T3000 mega 4K for #85,000!
I've read about the decoder. Interesting and costly but sophisticated. I rather budget and wait for it than to buy ones with lower features and keep changing later.
But sir, must this beast always be on data for it to work?
No it does not. Except you are using stuff that needs internet access.

you people should desist from misleading the public, our TV decoder doesn't multistream except there is a patch somewhere that I don't know about... connecting 4 satellite dish to a decoder is not multistream please!!!
No doubt you are totally right. I believe the guy was only trying to help but not paying attention to understand the question before making an input. So give a dog a bone and he will find his way home. One love.

The thing is that most peeps here just post based on EIRP/footprints but in real time, the data may not be the same especially for birds covering West Africa/Sub Sahara Africa.

Everything that has to rely on data is always questionable about Africa — On maybe the service provider of the Nigerian mux made it really difficult to hunt. Several people have already attested that hunting that bird has been really elusive.

From EIRP maps, with a 1.8m dish, you should easily hunt birds like Intelsat 68.5E and the Nigerian mux in 60E but it's not always the case, same for 7E too. So I have a rule of thumb,if data says 1.8m,I go for 2.4m instead.in some cases,it doesn't mean you can't hit the bird bit you just need some "surplus" to make your hunting easier especially if you're a rookie.
You're on point.

isn't like that with 2.4m here in Nigeria he can't get good signal on mux 60e
That's Why I pointed out that We should consider the location first.

But then I feel You bro, because out of curiosity I tried nailing that bird way back but notice the signal was weak down in my path. So I never bothered again. Besides one can easily receive those channels now with small dishes and the right decoder in other satellite position.

I have DSTV explorer. Can it be converted to serve the same purpose as those decoders?
If you're just interested in connecting to normal free to air station with just one single lnb.. Then there is a possibility in that.

But having multiple dishes connected to it is not going to be possible because it does not have that functionality.

Then on the hype about multistream channels.. Don't expect that to happen as well With Your explorer.

Sir, and the best among these is?
If I am in your shoes and I am in the market for the next best thing in decoder.. I will consider

Tiger T3000 Mega 4K .. If money is not a setback. Considering the fact that someday you hear people move from saying multistream channels to 4k channels. It is also an android box So You can easily install Dstv now app on it and still catch up with some of your favourite, from the box to your TV wide screen view. Just a thought.

But coming back to the former list I gave based on financial limitations, then I will pick the Tiger T8 ultra.

I guess 497S is multistream but need patch.
Which one is the best decoder pls?
Considering the fact that you're very much interested in the multistream option. Then you have to pick 497s which seems to be their most current decoder.

Thanks for the insight. However, this setup appears too advanced for my beginner's level. I was rather hoping to attain the MBC channels on badr5 with the same lnb that I used to attain astra 28. Is that even possible?
Study the image carefully and you will notice how easy it can be for you. Just track the nigcosat first (42.5 degree) tight your dish. Move to your joy TV frequency, connect your wire to your extra lnb . Then standing in front of your dish, place the lnb at the right side of the L shape bar holding the lnb. Then slide down slowly and you will notice the signal coming up.

As regards to tracking joy TV and 26e together, it's possible but you're currently having an issue getting the mbc Tp to pop on 26 degree. That's why I gave you another solution to still achieve your goal in one dish setup.

Thanks again. I noticed that the decoder is not picking the nbc channels on badr5 . I used the tp settings on lynsat to no avail. Can you please help me with how to get it? Already got some channels on badr 5
The attached image shows a setup I did to use along with my Dstv decoder and my free to air decoder in one dish. Mind you 16degree east can still fit into the same dish just a little Way below. But I removed it because I don't need it.

For the fact that you are getting some channels listed on the satellite position shows you are there. But on the issue of the mbc tp not popping up can or maybe resolved with a more stronger lnb or a little bigger dish. But considering the fact that you may want to make do with what you already have on ground, then you can try tweaking your lnb , while your eyes in on the tracker.

You can as well change your lnb lineup and make nigcomsat position to be your primary lnb.. While you attach joy TV and every other satellite position that fits into one dish. That's if it is what you were going for. After all mbc, is still very much stable in nigcosat.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 7:48pm On Sep 24, 2020
On the issue of ourtv being a multistream decoder or not? From my own opinion, I want to assume it could have been. If only there was a software patch to fix that. Simply because the hardware is already equipped for such. Just like strong 497s which will never bring out those channels fresh off the box, until you manually load it with a software patch. Sadly that's not the case for ourtv decoder. So which leads to it being ruled out as a multistream enabled decoder.

It's just a thought and not a certainty. So make nobody crucify me oh.

Yes you can.

1.8m will do. smiley
Let's not be too quick to dismiss this claim because you never know the exact location where this particular dish was installed.

I still remember way back, like 10 to 13 years ago. Some guys here installed nilesat with 1.8 metre dish here. I bought 1.8 metre , I did not got it.. Someone in my location got it with 2.4. So I bought 2.4 metre, even when my dish was 30 feet above the ground I did not get it. So I went ahead and bought 3m dish, that's when the signal even pop up in my location. Also there are lnb that can still help in making that which seems difficult to one person a lot more easier. Make you people nor begin quote me wrong oh !! I am just sharing an experience. One love

This is getting interesting! But what can Nigcomsat, 7e5e, 28e, 52e offer? Coz I need to satisfy ladies that are crazy for telenovela, seasonal Movies and action movies too.

Though gotta holla @ u soon.
Thanks sir.
It's a good step hooking up with someone close by to you. That way both of you can figure out a more realistic approach.

On a lighter note.. Did I hear you say satisfy ladies? Oh boy!! I just hope the particular one you're trying to satisfy is not a ZEEWORLD fan. Because I don't know how you can archive that without channel 166.. Lol!! Anyways nothing is impossible when your mind is made up.

You uploaded a picture and circled (H.265/HEVC) as meaning multistream, that isn't correct.
I was just pointing out that H.265 doesn't mean Multistream. A decoder can be H.264 and still multistream.
Strong 497s is H.265 but doesn't multistream without a software patch.

'H.265' is just a video compression standard, 'Multistream' on the other hand is a Signal Stream Transport standard.

Two totally different things.
It was simply education, not an argument though.
Peace
Hmm... You win, I am not here to ague, claim smart, claim right or claim I too know. I am only here to help as little as I can without stepping on anybody's toes to achieve that goal. So more grease to your elbow.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m):
SlyCharlie:
H.265 doesn't necessarily mean multistream capable.
Whereas a H.264 decoder may be multistream capable, a H.265 may not.
Funny enough the decoder Should've been multistream enabled if only there was a patch on the internet for such decoders.

But then, life is a matter of choices and opportunities. So make we leave the matter like that.

Increased cost of DSTV subscription has made me opt for free to air satellite.

Please house, for a family that has fans of football, news, action movies and telenovela, what type of decoder/satellite installation would guarantee satisfaction?

Location: Ikorodu.
To add to Eerekake advice.. Don't forget to add Nigcomsat @42.5e, for mbc movies. Then you can make a comparison between Mytv official decoder and ourtv decoder to see which gives you that true taste of premium free to Air. Goodluck

Good morning guys. I want to ask if anyone has tracked the new tstv frequency and how did they go about it? What tp was used for quicker finding?
Also, if anyone has 3w or 10e to to please bail me out
For the fact that they are currently under test transmission, you will notice channel shuffling. But it looks promising. Mind you, I notice that they are gradually going the multi-stream path. So you're likely to not get all their channels if you are not using a multi- stream decoder.

As regards to 3w, nothing enticing to write about. For 10e, don't really have any dish pointing at that direction . So I guess it's up to someone else to update you with that information.

You can use this frequency to track then blind scan 11050 H 30000

But below are their dedicated frequency

10970 H 30000

11130 H 30000

Good evening. I have tried to nail astra satellite at 28.2 e and Badr 5 at 26e but all of my efforts did not yield anything even with a satfinder. I was able to get eutelsat 36e quite easily. Please What am I missing? I am using a 90cm dish. Please help.
As for 28.2, I believe What you're missing is patience and steady hands. But as for 26e the mbc frequency has a very low signal strength based on location.

Also the line of sight can still play a tricky role in making something that simple like 28.2 degree be that difficult. Eg > mounting location and dish hanger alignment. You can also try turning your lnb from 3.0 clock to 4.0 clock or from 4.0clock to 3.0clock. Little things like this sometimes goes a long way to give you that edge towards achieving your tracking goals.

Less I forget I came to notice a long time ago that editing your frequency can sometimes do the magic especially if you are tracking with an old lnb.

For example let's say your tracking frequency is 12522 V 30000 and you change it or edit it to 12527 V 30000 on your tracker. Magically it pops up. Imagine that.

OK let me just say the channels were cracking
Unless I am missing something here. "cracking channel " is a dish related issue which an RF modulator can not fix. The RF modulator is mostly used to either convert AV input to RF output , For decoders which does not have an inbuilt RF port, or to boost the Rf signal to other rooms for clearer picture.
