9ja_I_hail: Did anyone noticed that Gowon is sounding like a confused and worried xmas hegoat? i know what troubles his mind right now as the matter surfaced in 21 century. He must be saying right now if this people take this case to Hague what do i do, now awo and co is death only me will face the music lol hehehe
In all seriousness though, why haven't you ibos taken your case to the Hague if you believe so strongly that you were wronged? Is it for lack of concrete evidence or that you know truly that your enemies did what was to be expected in a war?

I don't need this nonsense this forum has been reduced to where some just go around saying what they wan't carelessly and having the 'freedom of the manor' and even encouragement to attack and insult others from thread to thread. ...and what the 'f' are you lot gonna do about the so-called revelation? Isn't it a shame that you lot have waited this long to ever address this issue and even more pathetic that you wait for your crippled uncle who clearly has lot his marbles and not to mention him being the greatest coward still existing. It is astounding how your ilk go around calling the ethnic group that brought your silly existence to its knees 'coward' when your stupid crippled uncle couldn't even muffle a word in the life and time of Awo the great. You lot are what we called 'eran iya' in Yoruba land because no matter how much you are beaten, you would always come back for more. You are all goats and should not described as humans but wild, unyielding animals. That is what you all are.

I keep saying to Yorubas to stop this 'omoluabi' bullshit and start inventing clever policies to oust you all out. I am glad that Fashola is gradually coming to that realisation. I think you are at the end of your tethers now. Not only will you lot be shish kebabed in the North but your day of reckoning is drawing closer in the west and that is a day I shall relish in.

CyberG: Come see ibos celebrating the very THING Chief Awolowo told the whole world and fought for before independence! The backstabber and saboteur ibo man Zik went behind Awolowo to make alliance with Ahmadu Bello calculating that by cheating Chief Awolowo, the iboz will be the beneficiaries after independence. The iboz new the Hausas were less educated and less interested in all these ambitious things they talked about: running railways systems, airport, ports, government parastatals, education, etc and they took advantage until the tides turned and then, they pretentiously went to kill the leaders of the Hausas. They story continues but I will do that on another thread.

The only reason ibos are celebrating here is because Atiku, clearly being disingenuous here, is massaging the empty ibo ego. And see, you folks are quoting him, bolding the statements like it is some new revelation. Meanwhile, you can never smell the position Atiku knows he will use you to obtain for himself and foster the same structure that encourages and preserves corruption in Nigeria. iboz never learn!

hugafella: I have read all you guys have said, and it seems like Afghanistan in here. But lets be objective. First of all, the justification for the war is unquestionable. A pogrom of any kind must be resisted.Secondly, I would be better prepared in a war if you spelled it out right from the outset that you were my enemy. But when you suddenly become a turncoat and betray me right in the middle of things, it becomes rather painful. Awo, whether we like to hear it or not did not act like a fine gentleman. He remained on the fence and surprisingly aligned with our enemies to harm us. 2 million children starved to death, those kids were the future generation of engineers, lawyers, soldiers, or professors. They were not fighters. The Ojukwu I know would never have done that to the Yorubas. But the good news is that we have moved on. Afterall, I dare anyone to tell me any tribe that has more faith in the Nigeria project than the ibo man. This is self evident in his willingness to invest in and develop all nooks and crannies of the land. The questions we should be asking is this: who are the true patriots? Is it those who invest in all parts of Nigeria? Or those who would prefer to destroy Nigeria if they cannot rule? Put in another way, we can now see how far Awo's actions have brought us. Are we now more united in Nigeria?is Nigeria moving forward? Have the hausa not squandered our collective resources? Even though they contribute little? But some people seem to be comfortable in the face of injustice, while others confront it head on. The latter group should never be criticized for doing so. Because, it is because of such critics that Nigeria is where it is today. My final point- never be afraid of your past. No matter how ugly, They inform your future decisions. If you don't know where you are coming from, you can't know where you are going.
My foe, do not mistake greed, selfishness, self-centredness and necessity for patriotism. That the ibos are investing in other regions does not reveal their "patriotism" or belief in the Nigerian project. Their moving forth into other regions is borne out of the need to survive. They know that no right thinking Nigerian would come to their region and after their fruitless attempt at secession, the government had lost interest in planting anything in their land for lack of trust and their commitment to the Nigerian project. Ibos are traders and in order to succeed, they have to go to their markets and their markets are not in the east but in the west and the north. Ibos loathe Nigeria but loves its money and that is what you are mistaking for patriotism. An ibo man would do all within and without his means to earn money and that is why he is going about setting up in other regions to make the money by all mean; not because of some stupid belief in one Nigeria! To the iboman, it is all about the benjamins, baby!

Yeeparipa omodeyi balu je! O ti fi okoro tayin o.

Opolo ti poju, kilode!

Dende1, how are you gonna counter these points intelligently, this man is showing you up big time o. Let me get some orange juice and balance proper because this pro corruption guy just dey mesmerise me. Ogaju!

Prof Corruption: Let's start with your foolishness first.

1. Was the fiat of Ironsi to proclaim Nigeria a unitary state constitutional? Why did Gowon and co have to plan a coup? When the going was good for Igbo, it was constitutional but when it turned sour, it wasn't. Why do you select issues that favor you to discuss and completely ignore preceding events?

2.Your second point only reinforces why you are not bright. Your point support completely the assertion of Rossikk that why declare a war you were not prepared for? In the 60s, each region had consulates in many friendly nation. Read about Nigeria. To expose your intellectual laziness, why you admitted your region could not make such investment, why exactly did you need the support of France for? How did a region manage to get such support? If they had the support of France, why not other nations as Rossikk has opined?

3.May be you were there planning the war with them. Why writing on what you know little about? Gowon did not declare an outright war. He started with police action which was a child splay compared to real military action. In any case, are you not alluding to Ojukwu's foolishness. Why declare a war if you can't secure food for your region? Did he expect food to fall from sky during the war? Was he expecting his enemies to feed his army?

4. Your point 4 is too vague. Soldiers are trained to kill. They killed their targets during the war. If a civilian behaved like military target, you applied your bullet. Simple. If an earthworm walks like snake, it has to be killed like snake. Simple

5. So what did they bank on? They banked on nothing and got nothing. You are dishonest if not it doesn't take much to know Ojukwu declared Biafra at the point the region was not prepared for war. That's the same thing Awolowo did not do and all you folks called Yoruba cowards. There is no point leading your nation on a suicide spree.

@OP,

Thank you for being objective and using your logic. These issues are glaring for honest and sincere minds to grasp. It's not rocket science. Will Israel embark on a war where an arab nation is expected to supply food? Ojukwu was foolish for declaring a war that was lost from the word go. Simple as abc.

Prof Corruption: When your clueless fathers were planning the war, were they planning to lose so they would come back for their savings? Efulefu
If you have prove that something belongs to you, you get it back. Simple as abc, it's not hard to get.

The leader of the rebellion Ojukwu got his savings back. His wives and children are fighting over his house in Ikoyi, Lagos as I type. So in addition to twenty pounds, some of you got your belongings back. What even happen to those who had nothing but nevertheless given twenty pounds? Ojukwu came back and collected pensions from the same military he fought against. He dined with the same generals shooting his people during the war. He even endorsed one of them for presidency in his later lonely years.

Shameless liars!

Andre Uweh: Did Prof Achebe just publish a book about Biafran war?. The answer is no.
What the Prof has done was to publish his personal account during the war. The prof will not be interested in writing a book of 10,000 pages and has just chosen to write about his personal encounters during the impasse. The prof was not in the middle belt during the war so he can not manufacture stories that did not personally involve him.
Has the prof lied?. No. As you said, the stories about the war is what you already know. So having known that Awo gave £20 to Ndigbo who had money in the bank regardless of how much they had in those custodies.
The prof has said the truth which all Nigerians already are aware of it.
Awo is just expoposed to the world. As the world will now search to know about him, they will also know that Awo was a candidate for war crimes at the Hague but escaped the hangman.
The truth is always bitterbut it must be told.

oro kabiti, oro kanka!

Prof Corruption: Obasanjo became the president but why are you ignoring the events that made that happened? Did we shoot anybody to force Nigerians to concede the presidency to South West? Don't you see the power of wisdom that the two presidential candidates in 1998 presidential elections were from the West?
If not for OBJ scheming that put GEJ as a support on a sick president, would there be a SS presidency today? Do you think everything is all about empty boast, chest beating? It's strategy, it's policy, it's deep thinking.

When you guys were made Senate president, what happened? You kept back stabbing each other until it went around. The position has been in North central for almost eight years with unbelievable stability in the senate. Nigerians know you don't worth it. We had the presidency and we sent away the looters in our midst and in the process recreate another power base. When are you going to do that for your miserable region?

Even if you want to launch Igbo presidency project today, there is no serious platform for it. There are no gains for you guys. Your leaders lack strategic thinking! How are you benefiting from the mere fact that Igbo is deputy speaker or Finance Minister if no meaningful beneficial policy that can uplift your region is being implemented? We have gone beyond that stage of we want a speaker of Yoruba extraction.

Learn this little secret: if you don't control presidency in Nigeria, it's as good as nothing. GEj can sack all your over hyped Igbo today in his cabinet and heavens will not fall. I don't expect you to think deeply since you have been brainwashed already. We have built the platform that can be used to negotiate a good policy for our region. It's only a few strategic ones among you that would see that. Efulefu!
