullshit.. Exactly one point I was trying to make
Whether or not we claim Edo as our ancestral cousins is neither here nor there. The most important question is: which party is in control of Edo state? Try not to get a heart attack when the realisation dawns on you that it is ACN and in actual fact, the ACN has six solid states in its grasp.
PoliticsRe: Why Has The Tide Turned Against The ACN? by Desola(f): 11:05pm On Oct 24, 2012
Andre Uweh: The people of Ondo state are not interested in political parties but individuals. The chose Mimiko again not because of his LABOUR PARTY, but as an individual that towers over other contestants.
I wish when the presidential election comes up in 2015, it will be decided not on politcal platforms but brilliance of individuals.
congratulate yourself Ngodigha, you just tried to make sense just then - hope you didn't hurt a cell whilst trying to do that.

SOH KAH TOA: Never you make the mistake of counting Edo as a western state, because I am still in limbo on how your west is now 6 states unless you are counting Kwara.
A foolish man has no hiding place. He will always open his gob to take away any doubt of his foolishness. Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti are five states that are currently under the administration of ACN with the exception of Ondo. How then was Edo even mentioned or annexed to the states in ACN's steering?

You are no bright at all!!

russellino: I'm quite sure you live abroad because your views seem to follow a trend I've noticed in many nigerian ppl who live abroad. Extremist ethnic allegiances, a clear disconnect from the pulse of the average nigerian in the street in analysing mundane everyday events and including but not limited to a yearning to return to an utopian country populated only by ppl whose names sound like yours and are from your tribe.

I've got friends who live abroad that charter all sorts of 50 naira african looking bangles and trinkets when they visit naija just to cling to ther identity. Its not a bad thiing mind you but in some ppl it manifests negatvely as I have been noticing on this and a number of forums
You are judging me based on observation; a trend as you have adduced but you were quick to conclude that I am a diasporan even though you have no cogent proof? Until you can prove beyond reasonable doubt, then your assertion remains a fallacy.

As per your thesis on what constitutes a diasporan, I couldn't help but chuckle because I see a trait that I see in most ibo people which is that they know virtually nothing but open their mouths without engaging their brains and spew absolute crap! Am I right in my observation of the ibos?

I thank God everyday for Americans ignorance on Africa. If the educated ones that realize Africa is a continent decided to get more detailed, that's when i inform them I'm Nigerian. I'm not ashamed of being Igbo, African or black but i am definitely ashamed of Nigeria.

SOH KAH TOA: This is another apologist who only dislikes Gbawe, another apologist for reasons known by both.. You can build castles in the air to eternity the truth remains that ACN may be worse than PDP is their excesses is not curtailed and they don't command the loyalty of all the Yorubas except tribal apologists
I agree with the emboldened. My point however is for you, the outsiders, not to mistake the decision of the Ondo people as a rejection of the ACN. The Ondo people merely found a formulae that works for them and decided to stick with it. Why fix it if it isn't broken. Nevertheless, a close watch must be kept on Mimiko this second term as I see a potential of becoming autocratic and perhaps even more power drunk than Tinubu (to my Yoruba kiths and kins of course).

Storyland, Fash! My question is when are you gonna introduce a ban on non road worthy automobile spare parts that the okoro keeps bringing in the my dear Lagos thereby not only defacing my state but killing its citizens? That is the kind of changes I want to see alongside your laudable skill acquisition programs. Furthermore, when is your government going to tackle the issue of piracy and copyright so that these okoros would stop swindling unsuspecting consumers out of their hard earned cash and not forgetting to demolish all those road side chemists that sell fake drugs et al?

When are you gonna kick Akabueze out of your cabinet? You are letting me down, pal!

naptu2: Fashola commissions the sixteenth skills acquisition center; condemns FG import policy.

The number of skills acquisition centers in Lagos is now 16 as the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) has commissioned the latest addition to the centers located in the Mushin area of the state.

Speaking at the commissioning, the governor said that the state has equipped a total of 13,422 residents of the state with poverty alleviating skills in a period of four years.

A breakdown of the figure shows that 9,566, representing 71.3 per cent were women while the remaining 3,856, representing 28.7 percent were men. The governor pointed out that more youths, between the ages of 20 and 30 years, have been the greatest beneficiary, constituting about 11,509 or 85.7 per cent of the total graduates produced from the centre.

“These are the ordinary people I speak of to whom government owes the greatest responsibility and in whose eyes our government remains a model of what a caring government should be,” he said.

Governor Fashola added that the curriculum covers a wide range of courses including barbing, fashion design/dress-making, hairdressing/ cosmetology, photography, shoe/bag making, tile laying and interlocking, screen printing/Lithography technology, wielding, refrigeration and air-conditioning installation and maintenance and computer studies among others.

While berating the federal government for its import policy, the governor said allowing the importation of household items would destroy the country’s economy.

He said: "I am worried by the recent announcement of the Federal Government to allow importation of furniture, toothpick, textile and vehicles that are 15 years old.

"This policy decision is not the answer to the problem of smuggling. The answer lies in a methodical and multi-dimensional response. It includes strengthening of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) through technology such as scanners, improving local productive capacity and reducing dependence on importation."

The governor said importation has killed the local economy and led to a high rate of unemployment, advising that smuggling could be tamed by well structured security mechanisms.

The governor urged the Federal Government to reverse its policy on importation and concentrate on stimulating the growth of local industries through constant electricity supply.

He said: "Our freight forwarders, customs and ports will become busier from a positive reversal of fortunes that is driven by an export oriented economy, rather than an import driven economy."

The governor informed that the costumes used at last year’s Lagos carnival were made locally, saying the state has embraced a people oriented policy of patronizing local manufacturers.

Awon oloshi! Ariwo igo lo ma pa alaicewater yin. Yorubas are not crying, wailing or complaining about the ACN but this moraeffing okoros who just want the downfall of the Yoruba nation by all means would always cry more than the bereaved. Kilode?

How has ACN been rejected? That Ondo remains in the hands of the incumbent government now equates to a gallant loss to the ACN? Una be toys? Una brains dey work at all? Yes, ACN has its faults and perhaps have been falling in and out of slumber but to compare them to the evil PDP party is just madness!

Tinubu, as bad as he may be perceived, is a necessary evil at this time in the history of Nigerian politics. All i'm concerned about is seeing stellar performance from the ACN governors to seal a final nail in the coffin of the evil PDP and for Labour to surpass its achievements in Ondo.

Whichever way you look at it, the Yorubas would no longer be part of your stupid Nigerian politics, we would decide the best leaders for ourselves and be rest assured that PDP's days in the west are over for good! If you like, dance over your moonlight fire, the recent development in Ondo just proves to the whole world that the Yorubas are a cut above all other rubbish ethnic groups in Nigeria and we should never have been lumped with you di.ckheads in the first place.

Anyone can become a member of National assembly, President, Governor etc regardless of tribal affiliations/ state of origin. Sound idealism from a sound senate president, i pray the distinguish senators to adhere to this proposal and adopt it in the upcoming constitutional ammendment, come 2013.
But we are not one and united. We are but a mere geographical expression. What do I have in common with an ibo man to make me want to be one with him? Nada! That's what!

aribisala0: People misuse the wordss "tribalism" and "tribalist" out of ignorance or poor education. We are Igbo,Yoruba,Tiv,Efik Ogoni Ijaw etc peoples ; nations in a NATION STATE that is who and what we are
Somehow there is this idea that we should give that all up to become "Nigerians" with English as our language and no consciousness or a colonial consciousness. Nigeria CANNOT become a nation in the way that Japan or Koreans are and we should not accept this project that seeks to delete our identity. We are a nation in the sense of a confederation of NATIONS not TRIBES. No one refers to Irish,Belgians,Ducth,Boers,Bosnians,Greeks or Armenians as tribes so why are Igbos a tribe.
We need to wake up revive our languages and culture and be proub of them. We can coexist in much the same way as the EU nations do but it is important to preserve the culture, language and identity of Autochthons in their ancestral homelands rather than seek to create meaningless and superficial new identities

David Marks proposal is stupid ; It is proposing that in maybe 100 years there will be no Ijaw,Edo or other Minorities indeed even bigger groups may not survive. If we are going down that road the destination must be clear before we start.
That idea can only make sense in a culturally and linguistically homogenous nation. We are not and certainly do not aspire to LOSE our language/culture. The final phase of remote colonialism
BRILLIANT RETORT!!! SUPPORTED A ZILLION TIMES!! THANK YOU!!!

How does buying land to rear cattles a modest landmark achievements in the face of massively poor infrastructural development in a state where majority are still lurking with unemployment and education above the reach of the common man as exemplified in all ACN controlled states. I won't be your likes who play down others achievements or refuse to comment on any thread hinting the strong points of people of other political divide because I quite agree this a right move by Rauf but you people are blowing it off the roof and that's where the joy may be cut short because this thread was created to promote which I got no objection. Maybe, but it is stronger in the Biafran, hence you seeing all cast and crew's names of a supposed "Nigerian movie" being okoro names. Not only have they damaged the Nigerian image with drug peddling across the globe, they have also hijacked a once budding film industry and now tarnished our collective image globally. The ibo man doesn't do anything in half measures. If he would damage, he would go for it totally. Dem no dey carry last most especially in crime and anything substandard.

Nollywood is the mirror image of the ibo man. It is not the true depiction of Nigerians but of Biafrans. Unfortunately, other Nigerians can't explain that to non-Nigerians as the power of the media is so strong and the okoro man has control of that.
