Bomb disposal squads only put on their thick armour suits when diffusing a device. Once the device has gone off, its obvious that kind of thick outfit will impede subsequent forensic work. I thought common sense was common.

Dont forget the british have offered help. The police need to do the preliminary work by the book so the british can contribute.
How refreshing, on the very week of independence the British are offering to help- 50 years later

shouldn't we stop the British and their bbc people from coming so they dont show another this is abuja programme to rubbish us cool

THIS TOPIC IS RUBBISH. Those men are police personnel and nothing whatsoever to do with the Nigerian Army Bomb Disposal Unit.
It is also a VERY FOOLISH conjecture that any security personnel inspecting a wreckage must be from the anti bomb unit.
They may simply be carting away the remains for example.
However the usual US-based disgruntled elements could not resist putting in a few jaundiced posts.
Duhhh what are police personnel doing at the scene of a car bomb, shouldn't it be the bomb squad, it is very foolish to suggest ordinary police with no training and equipment will inspect a bombed wreckage, and you dont 'cart away' remains with bare hands with no bags or gloves in site!

when did ordinary police start wearing 'green' anyway?

True Aliko connived wih OBJ and seized his uncles Jetty and yeah thats about the only asset he had left that was  actively generating come.

To say the late Usman was his Aliko's benefactor is an understatement, they made him Usman and his dad.

At the time OBJ granted Dangote the Jetty, Usman has been paralysed for over 20 Yrs,he recently passed away.

Thankfully the late Yaradua being very familiar with Usman who used to be very close to the late General shehu Musa Yaradua(president yaradua's elder  brother) promptly reversed the injustice on coming to power in 2007.

People blamed the late. Gen. Shehu Yaradua's boys for what happened to Usman. He was shot several times a bullet lodged in his heart remained there for over 15 years as no doctor was willing to touch it.

Indeed Aliko Dangote messed up big time. Its inhuman! Story is very True!

Let's give a sitting president a chance? Are you kidding me? What other chance does he need?
ahh THANK YOU!!

I think he is extremely selfish and insecure, he doesn't want to rock the boat so things fall in place for him ignoring he still has to deal with the these issues later on

He is insecure only dealing with issues around him right now, changing army personnel as if to show he is in control
he has surround himself with 'old hands' who havent even achieved anything concrete in the past!

Even Yaradua that was to be a puppet of OBJ showed his hands very early but this Johnnie guy wouldn't rock the boat so as no to 'heat up the polity'- one of those clichés from the old guards who don't want a change!

same could be said of 98% of politicians in Nigeria including the current president, Bankole, BRF, Akala, OGD etc etc

80% of Saraki's criticism comes from the fact his dad was a former senator and he has a sister in the senate

Unlike Nigerians that run after 'titles' they have studied the terrain, they dont want to 'soil' their names in public its better in private where Nigerian journalist will even help defend their actions

Most of those huge contracts are awarded to them especially in the north and guess what a high percentage of those contract that seems to go on forever being re-budgeted is in their hands!!

funny thing is Nigerians are quick to point to 'lots' of foreigners' in the country as a sign of progress- instead of looking out for the right kind of foreigners
Politics › Re: Why Saraki And Sanusi Hijacked Intercontinental Bank by DisGuy: 6:57pm On Sep 29, 2010
Alabi is paying himself N7 million per month (N84 million per year), yet he is still using the Banks money to fuel his car and generators. I never earned up to N5 million per month throughout my 21 years of building the bank.
Lai Alabi has bought for himself and each executive director 3 bulletproof jeeps each. I only used two official cars at any one time throughout my 21 years stay in the bank. Lai Alabi and his Executive Directors had granted themselves Housing loans of N100 million each having worked for just a few months.

Before I left the Bank, we had 350 branches in Nigeria, 40 branches in Ghana, one UK office and ten stand-alone subsidiaries. Now Mahmoud Lai Alabi is selling off the Branches and other assets of the bank with impunity and diverting the proceeds.
Before I left the Bank, we had 12,000 members of staff. Now Mahmoud Lai Alabi has retrenched over 3,000 of them (and he is set to sack more). I think employment provision should be a major measure of an economy that is doing well.
so because of N7.X billion Saraki is after this reverend?

What's the going rate for a MD per month in nigerian banks? isnt it common that 'administrators or contracted executive get perks when there's a takeover or transition?

I cant belive this Pastor is was made CIBN topman when ran to London didn't you see your mate closing branches and statistics for unemployment as a result of recession?

AjanleKoko:
Ironically, when I visited India recently, and was asking a native why their state of infrastructure was so appalling, he had this to say:

'There is too much opposition to everything. When the government tries to do something, they get on the average four or five lawsuits stopping them from doing anything. Result is, at the end of the day, nothing is ever done, or anything done is never finished or done with very poor quality.'

Also, the 'human rights activist', Adegboruwa, has a street named after him, off the road where you have TPH. He has a nice mansion there. Human rights activist indeed!
. . . . In the UK there's also strong opposition to many developmental plans, several consultations several environmental issues, relocation and compensation schemes are sorted out well over 3-4 years before they go ahead in the end almost everyone is 'happy' right down to squirrel protection group!

Looking at India is looking backwards to be honest, we need infrastructure badly but I'm pretty sure we can get it done without appearing to bulldoze the powerless citizens over with financial speak!

The proposed merger between Dangote Cement and Benue Cement Company Plc, was given a boost yesterday as shareholders gave their blessing at a court-ordered meeting held in Kano. Chairman BCC Alhaji Aliko Dangote speaking at the meeting assured shareholders of immense benefits from the merger which include: reduced operational cost arising from improved efficiency and the remaining five years of tax holiday still being enjoyed by some of the component arms of the emergent company.

At the end of the poll, a total of 3.597 billion shares or 99.8 per cent of the total 3.604 billion ordinary shareholding of BCC voted in support of the merger. Fielding questions from shareholders at the meeting, Dangote said the merger will facilitate better access to financing, adding that the post-merger entity would have a bigger balance sheet and a larger collection of high quality assets that can potentially be pledged as collateral to lenders.

According to him: “The proposed merger is conceived with the goal of consolidating the cement producing entities of Dangote Industries Limited in Nigeria under a single entity presenting a robust platform for the enlarged DCP to optimize on available growth opportunities having regard to the present state of the Nigerian cement industry.

All these weird stories sef!!

30 nov 2009

Lagos — The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Babatunde Omotoba, will today flag off the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Enugu State.

The airport, which was closed temporarily on Saturday for repairs, will be closed to traffic by January next year and airlines that operate to the airport will start using Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, Imo State, as an alternative.

THISDAY learnt that the runway, which is 2,400 meters long, will be extended by 600 metres to make it 3000 meters or three kilometres and the width would be extended from the existing 45 metres to 60 metres.

When completed, it is expected that the runway would be wide enough to accommodate wide-body aircraft.

It is also expected that with its new status as an international airport, the airport would in future be designated for international operations.

The General Manager, Public Affairs of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Akin Olukunle, told THISDAY that the runway rehabilitation and extension contract was awarded to PW Limited and it is expected to be completed in 12 months from the day work starts on the project.

The cost of the project, which is N4.13 billion, was approved by Federal Executive Council (FEC) and would include extension and asphalting and marking of the runway.

According to him, this is part of the restructuring programme being embarked by the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN for the total rehabilitation of airport facilities in the country.

Last year, the Yar'Adua Administration upgraded the Enugu airport to international status in tandem with the new policy of having at least one international airport in every geopolitical zone of the country.
May 2010

THE Federal Government on Friday reiterated its commitment to upgrading the Akanu Ibiam Airport in Enugu.

The Minister of Aviation, Mrs Fidelia Njeze, who said this in Enugu while inspecting work on the runway, said government would declare the airport an international one in 2011.

”Akanu Ibiam Airport has not been declared an international airport, but I am giving you a firm assurance that the present administration is working toward doing that before the end of its tenure,” she said.

The minister, however, expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work being done at the airport.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, she expressed the hope that the job would be completed by October.

Njeze also said that government would review the cost of the project in order to accommodate the major challenges hindering the job. campaign money?

She announced that a befitting terminal would be built at the airport.
STOP POSTING OLD NEWS FOR US jare, next we hear money has been released for this project again, somthing that was started ages ago
