AjanleKoko:

I think data services are on the rise right now.
I'd advise you go for the IP track, CCIP I think it is called.

Thank You.

I've being looking around and it seems the telecoms industry's need for RF engineers both locally and outside the shores of Nigeria is on the rise. Does getting a CCIP qualification have a lot to do with this position (RF Engineer) or one should rather study Telecommunication Engineering (At MSc level in my case because I already hold a BSc in Computer Science)

I just passed my ccna exams and intend to proceed to get CCNP verified. I know the ccnp is divided in some specializations like voice et al. From your knowledge of the demand of the communications industry in Nigeria, which of the specializations would you advice one to go into?

kryztova:

The board of Arsenal must love Arsene Wenger because he doesn't waste (spend) on buying players, after all the club equally makes money from merchandising. In any case, here is something for the Arsenal fans to ponder: (modded the original a bit)

See why Arsenal is drawing red at each game. Arsenal hasn’t won any silverware in 5 seasons.  What i mean is that Arsenal has played in 4 competitions every season (5 Carling Cups, 5 FA Cups, 5 League Championships and 5 Champions League) making a total of 20 attempts at silverware and haven’t been successful ONCE!! 0 success in 20 trials! Let me try again and put it into further perspective,  In the year Arsenal last won ANY silverware:∙ (here goessmiley∙ Airtel was still called VMobile (before becoming Celtel then Zain then to Bharti Airtel),∙  Nigerian Banking Sector still had more than 80 banks∙ Brad Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston∙  Youtube and Twitter had not been created∙ Wabara was still Senate President, and Tafa Balogun was still IG∙ Saddam was still in hiding,∙    George Bush, Fidel Castro, Gerhard Schroeder, Ariel Sharon, Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair were still in power.∙  Goran Erikkson was still coach of England∙ Crystal Palace and Charlton were still in the Premiership∙ Vodafone were still Manchester United's sponsors∙ Rafael Nadal hadn’t won a Grand Slam and Zidane was still captain of France and hadnt headbutted Materazzi in the World Cup final∙ Pope John Paul was still Pope and Kofi Annan was still Sec Gen of UN. If a child was born on the day you last won a trophy, he would be in Primary School, would be able to know the difference between good and evil and would probably be about 3ft tall. ‎Plus Costacurta was still at Milan, Hamman sef still dey L'pool and our own Mikel was battling Lynn Oslo over United and Chelsea, oh did we even know Dbanj/Don Jazzy then Na Style Plus dey reign that time,  Pls let's give dem way before they literally "gun" someone down.

I had to go through 'update your profile','show last posts' links to find this thread. I saw the thread before but the change in title did'nt let me recognize it as the one I was looking for. And the new title is rather interesting nor inviting.
It's really kinda unreasonable that the Mods changed the name of this thread as it doesn't reflect anything close to what the thread starter intended it to be. The Mods should understand better the need for a thread title to be inviting enough, one of which is to magnet as much attention as possible. It is out of this initial attraction that all-important contributions,relationships and partnerships start.
I think the thread name should be reverted to what it was before.

Career / Re: Life As A Nigerian Graduate Can Be So Frustrating by dip0: 4:25pm On Aug 12, 2011
Geeky, I am a graduate who just completed NYSC last june and after reading through your thread, I think I can relate with what you say even though I am male and relatively fresh from school.
I studied computer science and I am more inclined to the area of Networking, not to say I am totally ignorant in programming, DBMS or other I.T related fileds.
I hope things start looking favourable for as you sure have put in considerable effort and have a drive to prove yourself through hardwork.
Pls, if you could make use of a graduate who has just started his road to building a career in I.T, give me a consideration.
I am currently applying for internships since job offers haven't been forth-coming but so far have not made considerable success.
I am pretty sure it's only a matter of time before things start looking upward for you.
Jobs/Vacancies / Need Hardworking I.T Personnel? by dip0: 3:10pm On Aug 12, 2011
I hold a BSc. in computer science and I need a place of work where I can gain some valuable work experience in my chosen field of information technology (or a closely related field). I competed my N.Y.S.C in June this year and  worked in the capacity of end-user engineer where I was responsible for computer hardware trouble-shooting and repair, Networking and database management.

I have taken courses on the basic Cisco Certification (CCNA) but have not written the exams as yet but should write it soon. I have a good handle on Microsoft Office packages and knowledge of Cisco networking devices.
Most of the graduate trainee programs out there are not exactly relevant to my chosen career, hence it been hard getting into any. My goal is to become a professional in the information technology field. As of now, I am not particular about a large pay as I am still at entry level in the labour market but will expect a decent allowance from wherever I get taken.

I'm hoping someone here would be of assistance to me in securing a place where I can gain the all-important job experience anyone needs to climb the ladder in becoming an I.T professional.
I can be reached on 07027950979 or waleshow@hotmail.com or you can drop some way of contact and I will get across.
Thank you

Ajanlekoko

Pls may I know your thoughts about going to Middlesex University in London for a MSc in Telecommunications Engineering? I had my first degree in Computer Science and have particular interest in Networking which is related with Telecomms. With the status quo of a relatively hard life in the U.K, I am undecided about taking the UK admission for Middeles. What do you advise? The positive about my going to UK is that I could start as early as September, whereas for other countries which have other advantages over UK (like U.S where life is easier and one could get a job while studying and some scandinavian countries whr tuition is relatively inexpensive), classes dont begin till early quarter of next year.
Your thoughts pls

Romance / Re: How Do We Move On? by dip0: 11:30am On Jul 01, 2011
thank you, friends. More thanks to Sevule and Negro who I think understand my predicament better and gave their penny's worth.

@sevule.
I did think of and try blocking any form of communication with Ronke. But as I said, after two weeks of silence, she calls and I feel its sheer wickedness watch the fone just ring.
But I see sense in your advice that I may have to be cruel to be kind.

@Negro
In my humble opinion, you are wrong about me being confused. Ronke doesn't possess good command of spoken english and I am one who find girls who speak fairly-well more attractive. I don't want to spend the rest of my life with someone who I can only communicate with in lame english or yoruba. I am not claiming mastery of english grammar, but I want someone who speaks english better than ronke does. Ronke doesn't show signs of a person who appreciates the importance of improving oneself. Sola does. Sola takes challenges as someone with enviable aspirations should.

I just haven't been man enough to make that sacrifice that will help me stop seeing Ronke. Henceforth, I will try not to be in correspondence with her
