Onlytruth: Okay, here is my take.

Ndigbo si na ebe nwata n'ebe akwa na atu aka, nne ya anoghi ya, nna ya no ya! I will not translate this proverb because this is not a time to give any room for outsiders to infilterate and dictate our discourse. Onye obula were ire ya guo eze ya onu.

Ihe gbasara Eze Nwanyi Nairaland a di ka o ga enye anyi nnukwu nsogbo ma oburu na anyi akpachapughi anya. When I was elected Eze last year, I offered the position to someone I held in high esteem then. Let me say that it did not work for me (or us), but it never became an issue here. It never burdened us even for one day. Ndigbo didn't even know what happened, and I continued my work smoothly.
When the idea of an elected Eze Nwanyi came up, I had my apprehensions, but I was not in any position (one of my failures) to object to it. With hindsight now, I should have strongly objected to it then, because of the political implications to the Eze's position. It means that we have TWO not ONE authority in the leadership of Ndigbo, because the position was elected not appointed (as I did). I don't even want to go into the character or proclivities of the person eventually chosen because we are republicans, but our republican nature also advises that we should have a process of removal from office if and when necessary. I can still recall that there was an attempt to remove me from office sometime this year. It failed because majority of Ndigbo here supported me.
So, it is trite that Umu Igbo should not have their hands tied and be forced to live with someone they do not accept.

My position may not be accepted by all, but I can say that I speak for the majority when I say that Ogugua88 should be allowed to resume office first, BUT there should be a process in place for her removal from office should she stray from her EXPECTED role as Eze Nwanyi Ndigbo here. I am currently working with the incoming Eze and my council members for us to design a code of conduct for the Eze and Eze Nwanyi (which I truly hope won't continue in the future), the elections process, and issues of succession.

For now, I appeal to all Umuigbo to please stand down and let this issue die a natural death for now. Please wait, because we shall have a proper process of removal by the start of next tenure. It is one of the things I hope to bequeath to future generations of Igbo Nairalanders.

Thanks and God bless you for heeding my call to stop posting on this thread.

advocate666: My Igbo brethren and Sistren. Agwo no n'akirika.

A shameful thing is about to happen to Igbo reputation on Nairaland and we cannot in good conscience allow that to happen.

Ogugua was "selected" to represent igbo people on Nairaland but I think she misunderstood her mission and thinks she is representing one nigeria. She opens thread about making Nigeria better.(https://www.nairaland.com/1087278/what-doing-improve-nigeria). Her posts show her worrying about Nigeria. Not Igboland.

The utopia of one nigeria has destroyed many igbo leaders and is the main source of our problems in igboland. We cannot keep selecting one nigeria hawks.

We cannot with pride pay homage to and call Ezenwanyi Ndigbo, a person who makes a comment like this:

We need a new strong igbo leader that will represent our views, that is proud of us, that thinks like us, that doesn't speak about us like the ofemmanus do. We need someone we can be proud of. Someone we can stand with. Someone that is has the full igbo prosperity at heart. We need someone that respects ndigbo and everything igbo.

Ogugua88 sadly lacks these qualities. We need change. We have people with those qualities and more.

Please start a bye-election soonest.

demmie1: I support d creation of ijebu state and I'm fully behind regional integration with d obas as permanent members for the sake of stability.
it doesn't have to be ACN alone that controls the west, whichever party that does, minus PDP and other anti SW parties, should be fully in support of regional integration be it economic or other-nomic.
very well then! I think there should be a referendum to allow all Ijebu and remo people to decide this. It shouldn't be up to the Obas or the representatives as that call would be out of their mandate.

A referendum must take place and these bloody legislators should just not make that decision for the people!

Katsumoto: Ndu_Chucks

Singling out one party for castigation due to 'undemocratic' selection of candidates is highly disingenuous considering all Nigerian parties are guilty of this offense. How does one explain the process which produced GEJ as the 'democratic' candidate of the Pirates Deceiving Peasants (PDP) party? How did Uduaghan emerge as governor in Delta or David Mark as Senate president? There are so many examples to give which belie the 'democratic' selection of candidates by other parties.

No one in their right minds will argue that the process employed by ACN was the best, however, the intention was to replace PDP thugs in the South West. That objective was achieved as the people chose 'imposed' candidates over 'democratic' candidates of the Umbrella party. Now it is up to the ACN to convince its constituents that it has good intentions. If the ACN persists with 'undemocratic' selections and delivers on most fronts, the people may not care. If it doesn't, it will likely meet the same fate dished to the pirates.
You have a way of expressing my thoughts clearly!

ikeyman00: @@@@

imposition of a person is criminal and should never be allowed to carry on as it might come back to undermine the little progress made

Therefore people should never talk about having toooooooooooo much power at the federal level when they embraces gangsta politics

so u get to know the reason Mimiko never lose focus

whenever some rules are created u never know what loop holes that come with it! WARNING SHOT!

so if we have to do things right then it should be all the way to maximize productivity

seeing from a clear lens
opp as a stakeholder in our Lagos haha lol
In what part of the constitution or inec rules/guidelines does it say imposition is a criminal offence?

Anyway, how does it become an imposition if the party members allows it?

I am not an ACN member but I don't want us to twist laws when making allegations. I personally do not like Tinubu's style of leadership but I am sympathetic toward ACN.

ndu_chucks: dayokano, stop trying to defend the indefensible. Imposed candidates couples with rigging is no democracy.
In that case, Goofluck as a president is not democratic, Obasanjo, Yaradua and Shagari were never democratically elected seeing that none of these elections were ever 'free and fair' devoid of rigging. As a matter of fact, Nigeria's existence is undemocratic because Awolowo never accepted its creation but the creation was imposed by Azikwe!!

naijababe: You are very confused, weren't you just talking about the so called elites a post ago? Suddenly the wishes of some eejits with nothing better to do now translates to the wishes of the entire Ijebu people? I reiterate, oponu afofun gbemu ni e se!!!
oponu ayirada gbaa ni! Desperation ti ba aye e je!

Ijebu state is not about emancipation for the Ijebu people but the greed for power and control. The need to impose on others, the need to govern! Ogun state is fine as it is and this supposed marginalisation of the Ijebu people is news to me. It is a systematic weakening of the unity that is currently within the Yoruba people. Further de-fragmentation would most certainly not help our cause, it would make us speak different tunes. The elites need to be reigned in. The Obas are not democratically elected so they should not be made to speak for us! They can advise and guide us but definitely not impose on us! A Yoruba is a Yoruba be it Awori or Ijebu! We should not allow this further separation! A ni lati se ara wa losu su owo!

ndu_chucks: I hope you know that Aboki means friend - at least we are making some progress. Who are the "we" that do not want Ijebu state? A vast majority of Ijebus want that state, but I understand your stance because you people in ACN do not believe in the voice of the people and your elite selects your leaders instead of electing them.

Where did I voice any opposition for regional economic cooperation or integration. Abi you are a blind bat who can't read ni? Why do you people keep removing the word "economic" from the phrase when you refer to it? Desola, I am on my last nerve with you and will give you the Gbawe treatment if you continue to oppose me. mo ti warn e niyen!

It appears as if eran iya ni awon babes yi

@Gbawe, I will respond to your post soon but you may not be very happy with your Oga when i'm done.
clearly, you are without your cognitive faculties otherwise, you would not have accused me of removing the term 'economic' from my responses. I would suggest you learn to read and put much more effort into your comprehension skills if at all existent. You talk for the sake of it and most times you are incoherent in your views and totally brash and thoughtless in your approach. I really cannot fathom your fear in the proposed alliance and the departure from a unitary system which clearly has done the nation more harm than good. To you, Nigeria must be kept together by all mean whether detrimental to the regions or not. Some of us actually see beyond the oil from the Niger Delta and are sick to the stomach to the begging bowl system we currently run. It is not only going to be insufficient in the long run, it is also deprivation of human rights and promotes perpetual degradation of the Niger Deltans. Some of us know that the idea of regional co-operation worked before the advent of Nigeria - it is a tried and tested formula and for the future of our coming generation, we have to become self sufficient and sustain our own economy. Nigeria is an idea, a concept albeit one that is failing and another avenue has to be explored, it means we have to return to our roots and return to the original plan. Why that is so difficult for you to grasp, fails me. I wouldn't want to put it down to you being 'aboki' or 'mola' as Sanusi has proved that there can be indeed intelligent ones amongst you. I would put yours down to imbecility and dependency. Keeping with the status quo ensures your lifeline as being Hausa isn't worth very much except it is Nigerian and sucking oil from the Niger Deltans.

As per your comment on the one whom I shall not mention, I can only say well done for displaying your retardedness as it is clear that you do not have an understanding of whom it is you'r dealing with. I do not back out of a battle so from now on, chose your words wisely as you might just be biting more than you can shew. The archive is there for you to peruse in case you have forgotten what it means to take on Desola.

A word, they say is enough for the wise but you are not wise so you will fall for the bait. 'Aja to ma sonu ni e, o de ni gbo fere ode'.
