Crime / Nigerian Woman Sentenced To 80 Years Imprisonment In US by diehard1: 12:00pm On Nov 23, 2012
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/51369--nigerian-woman-sentenced-to-80-years-imprisonment-in-us

Friday, 23 November 2012

A Houston jury has reached a decision on the sentencing phase of the trial against Jessica Tata, a daycare owner whose home caught fire, killing and injuring several children.

On November 13, Tata was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 80 years in prison.

Tata, 24, left children in a home on Crest Park near Waypark alone with a pan of grease heating on a stove while she went shopping on February 24, 2011.

When she got home, the house was on fire. Elias, Shomari Dickerson, 3; Elizabeth Kojah, 20 months, and Kendyll Stradford, 20 months, all died in the fire. Three other children were hurt.

Jurors took eight hours to decide on punishment. Tata will be eligible for parole in 30 years.

Tata wiped away tears as her attorney, Mike DeGeurin, said the fire and deaths were an accident. He said Tata made a mistake and never intended for the children to be hurt because she loved them.

“She should have called for help or she should have said to herself, ‘I’ll wait until they wake up, change their diapers, I’ll load them up in the car and we’ll go shopping together,’” DeGeurin said. “But she didn’t.”

DeGeurin said that Tata will forever pay, no matter how long she spends in prison, for using bad judgment.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Are People Now Afraid Of Bank Jobs? by diehard1: 9:58am On Oct 12, 2012
Why do people complain when it is optional to take up employment. I don't think banker's on the average pass through stress people in the oil(of shore), telecoms, doctor's etc do. They offer 24/7 service and many are always on standby. If one decides not to be self employed then you have to adjust to what you see. There are few positions in Nigeria

i wouldn't go for a naija used 6th gen maxima unless i know the car history well. I hope you are not just managing!!! To enjoy it you need to give it tender loving care. It's not your everyday car like camry that you can drive without bothering about lights on the dash board and managing to drive without fixing issues that come up. Look at the transmission and make sure you scan the naija used car before buying. All the best

Health / Re: World Sickle Cell Day by diehard1: 1:24pm On Jun 19, 2012
God is your strength and he will see you through. Many happy years bro.

blink182: These days I'm so healthy it takes my avascular necrosis to remind me my genotype is SS. Thank God for my mother who never gave up and a father who was never there but was very concerned too. I thank God for cellod-s. If not for it, maybe it would be approaching my 15th remembrance by now.

To 'sufferers' out there, hold on. God will not permit a temptation you can not handle. I know some are already saying 'how can?' but there is nothing God can not do. I used to have all the symptoms which are all gone until I developed avascular necrosis 2 years back, most of you won't even know what it is because your case is not that severe, I guess a stroke is the only symptom I haven't had. But I am out of it all, from being a dwarf to growing to over 6ft, yeah my avascular necrosis is gone just stretching my glute to regain full joint motion.

The only advantage of being SS seems to be our intelligence, I haven't met even an average SCD sufferer. We are all brilliant beyond average, despite being a fine artist people think I belong to the sciences.

Wishing you all the best, in your deepest pains please do not give up hope. God is with us all.

Have a nice day
Health / Re: World Sickle Cell Day by diehard1: 12:54pm On Jun 19, 2012
There should be more awareness on prevention too. Most parents that have sicklers, do so due to ignorance and this leads to sadness on both the parents and the children. Couples that have the probability of giving birth to sicklers should endeavour to stop the relationship no matter the love between them cause they may end up leaving a sad life if their kids end up being sicklers. The other alternative is adoption or to do selection before birth which many my not like.

ifeci: There are fools on this thread who must stammer before they say the name of their school cos they aint even proud of it! and the go about beefing and happy cos jonamalu wants to bring down Unilag to their cadre. motherphuckers!

In the outside world (within Nigeria), it is not your name school that matters. Well I don see any of the schools around making any impression on me cause of the name. A first class from a mushroom university will come before a third class or second class graduate from a highly glorified high school (local university) here.

I don't understand what is wrong with these kids. They where asked to go home and they feel the best thing is to challenge authorities. Imagine staying in school and challenging police and one is injured or even killed. What has name change got to do with how successful the graduates from the school would be? They better do what the owners of the institution(federal govt) wants because all these protests will not change a thing.
First your VC is acting and he will want to impress the government to show he is in control. He will lobby and do all he can to achieve this. Imaging people from above telling him are you sure you are in control?
Secondly since the students have rioted, and sent home they will have time to paint every where MAULag, so when the students come back, everywhere will be painted MAULag and they can even ask them to pay for what was destroyed befre being allowed to resume studies. This will bring them to their knees. Who is now loosing.
Thirdly students don't order a commander in chief around.

Just call the customer care of your provider and find out if they have roaming agreement with the country you are going to. If you are a post paid subscriber you most likely have to pay roaming deposit to activate roaming for you.
Phones / Re: Please How Can I Trace Phone Number by diehard1: 11:01am On May 01, 2012
You have to make request to mtn via police cause it has security implication. They will now determine the cellsite controlling the number and the actual address. It will be 100% accurate. Hope this helps.

Car Talk / Help Nissan Maxima Not Accelerating by diehard1: 10:58am On Apr 27, 2012
My nissan maxima 2000 model behaves erratically. Atimes in motion it will just stop accelerating no matter how the throttle is depressed. The tachmeter will get to 4000 rev and stay there. If the car is restarted everything becomes fine again and it will accelerate. Imagine if it happens when i want to overtake!! I have tried the following.
1.Scanning and it does not show any error code with different scanners.
2.Swapping the MAF to another car and using , still same
3.Changing the transmission oil to with the specified oil, still same
4.
Please any ideas
thanks

Thank you very much,I actually thought there was no V4 but a friend kept telling me there is.
@fhemmy what amount will I be looking @ to get a good one with low mileage?
@kunle A,I have had a bad experience with V6 engines in Nissan Maxima, can I ask a candid question which is better a Honda V6 or Toyota V6?

Sorry about the maxima, as far as am concerned that is all i drive and they are ok. Am sure you had problems with the electrical systems and not the engine. Most likely this is due to giving your car to wrong mechanics.

Even if you get an avalon, try and get a nice mechanic/electrician that understands the way your car works. Generally scan your car once you see any light on the dash board and know why it is there. V6 whether honda or toyota is good, problem is with technicians.
