lincolnola:Below is the frequency and satellite position I gave you for Bet9ja Satellite – SES 5 Frequency – 11919 Symbol Rate – 27500 Polarization – Horizontal Longitude – 4.8 degrees East If there is any currently existing in 7 degree, I can't say for now. However, if you already have 7 degree east dish installed. Then you can just run a blind scan and see if it pops up. Then update the house. |
ojeysky:Remember he said he is not interested in powering all the listed appliances with solar. So does that not count for making what was listed adequate, even if not efficient? Just a question. |
Willokafor:Bro they say majority wins the vote. So if you are running it on a small apartment, majority advice for you to just get a DUAL/ TWIN/ DOUBLE PIN LNB/ TWO DISEQ SWITCH TO ACHIEVE A RELIABLE AND PEACE OF MIND SET UP. BUT IF YOU ARE EMBARKING ON A LARGER OR COMMERCIAL BUILDING SET UP. THEN USE A MULTISWITCH. Anything other than that is at your own risk because that's the only tested and trusted proven ways to run/ install such a setup on a small or larger scale. I REST MY CASE. |

1kinggy:Bro the only personal tested and trusted advice on this issue of multiple decoder usage. That I can stand for anytime, any day. Is changing all the LNB from the existing single to dual LNB. Whatever comment I made on the issue of joining wires is just for educational purposes. It was never my idea or advice but that of someone else here. I believe he will be in the best position to advice you if it is a risk worth taking in practicality. But will I do it for myself? No!! Will I ask anyone to do it for their self? No!! |
ben1daEbiri:I totally agree with you. But on the other hand, it could just be a temporary fix, to someone who knows how to manage it efficiently. Till the person really have the time and resources or financial ability .To get the necessary tools for a more flexible configuration. |
waleayeni1:Yeah that's it my bro. It's really puts you at the driver's seat ... Makes you have the feel of being your own Service provider. The sat finder is an absolute because it makes things not only easier and faster but so much more flexible. |
Ameboperoo:NOPE.. just the Same Satellite channels. For example, if you're watching channels on multi TV position on decoder one. Then you have to be watching channels on multi TV position on decoder two. Irrespective of the polarity, it works. But just a 2 percent signal drop is what you will notice. |
1kinggy:Definitely you can. But let me point out one downside to this configuration. If decoder A is on and you decide to put on decoder B, and each are in two different satellite channels. Then the signal to decoder B will not come up. But if decoder A and B channels are on the same satellite position . Both channels signal will be stable. For example you are watching Joy TV @28.2 degree on decoder A , and someone else decides to watch MBC2 @42.5 degree east through decoder B. The signal will not come up because there is a conflict. However, if the two decoders will not be on at the same time, it works or if both decoders will be on the same satellite channels, it will also work as well without any conflict. So it boils down to how comfortable the person using feels about it or ready to make that compromise. |
ogbeh44:That's interesting to know. Two good years with no complications. Wow!! |
baggiosne:I have not really been opportune to try it with a dish lesser than 90cm. Because I don't have such laying around. But if the dish you have is less than 90cm , then you can just give it a try and update the house. No pain... No gain. |
waleayeni1:You can try ABS 3A at 3.0°W There are channels currently there to meet your needs, besides the documentaries. There is a carton station there, Foreign movie station Africa movie station Also a music channel. Tracking Transponder 10972 V 30000 |

Here is a picture of a crude method I just did right now with a binding wire for you to have an idea. So you can modify with whatever tools you have handy, to package the installation to your taste. Good luck

Debroslink:Thanks.. I am humbled... No one knows it all, so make I dey contribute my little little Knowledge gathered over the years. From great minds who started this thread so many years back and kept it alive. It will always be an unending circle of interaction to keep the thread alive. So that, the old and the new can still have a platform to bump into each other. Each time they pass through ( sharing ideas/ information/updates, of the past, present and future). Despite our everyday commitments outside this forum. |
eddyline:A multiswitch is a device used With DUAL/QUATTRO LNB, to distribute satellite TV signal to multiple decoders/receivers. It can rang from multiple decoders and even more decoders can be connected to it . It is a system configuration that is used to supply satellite/ TV / radio signal, through one single cable, in order to limit installation cost. Multiswitch is commonly installed in blocks of flats/ commercial buildings/ hotels. To allow every resident to receive satellite signal without each resident having to install a separate dish to receive satellite signal in the same compound/ location. From a layman's definition ( through the help of a multiswitch, that is how an installer can connect signal to as many as 8 Dstv decoders/receivers (but not limited) in a hotel. Without having to install 8 dishes to get the signal needed to service the 8 or more decoders in that system configuration. |
levis2kk:MBC is still very much alive in this satellite positions 42.5 degree east 26 degree east 7 degree west. I don't know which of these your dish is pointed at. So check your dish and signal and do the needed alignment. Good luck |
giggspro:Yes it can multistream Yes it is an FTA enabled decoder Price should be less than 10k ( but don't quote me on that because I am not a marketer) |
bakbayus:Good morning. It's located at Mytv current position (Belintersat 1 at 51.5°E) So using Dstv or joy TV or nigcomsat position as your reference point. Just shift your dish a few inches to the left and slide your dish a little downwards. The signal will pop up. Tracking frequency 11050 H 30000 Mytv 11130 H 30000 TSTV Happy hunting |
iliyande:Indeed!!! |
I hope you guys have added TSTV Channels to your setup. After all FTA Is all about enjoying it while it last. |
emmaniche:This Your configuration is brilliant, simple, smart, durable, long lasting, reliable and way less expensive to the Multiswitch configuration. So to Make it way less cost effective, I will advice him to just choose the satellite position that really shows the important channels he loves watching in the second decoder and change it to DUAL LNB. That's is if he wants to cut cost. But if not, he should just change all the single LNB to DUAL LNB like you rightly Advice. |
emmaniche:You never know, someone who can install solar must chop remain. Haha, don't mind me oh |
emmaniche:That's why I asked him to elaborate, because it sounded out of place. But I still wanted to give him the benefit of doubt to explain more, so I don't jump into conclusions |
ogbeh44:Another solution to consider. But be kind enough to elaborate on your configuration |
Digitman:MULTISWITCH |
A good advice for him to consider. |
Willokafor:Two point to consider when answering such a question like this should be (1) the two decoders will be using two different power source at someone point.. So the only time both will totally be on is when there is electricity from the power company (2) so what could be the limitation to this is you apply the configuration of looping from one decoder to another ? Considering the fact that the primary decoder has to be on for the looping to take effect. Furthermore someone pointed out the issue of some channels only working on one polarity. That becomes another area to consider. So which other solution comes in mind? |
Harus:Life is a lesson, so we can never stop learning. So enjoy your new acquired knowledge to the fullest |
lincolnola:Price wise I can't say but I believe there are people here who market the product. I believe someone will come out to answer that. On the issue of it is HD decoder. Yes it is HD, remember 4k is higher than HD in video resolution. And this is a 4k enabled decoder. |
adubam:Are you absolute about that? |
Harus:Unless I am not getting you right. A maximum of four devices(phones/tablets) can have full access to one account . Funny enough you can still use the account of other family members who have Dstv but not really into the app thing to multiply the access to as many phones/tablets as possible. Currently I have over 25 phones/tablets connected, using the above method. There are so many friends and family with active Dstv account who do not care about using the account for Dstv now. All I do is just ask for them to give me access to connect those who really need it to use it. |
?
it's certainly inadequate, you will need a budget of 6 digits to achieve this and 1 will not be the first number sef. So what was recommended to you is grossly inadequate. However if that is your budget then ditch the following:
