This is not the first from the NCC and Dstv, and it wont be the last. Its an act of desperation and it wont lead anywhere. They might as well arrest a million or more nigerian .
I will not bother with the legality of the arrest coz I know nigeria is a country without legal structure. Rather I'll focus on NCC&DSTV desperate action.
Arresting this ppol is wrong and neither will it solve the problem. 5 nigerian arrested with the hope they will spill their guts. So lets say they do..... will they now go arrest the direct importer of the decoders, lets say they also do that.... is there any law in Nigeria banning the importation of FTA decorder...... Ofcourse there isn't, the dealer are not in charge of what the final consumer does with the purchased product, what if I buy my own and what I did with it is to smash it on the ground.
Its the final consumer that determine the use of the product. The import only import a legal good, the installer installs a legal good..... its the consumer that is doing the wrong thing . And the root cause of the consumer action is the inflated price of dstv. So DSTV should do the right thing and NCC should stop acting like paid tout who dont realise that their arrest is non and void in the court of law due to no warrant of arrest and no warrant to enter into their shop. Their case will only stand if they actually cut this person on the road or public place doing the illegality.

Go to public bars/hotel they now use Qsat to send signals to rooms. obviously, a Qsat interface is different from Dstv. now its being widely used and abused. truth is qsat is Fta, but since it has been used to accessed dstv pay channels, its illegal.
When i wanted to get my qsat, it was sold secretly, the last time i was in alaba, it was being carried around, and guys even approach you to get a decoder that can watch dstv channels for free.
Is this right?

No one is in supprt of the blunt display of illegal activities, we are just analysing why qsat has gone viral. And it all due to the expensive nature of dstv. Your arguement shouldn't be about the ease of getting qsat. It should be about the wrong use of the decoder. The decorder is legal. The sale is legal.... the use is also legal as long as its restricted to FTA.
Without an activated account, u cant view dstv. So its not the purchase of the decorder but the purchase of the account. And that's something that will be difficult to stop...... cos the transaction are never done eye to eye. So the ball is dstv court. .... reduce the price, offer better services, let ppol choose and pay for channels they only watch, start pay per view option instead of this monthly nonsense. ... and then just maybe ppol might stop the purchase of qsat and likes of them.

Having read everbody comment about the easy availability of queen. First I must say, any product that's good will surely sell irrespective of how secretive you are about it.
2) By natural law or economics, ppol will always go for cheap product that can offer excellent services.
3) Queen is not illegal. Its a decoder that is used to view FTA station and that is ABSOLUTELY LEGAL, whats illegal is the use to view paytv. Now thats is up to the dealers amd thats why transactions are not done in the open.
Will ds** react? YES!!! infact they have started reacting, with the 2 new companies coning into the market and qsat given hell. I read in the papers that after the WORLD CUP, they are planning to announce reduction in the price of their packages.
What is the solution:
The only solution for Ds** is to drastically reduce the prices of their packages, offer top notch services and not this repeat of movies they do. Over pay per view services or allow ppol to pick the stations they intend to watch and pay for it.
Without that.... am sorry, its a lost battle for Ds**, Azkey may be dead, they might beat qsat but their will always be a new decoder to fight. And upgrading is expensive even for Ds**
And Yes @davidoguy, its Hacking..... But hacking has always existed. It will always exist and the only way to beat piracy is to make it NON-PROFITABLE!!!

Get any modem from any I.T related shop. ... just make sure its not a modem that require using a C.D to install it.
First connect the modem to ur PC and install it. Go to the setting of the modem interface and ensure its on 3G.
Pick up ur modem and connect it to the USB port at the back of the decoder.
Go to the network config area on the decoder and select 3G network from that place u select GPRS.
Next click on config and select Auto connect.
Your modem shoukd attempt to connect. And if all other things are equal.... you should start enjoying ur Queen.

If u r able to get a "network connection success" message and still see invalid . Then it means any of the following:
1) that there is no internet data bundle or cash on ur sim
2) that the network is unstable and therefore unable to connect to the server.
3) that your avartacam may have expired (this highly unlikely as most qsat is not up to 1 yr)

So it mostly a problem with ur connectivity..... check ur sim, or check config and see if u have a network connection success

Yes it does. Mine has being doing the same, am using eti.... my airtel is not even connecting at all.
