LordAdam16:You brag a lot without being aware of underlying issues; following media rhetorics like it matters most. It's all talk. There are Jewish Russians. Israel and Russia signed a visa-free agreement 16 years ago which is still effective as at today. Both countries trade almost a billion and half dollars yearly between themselves, including vegetables. Yes, vegetables. Both Israel and Russia still maintain embassies and diplomatic rows are quickly ironed out. Israel and Russia have never been enemies. In fact, Russia helped almost 2 million Jews escape the Holocaust. Why does Israel need to bomb Russia? To impress upon you their might? You go off like these folks are enemies. They are not. Interests diverge at times but never enemies. When analysing global sociopolitics, my advice is you follow the money always. It paints a clearer picture of the true state of things. |

Theflint1: Theflint1:You stated right on this thread you were voting ethnicity/regionalism. Something something our turn, it must rotate. You literally vote the "Emi lokan" mantra in Edo State. Don't change it now. And you betrayed the best candidate on the ballot who campaigned hardest when it mattered most. If Tinubu supporters = 🌽Cornmen. You Asue supporters = 🍞 Bread boys. |
"DissTroy supported LP Presidential and voted PDP governorship..." Not everyone is like you. I have been very consistent on many things for years on and off this platform. I didn't vote any of the candidates with a hovering Godfather. I still would never. I'd rather not vote. Unlike you, I don't vote ethnicity or senatorial district or vote based on clannishness. This exchange happened on this thread. DissTroy: |
Theflint1:Are you will to bet on deactivating your account if I show on-Nairaland and off-Nairaland evidence of me opposing the candidature of the PDP governorship candidate (who is currently the Governor of my state)? Are you willing to bet the active status of your account if I show you evidence of me critiquing the former Governor Udom Emmanuel and opposing the incumbent because I'm opposed to Godfatherism? Are you willing to bet on my ability to show evidence that the LP Governorship candidate was refusing to campaign, lacked the pedigree while hoping to ride on the Peter Obi wave to power? Are you willing to bet on me showing you quoted on-Nairaland evidence of me stating the APC Governorship candidate was my second favourite because he had the pedigree (even though he was PDP until three months to the election because the PDP Primaries were skewed and influenced by the then Governor)? Are you willing to bet on my ability to show you WhatsApp screenshots of me rejecting advances to support the PDP candidacy? Do you want to read on-Nairaland posts of me assessing the current Governor while stating I didn't vote for him? I campaigned for and voted my conscience across board. And in the Presidential campaign, I and mine supported financially in our own everyday citizens' way (with screenshots which I have uploaded right on this thread and are still up). Not all of us sell our votes for Agege bread. ![]() |
DissTroy:My last quote on this forum before my protracted hiatus was appealing to you to support Olumide Akpata who was obviously the best candidate on the ballot. You vehemently refused, doubling down on your resolve to vote Asue whose principal the people had an axe to grind against. You insisted on enthroning clannishness over quality in the name of equity. Even if Obi had sacricificed himself, you were never going to vote Barr. Akpata. To top it off, Akpata had no money to throw around. Hundreds of thousands had your resolve to vote anything but him regardless of his pedigree. You brought this on you. You orchestrated Olumide's humiliation right on this thread months ago, and tens of thousands heeded your plea. Your sectional loyalty is the reason the best candidate isn't the Governor-elect today. Don't try to apportion the blame to anybody but yourself. You did this. |
Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. You sold a whole Barr. Akpata, former NBA President, for a loaf of bread? A whole Barrister? This is wrong. |
So this is what Olumide couldn't afford which made you people humiliate the brightest mind on the ballot? You dunked on him in exchange for Agege bread? Not even with beans or butter and a hot cup of beverage? Just dry bread?
|
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Forgive me, Stalin. I was just referencing. I don't want to be defenestrated. |
Ballzproblem2, here's another one. Saudi Arabia is only just considering resuming bilateral ties with Iran (Hezbollah and Hamas financiers) https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/iran-saudi-arabia-resume-bilateral-trade-as-part-of-rapprochement-/2881481 while it has very strong ties with Israel. In 2018, trade between Saudi and Iran was less than Jordan Sancho's one week wage at Man. United (and trade wasn't directly) while it's dealing in hundreds of millions of dollars with Israel. It's the same Saudi you think would support Iran-sponsored Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel? Follow the money. |
Ballzproblem2:Trading means everything. That's why most of the seeming diplomatic rows and media wars are Oscar-worthy antics. The EU still buys oil from Russia. When the Ukraine war began, it was using proxies for optics, but not so much now. Russia and the U.S. collaborate in the Artic Circle, in Straits of Alaska, and even aboard the ISS. Russia and the U.S. have protection agreements to protect oil facilities in the Middle East. The U.S. and Mexico disagree on many fundamental issues but collaborate. China and the U.S. collaborate in many areas, including in tech. Go find out where critical tech hardware come from used in Silicon Valley. -------- A few Jordanian citizens celebrating Israeli citizens being killed despite depending on Israel for water? Nigeria depends on U.S. military and financial aid but there are Nigerians on Nairaland frontpage celebrating every time there's mass shooting in the U.S., there are U.S. military exercises fails, and Okpa and his communist goons literally have a thread in the Foreign Affairs Section where they wânk to anti-U.S. propaganda... You get my drift? It's about the policies of the governments not the many perspectives of the citizenry. At the official level, these countries collaborate. You realize Russia is just a few islands alway from the U.S., and the U.S. is closer to Russia than the U.K. is closer to Ukraine or Germany, right? Yet all the cold war and threats but Russia and the U.S. have kept everything at bay. Follow the money and underplay and it'd help you understand how weighty the rhetorics are. |
Ballzproblem2:It's Egypt looking the other way. You want to dig tunnels? Go ahead so you won't say I'm supporting 'infidels' against you. You got caught? There's nothing I could and can do. Sorry, mate. These Ziônist bastards. Sorry, you hear? Meanwhile, despite the war in Gaza, Egypt monthly exports to Israel doubles. https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/egypt-exports-israel-doubled-2024-official-report . In the midst of a war where Hamas is fighting for its very survival, Egypt has intensified its trade relations with Israel. Don't let these people fóol you. Ignore all the talk and rhetoric. Follow the money and subsurface interplay. That's how you see the true picture of the Middle East. |
Ballzproblem2:No Arab or predominantly Muslim nation would overtly make moves to be seen as opposing the Palestine cause. None. It'd rather Israel be attacked than its own allegiance be exposed. Not even Saudi Arabia (Israel's strongest political and economic ally in the Middle East) would make that audacious move. The same Egypt and other Arab nations have been unwilling to take in Palestine refugees citing logistics, e.t.c. But in truth, it resents the murderous fanaticism which Hamas represents. The tunnel was discovered and bombed and sealed, and Egypt looked the other way like it was out of its power. Better Israel doing it than them. A win is a win. |
Ballzproblem2:Yet the main country known to back Hamas and sponsor it is... Well, NOT an Arab country. It's a Persian country devoted to a religious sect the rest of the Arab world do not agree with. You see the logic now? The Arab League agrees with the emancipation of Palestine, but it doesn't back Hamas. Only thing is, sometimes their interests align. Obidients and Mikano boys do not agree. But sometimes their interests align on issues. It doesn't necessarily mean the Obidients would start a GoFundMe for a Mikano cause because their interests intersect sometimes. Sometimes the interests intersecting is a necessary 'evil'. Members of the Arab League still doing business with Israel in volumes is the proof you need. That they have been sort of neutral military-wise even since October 7 is another proof. Throw into the mix that the skirmishes between Israel and Egypt at the Palestine border where some Egyptian soldiers were killed didn't escalate. |
raumdeuter:Trade flourishes between Israel and Arab States despite Gaza conflict. https://www.agbi.com/trade/2024/07/trade-israel-arab-states/ I deliberately chose a pro-Palestine and Arab publication so you realize how obvious it is. --- Forget the grandstanding by some in the media for optics, they are in bed with Israel. Hamas, Hezbollah and its Mother Hen, Iran, are the ostracized in reality within the comity of Middle East states. Israel sold helicopters worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Saudi alone. |
Ballzproblem2:In politics as with most things, follow the actions and study the antics, not the words. Israel is still getting aids (weapon and intelligence) from the Biden administration. https://www.google.com/search?q=biden+administration+spending+on+israel Biden is busy kissing the Saudi asses. And your assessment on Saudi supporting Israel is wrong,Saudi hates houthis and Iran nothing concern them with Hamas .Trump was kissing the Saudi asses too. The Saudis are willing to play ball. It makes sense to get as many allies as you can get especially in a hostile region. Saudi is influential. You need them for stability. Even Israel knows this. Hamas is an Iran puppet. Same with Hezbollah. Saudi hates Iran. Israel hates Iran. Do the set theory. |
raumdeuter:I do not like the Left. And it's not only because of what Obama did. Throw in it being the party of Wokeness and incubator of all sorts of deviancy the human mind can conjure. But regardless of what I think about them, was the Abraham Accord really scuttled? Jerusalem is still Israel's even after Trump. The countries which signed the Accord haven't jumped into the Israel vs Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran heated fray. So, technically, has the Abraham Accord been broken or are the other signatories just not being chummy publicly for optics viewed from the lenses of their support bases? |
At the DNC, pro-Israel Jews embrace Kamala Harris with her husband present. https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/2024-08-20/ty-article/.premium/at-dnc-pro-israel-jews-embrace-harris-as-pro-palestinians-gop-try-to-shift-narrative/00000191-6d2d-d8c7-a3d7-7fff1c160000 Reported by Israeli media. You better not let that woman fool you into thinking she'd tone down support for Israel if she wins. Until a few months ago when she was sure she'd be in the race, she never showed any empathy for Gaza. Now she has. Guess why? To garner minority votes and support of ultras like AOC and IIhan Omar. She's literally been giving blówjobs to a Jew and pro-Israel canvasser every night for years. |
Ballzproblem2:Most of you seem to forget Kamala Harris' husband is an actual Jew. He's been part of pro-Israel and pro-Jewish delegations. Kamala is playing to the gallery for diversity votes Another example: You really think Kamala who made a career in law enforcement believes all that Leftist "Defund the police!" mantra? She dances around that topic. Israel has the U.S.' full support, just as Saudi Arabia supports Israel taking on Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran, but it wouldn't outrightly admit to it for optics. It's about not being seen to be offending your support base so you can act like it's not in your control. Same for the Left, same for Saudi. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:According to CAC registrations, fraternities are sociocultural groups. Go figure! |
raumdeuter:That is where the Left is very tricky. Tone it down one minute, the next minute Bibi is physically appealing in the U.S. Congress. Minutes later, it is threatening the Hague for going after Bibi. Changed its stance a few weeks later, but the Hague is surprisingly no longer threatening. Who are they playing to the gallery to fôôl? Biden and Obama released seized money to Iran. Trump might not do that. Biden and Obama want to include Obama in the circle of friends, Bush and Trump already tagged them Axis of evilGiven how Iran has played its hand too open now, I doubt Obama would have given them that money. Obama is the master of finesse - the archetypal Mr. Steal Your Girl. Smooth talker and a master of words. It's about diplomacy and how weighty the words of the POTUS are. Trump isn't given to political speak and all of that flowery verbiage (partly why many find him appealing). He'd tell you how it is. If was honest enough to admit he screwed up with Libya so I assume if he knew what we know now about Iran acting out, he'd have acted differently. But his sins are still his to bear and screwed Sub-Saharan Africa over with his meddlesomeness. Asides from the mistake with paying Iran billions, Obama's Israel policy wasn't necessary different from Trump's. We can only assume how Trump might have handled the Arab Spring and Iran between 2010 and 2013. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Stop drawing false equivalence. The ANC didn't deviate. It fought a war of nationalism. Hamas is fighting a religious-cum-sectional war which muddles everything. Hamas' first claim to power was to assassinate duly elected officials (actual Palestines). Its rise to power began with a coup which rubbishes all its claims to legitimacy. And, it has premised its war against Israel as a religious war against the "Zionists", never mind that there are actual Muslim Jews residing in Israel. It's exactly like Boko Haram toppingly the Borno State Government then declaring a war on Nigeria because we are Zionists, never mind that there are Fulanis and Muslims in other parts of Nigeria who are actually Nigerians. There's no equivalence with the ANC and Hamas. The ANC supported Palestine, not Hamas. Hamas doesn't even represent the whole of Palestine. Don't take my word for it - go verify my claims. |
Ballzproblem2:If you think U.S. foreign policy completely changes depending on the party in power, then you have more to learn. Who do you think voted weapons for Ukraine and Israel? The U.S. Senate comprised of both parties. Kamala is only playing to the gallery to win diversity votes, and I understand. But if she wins, the U.S. Middle East policy wouldn't dramatically change. They'd just use middlemen. NATO is a willing tool. There isn't much difference between the Biden, Obama, and Trump administration dealing with Israel. Israel got weapons under all three POTUS. And tactically protects Israel from the Hague too. |
raumdeuter:In retrospect, this is what Obama was inferring when he stated he regretted the interference in Libya. A Gaddafi, a dictator regardless, would have halted or cushioned the incursion of ISIS into North Africa, through Niger and into West Africa. Like Assad, he would have been a necessary evil to stem the tide of the bigger evil. There's also the fact that Russia and the U.S. still operate oil facilities in Syria till date and a stable greedy dictator would at least protect that interest. plus Russia was actively supporting AssadBut ISIS isn't defeated. We've only mostly shifted our attention to Hezbollah, Israel and Hamas, while ISIS destroys with lesser media attention. Subsets of ISIS joined with subsets of Boko Haram to create ISWAP which is more loyal to ISIS and battles Boko Haram for supremacy in the North of Nigeria, Chad, and Niger axis. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Hamas isn't Palestine. Boko Haram isn't Northern Nigeria. I didn't mention Palestine or Ukraine. I was specific. Why do you support terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah? Why do you support communist propaganda? I'm just trying to understand the rationale. |
raumdeuter:No. If the U.S. really wants a regime gone, it'd be gone. U.S. foreign policy changed after the mess that became the aftermath of the fall of Benghazi. Biden is practically Obama's boy. If he wanted to, Assad would be gone. The aftermath of Gaddafi made them realize a dictator is better than regional chaos. ---- It's the same reason the coupists in Niger and others, and Rwanda's autocrat are being left alone. Better a dictator than regional instability. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Good. Now what's your justification for championing Russian and Communist propaganda, and pro-terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah? I'm not attacking you. I'm just curious. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:I am agreeing with you. North Korea produces more electricity per capita than most countries, including Nigeria, Tunisia, and many Asian and Carribean countries. In spite of the sanctions. The data rubbishes the claim that it's some 17-Century-esque place with only its capital having access to electricity. This much is published in many Western media outlets. The point is, instead of engaging in whataboutism and positing your assertions, fall back on good ol' statistics from credible sources. Facts don't lie. It'd get the person you are arguing against to softpedal certain assertions and not try to lay them as facts. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:If you are going to debate with those whose ideology oppose yours completely on issues being debated and there's palpable antagonism, lay your points with concrete facts. Not for or against North Korea, but these are the facts North Korea has a population of 27 million, and Nigeria 220 million. It produces more than 8 times per capita electricity for its citizens than Nigeria currently does. And given its population, North Korea produces more electricity than Tunisia and many countries. If you factor per capita, it is rated than some countries we rate highly. 1. https://www.worlddata.info/asia/north-korea/energy-consumption.php 2. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_production If Nigeria has made the crazy ICT advancements we've done in spite of poor power supply, imagine what North Korea has done with better per capita power supply. Facts outrank emotional arguments and assertions because facts are facts That's how to debate and state your points. It's a dictatorship and it is a powerful force. Two truths can exist without negating each other. |
donjazzet:- What would you have Obi do? Pay thugs to match the thuggery? - Lead a protest which would always take on a tribal hue? - Ask the youth to take their country back through a revolution which would be interpreted as regime toppling and treason? - Bribe the downtrodden to free themselves of their chains? - Appoint State Electoral Commission and INEC members? - Forcefully resign Appeal and Supreme Court judges? - What would he do without actual elective power? - Same country where a sitting Governor of Rivers State is being threatened by those close to the Presidency and nothing is happening? - Where same Governor has been emasculated because he knows higher powers have overrun the architecture of the state he purportedly governs? Didn't Atiku who is supposedly not a coward protest? What did it amount to? My own vote for Obi hasn't counted till date. My lady's didn't too. We voted and he won our pulling units but only the returning officers' signatures were uploaded to the IREV. What exactly could Obi have done to convince a people who ensured the brightest candidate on the ballot two days ago lost his freaking polling unit in exchange for peanuts from candidates with lesser integrity? Pray tell, what should Obi do specifically? |
In the lead-up to the 2023 elections, people asked Frank Edoho and Mark Essien on Twitter and Facebook respectively to run for office because they are "intelligent young people with brilliant ideas". Both replied (and I paraphrase their replies): " No. See what you people did to Banky W who is also intelligent, young and different. You want to disgrace me. You will leave me hanging at the polls and not stand by your words." Olumide Akpata, the best and most forward-thinking candidate on the ballot on Saturday with the least baggage and who was most likely to play by the book, learnt this lesson the hard way. Another reference point for Messrs Edoho and Essien defending not foraying into elective politics. You humiliated one of the brightest minds in the country last Saturday for #5,000/#10,000 and measures of rice because he couldn't match the pockets of those who looted our common patrimony. |
