Investment › Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by DisGuy: 7:48pm On Nov 15, 2010
Like Rome, the investors’ apathy did not surface in a day. It started in 2008 during the share price meltdown that saw investors losing close to N3trillion in the market. For instance, some one like Aremo Olusegun Osoba, the former governor of Ogun State, clearly provided a face behind the figures. According to the ex-governor, the hundreds of millions of Naira he sank on stocks had all gone down the drain.

His regrets: “If I had known it would be like this, I would have stuck to my strategy of buying property. I wasn’t a stock person. I believe more in property .But I was persuaded into it and it hit me hard. You can imagine when First Bank went from N48 to N13.Then Access Bank went from N20 to N3;Transcorp from N9 to seventy something kobo.

So you can calculate how much I would have lost. It is not that I am buying one million, two million. We are talking of hundreds of millions, not tens of millions. I was buying and selling and making money until it collapsed .The whole thing crashed overnight. To make matters worse, one of the banks gave me credit to buy their shares. And when the market crashed, they sat on my money to offset the loan.”

^^ more people watch those mexican soap in lagos than watch the npl in nigeria

and apart from nta (that have very poor quality) how many stations have nationwide coverage? Ait is only available in some states

super sport has an African-wide audience so more people can watch and more companies will be involved with the sponsorship

Don't worry, INSURANCE OF BENIN IS SURELY COMING BACK TO THE NPL NEXT SEASON, with that sweet stadium and a sport loving Governor, what else can i ask for? tongue tongue tongue tongue

Yes, the monthly award is going to be accumulated until the end of the season, then everything'll be handed out at once, i think that's what the article says.
picture of the sweet stadium?

Yea i know its going to be accumulated, put it also says there will be a nationwide public vote

is it going to be Globacom player pf the month or Firstbank or Coca Cola/Lucozade - who is going to be sponsoring the awards? Supersports?

another thing I don't understand; before the start of the league, it was reported that there was an ongoing inspection of stadium facilities by 'private media outfits' who are the others since its only supersports showing the league
Sports › Re: Any F1 Buffs? by DisGuy: 3:32pm On Nov 12, 2010
lol he wants to fly na!!

this championship is Red Bull's unless they screw up big time i even foresee Vettel allowing Webber through if needed
Sports › Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 3:06pm On Nov 12, 2010
relegation candidate is better than division candidate hehehehe, keep the fire burning for insurance grin

Who will be sponsoring the Monthly awards? I think this a good idea

I think there should be proper media coverage esp on the internet for the NPL, so much so that everyone will be able to recognise player with their pictures alone
I think the best response will be for a nigerian to create a documentary on race relations in the UK and the immigrant experience.
Let Nigerians see the UK for what it is. not a land of milk and honey as is being portrayed. lol It won't stop people from going abroad but it will give people something to think about.
most nigerians don't know these things. I had never heard of the word "racism" until i left naija even though it's such a huge topic.

to me, that will be the best response.
Spot on! Lets just forget about the thugs harassing innocent traders/motorist daily and sponsor a production on race relation in the UK

Funny enough there are loads of 'immigrant stories' openly available, there have been loads of programmes about racism on their TV networks and guess what their govt response was to tackle it head on as much as they could not to side step the issue

Documentaries? NTA,AIT will rather show High Chief Dr (mrs) getting another chieftancy title than 'waste' money exposing Nigerians to racism in another country
ordinary documentaries about issues within the country has not been explored by Nigerians- desertification, Niger Delta oil spills, kidnapping, SME businesses, unemployment, skill aquisition . . . these are what most nigerian would like to know I believe
Career › Re: How Smart And Skilled Is The Nigerian Worker, Actually? by DisGuy: 12:13am On Oct 14, 2010
As smart and skilled as the companies that employ them really

The way i see it nigerian companies rarely train their staff or develop new graduates through.
seems they expect everyone with a degree and certificate to be able to do anything or do everything after three months

Maybe if companies invest more in training or putting together a through graduate programme, mid-management programmes and so on

It seems there's always someone brought from outside to join in with the latest degree going
and the working environment in many workplace is disgusting everything is politics, favouritism and FEAR!

na only observation o no experience

One would have thought, Madam Dora, Jonathan or even Fashola would have responded one way or the other to this

Is madam dora going to ask for an apology?
Is Johnie going to talk about it on his facebook page?
Is Fashola going to post pictures of the buildings he commissioned or funds he raised for security?
Sports › Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 12:02pm On Oct 13, 2010
Only in Nigeria, where someone is linked with consistent ineptitude and incompetency, where someone is being trialled for monumental corruption and mismanagement will someone like Ogunjobi be appointed as a chairman

in some other countries, every individual or cooperation will never want to be linked or associated with such persons
whether he was found guilty or not!!

The Zoo keeper should stop using militant lingo and tell us his achievement in terms of education in Bayelsa
getting a phd in monkey observation is not enough imo

Was Prof up to 87? I doubt it.

@Ileke-Idi,
How on earth, will a literate Nigerian, up to 20 years of age not know Professor Babs Fafunwa?
Should everyone know a minister by name? What if she didnt even study in Nigeria?
Health › Re: Fake Drugs In Africa - Video by DisGuy: 6:47am On Oct 11, 2010
These labs should be replicated all over the cpuntry especially in the major towns right from the seaports and airports!

Such a shame a country battling high cases of fake drugs is waiting for donors to donate TruScan instead of investing heavily in such equipment and laboratories!!
