ALWAYS READ THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS IN YOUR CHOSEN INSTITUTION AND COURSE. Most UK, Australia and European universities request for IELTS while USA universities require TOEFL and GRE. NOT ALL TOP UNIVERSITIES REQUIRE IELTS, TOEFL AND GRE. IMPERIAL COLLEGE, UK RANKED FIFTH IN THE WORLD ACCEPT WAEC ENGLISH C4. LIKE I SAID, ALWAYS READ THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS IN YOUR CHOSEN INSTITUTION AND COURSE AND BOLDLY ASK THEM TO ACCEPT WAEC OR NECO ENGLISH. THEY MIGHT CONSIDER. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY IN WRITING THOSE EXAMS AS IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE WHEN THERE IS ALTERNATIVE. IF YOU HAVE 2.1 OR FIRST CLASS, YOU SHOULD GET ADMISSION IN ANY TOP 100 SCHOOLS IN THE WORLD IF YOU APPLY EARLY. IF YOU HAVE 2.2, IT MIGHT BE HARD TO GET ADMISSION IN TOP SCHOOLS AS THEY USUALLY REQUIRE 2.1 AND FIRST CLASS. HENCE, YOU CAN APPLY TO MEDIUMLY RANKED SCHOOL TO BE SAFE. HOWEVER, IN SOME COURSES, YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED IN TOP SCHOOLS. It is easier to gain admission in the UK compared to other developed world university and almost all MSc programme run for a year. Application for admission in most schools is free unlike most Canadian and US schools which require you to pay. Finally, you can always defer your admission in any school. ADDITION INFORMATION ON PTDF ON EXAMS (PREVIOUS EXAM) It is objective computer based consisting of two parts. Part A is compulsory for all candidates. It should be noted that there was negative marking in Part A. Part B attracts higher mark than A and there was no negative marking. ON ADMISSION PTDF does not help you for admission. Seek admission early by yourself. PTDF successful list came out late last time and it will be hard to gain admission then. If you don’t get admission, the scholarship will be deferred to next year. Try to gain admission in at least the top 100 schools in the world. You will be highly respected everywhere you go locally and internationally and your certificate renowned. Moreover, employers that come on campus mostly target top schools. It will be a shame to attend a lowly ranked cheap school just to avoid writing IELTS, GRE or TOEFL since PTDF will pay based on your school tuition quotation. It is generally accepted that most people who go there are self-sponsored because it is cheap or were rejected in the top schools as they didn’t meet the requirement. |
Arsene Wenger has put Watford striker Odion Ighalo on his transfer hit-list. Arsenal boss Wenger will look to bring in a new forward at the end of this campaign and the Gunners are keeping close tabs on 26-year-old Ighalo. They have also got Borussia Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on their short-list but the German club have slapped a £60million price-tag on the newly-crowned African Football of the Year's head. The Gabon international was on Arsenal’s radar last summer but his impressive season has seen his value go through the roof, so they will also face a lot of competition for him. Ighalo is a good fit because he is still fairly young, has scored goals in the Premier League and would not be as expensive as Aubameyang. Arsenal’s only first-team signing in January is likely to be Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny for £5m but they are still keen on Leicester’s 19-year-old Ben Chilwell, although Liverpool are also interested. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-eye-transfer-watfords-odion-7141835 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3391141/Arsenal-weigh-Watford-forward-Odion-Ighalo-club-step-striker-search.html |

A group of Kenyan Muslims travelling on a bus ambushed by Islamist gunmen protected Christian passengers by refusing to be split into groups, according to eyewitnesses. They told the militants "to kill them together or leave them alone", a local governor told Kenyan media. At least two people were killed in the attack, near the north-eastern village of El Wak on the Somali border. The Somali based al-Shabab group is the main suspect for the attack. It has not said if it was responsible, but often carries out attacks in Kenya's north-east. The bus was travelling from the capital Nairobi to the town of Mandera. When al-Shabab killed 148 people in an attack on Garissa University College in April, the militants reportedly singled out Christians and shot them, while freeing many Muslims. An attack last year in Mandera, in which Christians were killed after being separated from Muslims, caused the departure of more than 2,000 teachers, as well as many health workers who had come from other parts of the country. An employee of the Makkah bus company, who had spoken to the driver involved in the attack, confirmed to the BBC that Muslims had refused to be separated from their fellow Christian passengers. One of the victims was shot dead after trying to run away from the militants after passengers had been forced off the bus, the same employee told the BBC's Bashkas Jugsodaay in Nairobi. Al-Shabab has been at war with Kenya ever since Kenyan forces entered Somalia in October 2011 in an effort to crush the militants. Kenya's north-eastern region has a large population of ethnic Somalis. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-35151967 cc: Seun, lalasticlala, mukina2 |
If I were to apply, Ghana will be my choice. You can easily come back to Nigeria when it is not safe. With the high value of british pounds sterling that will be received and considerable low cost of living in Ghana, I will be able to save a lot of money which can be more than a million naira when I come back. Choose only competent schools with no strike record. You might even want to apply to a high class private university that does Masters for a year as your full tuition fees will be paid. You might want to ask commonwealth if you are can apply there. Most Public Africa and Asia universities spend more than one year and you wouldn't want to waste time. |
