PoliticsRe: Has Fashola's Stock Fallen In The Past Few Days? by Desola(f): 11:09pm On Jul 13, 2011
londoner:
Well, I heard the Lagos state government/Fashola warned of the coming rains a few weeks before hand, and advised people to move. was this enough?

The question is with this expectation of very heavy rainfall, what was DONE to remove the blockages already on ground?

The people of Lagos have to take some blame, but the governor has to take his share for lack of preparation, because he does have the capability to get the man power together to clear the blockages before the rains came, with the knowledge that they were coming.

Lagosians, after the warning did you see any measures taken against the flooding?

IMO, Fashola is still a good governor and because he is genuine, he and his administration will probably make sure that the next heavy rains do not have a chance to cause such havoc.

He is just human afterall, but Bush took his share of criticism after the hurricane Katrina fiasco and it centred around his lack of preparation, not that he somehow controls weather, lol
I see the points you are making and agree with a bulk of them but this occurrence is an unprecedented one in Lagos (at least not at this magnitude). Although Fashola may have been afore warned, he certainly could not have envisaged a disaster on this scale.

Furthermore, let's assume that he was privy to the impending devastation, the question we should be asking is: did he have enough time to prepare? And who is to say that he did not take preventative measures or at least clear some of the drainages? The time span from learning of the impending disaster and the occurrence itself could not have been sufficient for him to make tangible changes.

Of course, he should not be absolved of all blames but we must also respect that this is a man who does not shy from responsibilities whom so far in the history of the state, appears to be the only governor who has given any kind of warning and shown compassion. Yes, I suppose you are saying that this is not sufficient, but it is a start. He has witnessed his first major trial and I believe with every fiber of my being that rise to the occasion he shall and without any doubts, he will be making absolute sure that such embarrassment to his government would not be a repeat occurrence.

Sorry sweetie   . .your moniker sounds so guyish, your gender not being defined. . Your intelligent flow of thoughts, and confidence  pass you off as a male at first thought . . . I commend your objectivity in every post i have read    . . .  keep it up
How very sexist and condescending. As if to say that intelligence and confidence are virtues mostly displayed in men.

This is not a compliment at all.

Desola, dunno if you've read my other writings on this forum, but I'm pretty pro-Fashola. Don't get the wrong idea and think I'm an enemy of his or blaming him.

But sometimes you get the blame in life for stuff you aren't really responsible for.
I am not saying you are an enemy of progress but it riles me to high heavens when I see people who should presumably know better, come out to open flood gates to attack a man who is arguably the best thing Nigeria has going for it in the face of obvious adversity.

I seldom post on "Fashola's" thread because I don't subscribe to unnecessary praise singing. I see him being praised and attacked mostly by non indegenes of Lagos who claim to have the right to do so because they pay their fantasy tax.

So you admit to Fashola being blamed for something he's not necessarily responsible for, yet you join hands to open a thread to test his popularity? What a load of contradiction! W

Seanet1000:
That's my Desola.
You know what, it's becoming irritating now.

Lagos is almost an island itself. It is surrounded by water and with terrible drainage and over population, it's no surprise that it's facing what it is now. Even a country such as England faces flood like this at times.

Flood is bound to occur in a state such as Lagos but managing it is what is paramount. Fashola, so far has been the only governor who has reacted to most issues thus far in the history of Lagos but still some nincompoop would still come around to slate him as if he should have the role of a miracle worker in his job specification.

This disaster has now given Fashola the clout to go ahead and demolish all obstructing structures and lay underground drainages around Lagos. It would only boost his profile as the "action governor". Rather than wait patiently to see how things pan out, they are coming out talking about popularity contest. Sheesh!

ekt_bear:
Just curious, how much of a hit do you think he has taken from these unfortunate events? And I mean your own personal rating, not what your guess about other people's ratings now looks like.

Perhaps I should add a poll too.
. . .and what has natural disaster got to do with his popularity? Did he cause this? Are you blaming him for not demolishing the houses that obstructed the drainages long before now? Are you saying he should have banned pure water from being sold or have taken all Lagosians to a re-orientation camp?

What exactly are you lot complaining about?

This is getting beyond ridiculous now.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Igbos Flee Borno by Desola(f): 2:32am On Jul 13, 2011
Uh, the black gold that comes from the Igbo soil (and those who are related) makes Nigeria relevant.

Go and ask the Chinese professors learning Igbo, or the other Africans listening to Igbo gospel music. Me, I don't know.
For every one chinese professor learning ibo, there are 20 caucasian professors holding lectrues and seminars in it not to mention students learning it. Yoruba is so important that it has its own department in some universities.

Omo go siddon abeg! We dey tok oyinbo you dey tok of an evolved ibo man - a chinese? Omo, I laugh in cantonese!

ROTFLMAO!!
Those are men. If they can lie about their age,t hey can lie about their sex
Lol,

I have never seen facial hair on women as much as I have done on ibo women. Haba! They are even hard to distinguish from their men with their yam tuber legs. grin
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Igbos Flee Borno by Desola(f): 2:14am On Jul 13, 2011
Actually if you take a look at Super Falcons, you would see that it is about 80% Igbo. That tells you all you need to know about Igbo women.
Take a look at Super Eagles, you would see Igbo men there.
We don't make noise, we act.
Hmm. . .yet you accuse Yoruba women of looking manly.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Igbos Flee Borno by Desola(f): 2:08am On Jul 13, 2011
Personally I think that these Yoruba "women" are actually Yoruba men hiding as usual. Heck who can even tell the difference between a Yoruba man and a woman? LOL!
Probably not, because our Yoruba women are three times more of a man than you would ever be!
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Igbos Flee Borno by Desola(f): 2:06am On Jul 13, 2011
Desola,

You're doing great as you go jare. I dey enjoy.

You hit a hard point. . . .Igbo is not a race. Even the US Census said "fcuxxx no!".
Awon bawo? These ones are shrimps, men! Do you see how they launch into their double ids anytime I take on them? That is when a meaningful debate degenerates into name calling and "ashawo" this and that when they have nothing more to throw at me. I know their "modus-operandi", so it's easy to deal with them. I was surprised that ezeuche didn't log into one of his numerous alter ego's id: Ngodigha or whatever its called. When he starts to get flustered, like magic, ngodigha would appear.

I would always hold my own alongside these guys, they are chicken eaglets, I deal with the super eagles!

Omo Yoruba ni mi o - SWAGGER!!! grin

Hahaha, you have a race? More like a clan, no, a tribe! Lol,
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Igbos Flee Borno by Desola(f): 1:51am On Jul 13, 2011
Thats why Yoruba women their men run from them cos, they are the most wicked and jealous women in Nigeria, not all of them but majority of them are not nice
Are you minding them. I have told them that they need to be more aggressive and give it up to the highest bidders like their ibo counterparts. Yansh all the senators and vice presidents even though they are Yoruba or hausa. They have no business being jealous, just yansh like the ibo girls do betterstill get into Nollywood, that would be your ticket to high class call girl! You would be bidded on by the top guns in government or sometimes even do small fry like Dbanj. It doesn't matter if you get an illegitimate child from it at least the money you would get from the Alhajis and senators or entertainers would be sufficient for child support.

Yeah, a nation with least poverty in Nigeria, and also one that has greatly made Nigeria popular.
By single handedly churning the crap called Nollywood, by being the most ethnic group caught around the world for peddling of hard drugs? by importing fifth hand goods that kills people daily on the road of Nigeria? By promoting Yahoo yahoo? How exactly?

Yeah, popularity comes in all forms, but have your contributed in making Nigeria relevant?

How have you made your race relevant, that is the question.

Just ask your people in Lagos, why do Igbos travel back to their village often. It is not only for celebration. They have projects being built there. But that is a secret
The same reason why Nigerians in U.S head home during yuletide. They are economic migrants who go to the U.S to seek greener pastures and after toiling and making little money and given the bulk to the U.S to improve its economy, they go back to relax and enjoy the little money they have made from the land of milk and honey.

You call your sorry clan a nation? Seriously? The butt of all jokes, a nation? Oh well, I guess even your lot cannot be denied the right to feel funky.

Hmm, massive psychological damage? Interesting perspective! You must be one of the inmates that escaped from Yaba left or else, you wouldn't have known that I have suffered psychological damage. You're going to have to work harder than that, reverse psychology is no longer effective. For filth (even though they don't make 5% of the beggars on Lagos' streets) they sure get quite a lot of attention from you, has anyone ever told you you'd make a good bin lady or maybe you can get a job just holding trash, or maybe just a job . . . . .(well, that isn't sitting abroad anonymously chatting shit you can't back because of your insecurities). Keep yapping dear, I'm sure many of your borthers are cheering your air-headed self on.
My comments must be doing something to you to have considered it reverse psychology at all! It's good to know.

How do you know that your kinfolks don't make 5% of the beggers? Did you conduct the last census and are privy to some statistics that are not available in the public domain? I have told you and your ilk to stop coming here to make st.u.pid assertions you are ill equipped to back up. For all we know, given the spate of influx from your villagers into Lagos, you could well be in the running for the top position of beggars if not armed robbers. Yes, you are absolutely right that your kinfolks get attention from me, why? I like putting in my own quota for humanity. We can't have deranged lot like yours running around making stupid assertions without someone putting them in check. I have taken on the role to put you in your place. No, don't thank me; it's the little I do for mankind.

You think I would make a good bin lady? Well, I’m not surprised, I’m a very passionate lady and I know that whatever it is I set my mind to, I excel in it, so, make me a bin lady today, and i’ll turn it into a multi million making company which would supply bins to your state and the whole of Nigeria. You say “a bin lady” as if it’s a bad thing. There’s money even in shit, don’t you know?
. . .and you know that i’m sitting abroad because. . .?? It’s better to shut your mouth and be thought of as a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. Ezeagu, you are a BUFFOON!!

Alhaji, you know its the truth,
let your government make the other seaports viable and you ll see how fast the people that count avoid that ' herpes sore
This is why your region would always lag behind in developmental heights because you lot rest on your laurels waiting for the government to make it happen. You claim to have single handedly built Lagos and made it what is it today yet you cannot replicate that in your own region? Can't you all see how you all keep exposing yourselves as liars and "no do gooders"?

"If only Awolowo didn't betray us", "if only we were not so marginalise", "if only the Yorubas didn't sabotage our every move", when would you quit being a nation of whiners and moaners. You claim to be so great yet in your region, you cannot boast of one local government that has achieved anything worthy of emulation. Can't you see that the joke is on you? Lagos and Yorubas are so bad, each and every day, your region loses yet another hard working kin to its rival. It begger belief that you claim so much greatness but your region is in a sorry state.

You are all just empty barrells and you make the loudest noise. All talk and no substance!
