floriana: John Momoh is running cash and carry with slow but steady organic growth. He will go under if he attempts to owe half of Dokpesi's debt.
That's so true! He's really been careful of his decisions and i think that's why he's still in the business. It's very easy to pack-up in media business.

If you have a problem with this government, why not state it or keep it to yourself rather than critize an objective view powered by a working government.

Sesan2: It is not a rumour. This is what he said when he fielded questions from journalists on 24th June (See the Punch Newspaper of 25th June 2012 - and other relevant newspapers). An extract from Punch Newspaper:

The President stated that those who argued that he should not have embarked on the trip when Kaduna and Yobe states were being attacked by the violent sect, were ignorant.
He spoke during the Presidential Media Chat broadcast live on the Nigerian Television Authority.
Trip to Brazil
Justifying the trip, he said, "I have no regrets going to Brazil. The issue of security in this country, especially relating to the Boko Haram crisis is pathetic, I have lost people and I have lost property. I sympathise with people who have lost property and relations. I feel the pain.
"As President of this country, even if one person dies, I feel sad. But one thing is that if you know the tactics of terrorists, Nigerians who were worried that I travelled got worried out of ignorance.
"One of the tactics of terrorists is to strangle government. If they heard that the President and the Vice-President wanted to travel but couldn't do so because they struck, they would celebrate it."
According to him, Presidents of other countries had always encouraged him to ensure that the government of Nigeria does not stop because of terrorism.

Is he not now indicating that they have strangled his government?
Not at all, Mr. President was simply refering to his transformation masterplan been affected by the sect. You and i know that BH hasn't been an issue until he was elected President. He's only being sincere and been sincere should not be taken as blaming or incompetence.
PoliticsRe: Without PDP Democracy In Nigeria Will Collapse – GEJ by DExplorer1: 9:29pm On Jul 18, 2012
uzomagic: Many Nigerians fail to remember that democracy is not an end in itself but a means to an end; good governance, justice, peace and ultimately development which is a function of the aforementioned. Secondly, democracy, of all the modes of government known to mankind remains the best form of government. Whether we agree or not the truth remains that in the dark days of the military especially between 1983-1999, this Country went several years backwards. Since, the return to democracy in 1999, the PDP has continued to provide leadership for the Country. Given the preceding sixteen years of uninterrupted military despotism by the Buhari, IBB and Abacha regimes, democratic culture is still evolving and is fraught with challenges and limitations like every human institution. Whatever the reservations any person or group of persons may have with the leadership of the PDP at Federal level, the truth remains that it could have been worse. The performance of the opposition controlled states have been almost pathetic as can be examplified from the abysmal performances of the then AD controlled States particularly in the South-West between 1999-2003. The class of Akande(Osun), Adesina(Oyo), Adebayo(Ekiti), Osoba(Ogun) and Tinubu(Lagos) were largely disappointing and this perhaps explains why they were eased out of power in the 2003 general elections except of course with the exception of Tinubu. Since 1999 till date it is on record that the best performing State Governors have always been from the PDP; Donald Duke(Cross River), Chimaroke Nnamani(Enugu) Adamu Muazu(Bauchi) who all did exceptionally well were all of the PDP. On taking over the helm of affairs in 2003, Ayo Fayose re-defined governance in Ekiti after the State went comatose under his ad predecessor, Adebayo. Governor Danjuma Goje(Gombe) also engineered a turnaround of the fortunes of his State from the decay that characterised the State under the previous ANPP administration under Hashidu. With the achievements of Goje, Saraki, Muazu, Yar'Adua, Duke, and even among the present crop, Akpabio, Amaechi, Lamido have all stood out as distinguished performers. The truth remains that there is no evidence to show that the opposition parties would have been able to provide direction and stability in government at the Federal level. By a long shot, both at the state and Federal levels, PDP has remained the bedrock of the Country's democracy and will remain so for a long time to come.
You're very much on point. It's a long-term progress. Nigerians will appreciate our President's good works soon though some can't be pleased.

Watch your words and go get your facts right dude.
PoliticsRe: Soyinka Backs Patience Jonathan's Appointment As Bayelsa Perm Sec by DExplorer1: 9:17pm On Jul 18, 2012
twinstaiye: Mrs Jonathan is still a civil servant under Bayelsa State government, she only took a leave of absence to become first lady ever since her hubby became deputy governor up till now. By being the first lady, and as the true daughter of Bayelsa, she is like a beacon of light to them, and it is only fair that when her peers are being promoted, she also should be promoted, which brings out the reason why she is given the appointment as a perm sec. University Lecturers, Sports men and women etc had all being allowed to go on leave of absence on a special circumstances, and I dont think Her excellency Dame Patience Jonathan should be an exception. Kongi, our own WS, had hit the nail on the head, who cares whose ox is gored.
You just said it all. Her excellency has every right to honour the call to duty. She remains a civil servant in Bayelsa.

PoliticsRe: Without PDP Democracy In Nigeria Will Collapse – GEJ by DExplorer1:
Gbawe: Which "unbiased Nigerians"? The ones who only see PDP moving Nigeria towards imminent "collapse" via the insecurity, misrule and hideous corruption they abet with opportunistic callousness? How many Governors has the PDP produced since 1999 and how many , as a percentage, have been ultra-woeful? Do the statistics and inspect the awful ratio.

If democracy means "winning" election and then pretending to lead while you actually loot, then certainly PDP takes the prize. As per how many Nigerians have had their fundamental thinking and reasoning bastardized , I am certainly not surprised you and some "unbiased Nigerians" think the PDP represent "democracy". It just shows Nigeria is an aberration that tends to give its own warped interpretations to things.

Look below to see what others ,actually decent practitioners of democracy as designed, think of the PDP. While you see "democrats", the rest of the world, commenting solely on what is on the ground, see only opportunists Vultures,Hyenas and plunderers.

http://ekens-orlu1..co.uk/
1) You see, your hate for PDP won't allow you to be abit objective in your judgement. In as much as i detest corruption, i would like you to pin-point a political party that has kept a clean sheet. Politics is about 2 people; those caught and those yet to be caught. Don't forget whichever way, there's an escape route.

2) The kind of politics practised in Nigeria is a complex one and you talking about PDP governor's count and result shouldn't be rocket science as Rotimi, Akpabio and many others will respond to that.

3) It sounds comical when you began to relate far and wide paid, traffic-seeking articles and comment to realities in Nigeria, you should know better.

4) PDP winning an election has always been decided by the unbiased Nigerians which includes YOU. Whether you voted for the party or the candidate, at least you voted! The strength of the party and candidate nature won't permit Nigerians those you think have their fundamental thinking and reasoning bastardized to vote for no one than the Umbrella still covering you.

I think you see clearer now, Mr. Gbewe? GEJ is on a long-term progress, the more people like you bury your excessive and magical expectations the better you appreciate people like me and the government.

Well said! It's not about been a PDP member or defending a party unreasonably. It's about been realistic. Many Nairaland cyber-warriors will not for once accept ANYTHING that comes in GEJ's name so why convincing them. PDP is a mega party contained with all tribes and languages. No doubt Mr. President was right.
