And why is that?

I know of family member who did introductions of getting the in-laws to meet and that still did not affect her K1 visa approval.

In fact, it gave the relationship a boost by convicing the visa officer that the relationship was genuine.

i also had introduction but my fiancee was present. why i said that is to avoid the idea by the consular that it was an arranged event. Those guys can be crazy sometimes. It can also work in her favour if she is able to explain the reason for his absence and that no dowry was paid

Sometimes, no questions may be asked. it all depends on God and the mood of the consular officer

We dnt have pictures at different location... I only have 4 pictures with him when he came to my church before we did the introduction.

The introduction I did, he was not around, it is only his family that came... He was not present.
We only put his photograph on the chair beside me

first off, you don't even need an introduction to do a K1. The absence of your fiance will lead to more questions. Take pictures of both of you as well as family and friends if you have. Take a lot of chats and calls, his travel itinerary when he came to naija, the stamp in his passport and the data page. Try as much as possible not to mention anything about the intro

can one pay for visa without getting a case number from NVC?

if yes, what then is the purpose of the case number?

or at what stage of the visa journey does one use it?

yes you can because you can use your WAC number to fill the DS-160 but it is not advisable to as it portrays desperation.

The case number indicates your case is at the embassy in a file

@djfrancis please I will like to know the time you scheduled for your interview. Was it 7am? Also how long did it take for you to be done with the whole interview process? An hour? Two hours? When did you finish? 9am? 10am? Or did it take the whole day?

Yes, my interview was 7am. I wasn’t done till around 12 noon. My interview lasted like 5 minutes tho. But there were other immigrant applicants there as well. Just prepare to wait.

Gurus in the house, can you confirm the above news about the U.s embassy shutting down indefinitely due to government shut down?

It only shut down a section called the American centers. U.S. Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos remain open for for all consular business, including visa interviews. Please attend your regularly scheduled interview.

Did my medicals today. Will update you guys how it went here:

I chose to use Qlife because they were the only ones that replied me when I sent enquiry mails to the two hospitals. I got there around 6:45am, wrote my name with the Security Guard (very important) and then went back to my car.

At some minutes past 8am, they then called us in.

Please make sure you take a 4 by 3 passport photographs (5 copies), it's way smaller than the conventional 2 by 2 passport stipulated by the US Embassy. Also go with your appointment letter and the email printout from NVC that has your Case Number. Also you will need your international passport, 2 photocopies of your data page, immunization records (if you have) and of course, your ATM card.

You will undergo X-ray to screen for tuberculosis, your blood will be drawn to test for syphilis, you will be vaccinated with IPV, MMR and TT, those will protect you from polio, mumps, rubella, tetanus, etc. Your blood pressure, weight and height (BMI) will be measured. The Doctor will then examine you after taking your medical history. Your urine sample will also be taken.

It took me a little over 2 hours. I was done around 10:30am or thereabout

It's quite an extensive procedure and the result comes out in 2 weeks time, I'm told.

I guess this should help someone out there.

bro, nobody told me to write my name down with the security guard. i just parked and and walked in straight.

Hello everyone, here is my question. I applied for UK visit visa last year but to prove national ties, i said i was married with two kids, and presented a marriage certificate which wasn't real. The application was denied for account reasons.
But now, I met and have been dating a US citizen for 10 months now. Infact she has visited me in nigeria once. But my worries are; will the US embassy contact the British embassy and eventually come across the marriage certificate i presented to the uk embassy then?.

Do they share biographic data?.I have never applied at the us embassy before and never truely been married.

Should I tell them i was married and divorced or come out fresh?

Thanks and God bless us all.
.

There is no need to reveal that to avoid more troubles as long as you were denied for the UK application. The police records the US consulate needs is for those who have stayed in a foreign country for more than six months

@ LegitBachelor, djfrancis & sharpman1,

When creating the account on www.ustraveldocs.com/ng did you encounter any log-in problems?

Also, what option did you choose when asked - applying for a Nonimmigrant or Immigrant visa?

Thanks!

I didn't encounter any problems. Choose immigrant visa

They are not giving visas anymore. But some people will still go and donate money.
Just observe the trends if you want a visa, when they start issuing again, apply. Or if you must travel for vacation, there are several countries that even the US wish they were. There was a time Trump mentioned that he wanted more norwegians to come to the US and I read chats that followed the news and most Norwegians were commenting that what the hell will they be going to the US for. To people from Norway, US is to them like Nigeria is to the US. read this: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-shithole-countries-norway-immigration-american-emigrants-scandinavia-a8159441.html

Lol. This your explanation get k leg. So how do you know when to observe trend and apply again? I hope you realize that even if your trend analysis works for a certain month, you can't get appointment dates for that same month.

The interview will be at least three months after the trend based on the present non availability of appointment dates and maybe the will start the 'rejection' process all over again. grin grin

Trends don't work in that embassy. Kpokom

I just finished my interview not quite long and this is my transcript below, at 12:15pm, Lagos consultate
V.O: Good Morning
Me: Good Afternoon
V.O: Passport plz
Me: (I handed my passport over to him)
V.O: Where are you going in U.S?
Me: New York, I'm going to New York for my annual end of the year leave
V.O: You will be staying in an hotel?
Me: Yes, I will be staying at xxxx hotel in Jamaica, Queens New York
V.O: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me: Yes, I've been to China, Thailand and Qatar. China on program, Thailand on Tourism and Qatar too
V.O: Flips through my passport randomly(He was going through my old passport instead of new one that has the recent visas)
V.O: What do you went for in China?
Me: I went for my Chinese language advance speaker course and training from work
V.O: What do you do for a living?
Me: I work as Human Resources Manager and Chinese~English language interpreter
V.O: How long have you been on it?
Me: I've been on It for about 3years
V.O: Are you married?
Me: Yes, I'm married with a kid
V.O: type, type, type, handed me blue paper, said some stuffs but I didnt hear anything at that point

Nlder's, What went wrong? Where did I miss it? What are your suggestions, When is best time to re apply? What should be done before re applying?. Thanks

The truth is nobody here can tell you what you missed, only the VOs. We can only advise what we think, in our own personal opinion, what is best for you.

1. Try not to over answer questions. Let them ask before you reply. I don't know but did the Vo ask where you are going to and what you are going to do? Likewise your travel history, from your transcript she didn't ask what you went to do in those countries apart from China.

2. We should be careful with the replies to questions. The use of unsure words like about, almost, I think etc (there are a lot) at an interview shows the person isn't sure of the answer thereby casting doubts in the VOs mind.

Like I said, we don't have the solution only opinion. Try again after 6 months (not like there are available appointment dates sef) but make sure you prepare well and prayer for favour.

Hello All,
Pls has anyone successfully called for and retrieved his/her passport from the US embassy?
Submitted via Dropbox since October 31st for my daughter and all the update I see when I check is application received.
We need to travel to another country urgently and I have sent mails repeatedly to LagosNIV but got no response for over a week now, I’m at my wits end. Any leads will be appreciated.

We are kind of in the same boat. Mine is immigrant visa tho and I was approved but same status and they keep saying check email and ceac site. The best thing is to just calm down.
Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening Pt 2 by djfrancis: 1:34pm On Nov 27, 2018
Hello LagosNIV

I know this is not the right section for immigrants visas but there isn't anyone available at the moment and I was hoping you could help as the K1 visa has both immigrant and non immigrant features.

I had my interview on the 8th of November and it was approved but the CEAC website is still showing application received while travel doc is no longer showing any document delivery location. I also tried to track my passport, but it says no status can be found concerning the passport.

What do you think I can do now to know the status of my application. I and my fiancee are very worried over this incident as even though there have been various holidays in between, it has been over 10 business days. My passport number is A Kindly assist. Thanks
