Lennycool:Still not making any meaningful point. So the ratio of the brain size of the animal to its body size now indicates intelligence? How intelligent are you and how intelligent is a dog? By what yardstick did you classify the dog as not smart as you are? How did you know that some animals have sex with opposite gender just for pleasure? Edited: And how can you be sure that the acts you see between dogs are homosexual, since they are not as smart as you are? |
sonmvayina:"A virgin shall conceive and bear a Son..." Does that sound familiar? You need to read more. |
achorladey:Your question is vague at best. Please present it more clearly. Thank you. |
Lennycool:This post is devoid of any meaningful point. 1. Who told you that you're smarter than a dog? 2. If you think a dog is not as smart as you are, why do you describe the act seen among dogs as homosexual? |
Lennycool:A dog is not as intelligent as you are? Really? Is this not pride? I thought that atheism eschews human pride and dissociation from lower animals? If a dog is not as intelligent as you are, why do you think the acts among them which you identify as homosexual are really homosexual? |
Lennycool:What is proper consent? And what consent from a dog would be considered proper? Why would two consenting organisms (a woman and her dog) not have sex, if two consenting men are to have sex? |
Somebody said that homosexuality is not a disorder but loving and sleeping with animals is. ![]() Very rational. |
jonbellion:You have made no point. That is beside the fact that you made some hasty generalizations, and also committed some logical fallacies which any rational mind would quickly denounce. |
CANTICLES:A is still a father to C, okay? It doesn't matter whether it is grand or great grand. Those are just adjectives. He is still a father to C! Edited: We normally use the word "fathers" to mean our ancestors. It simply means they were all fathers to us: whether grand or great grand. Do you have any more reasonable questions? |
CANTICLES:This is simple logic: A is a Father to B, and B is a Father to C. Therefore A is a Father to C. Take time and study all my posts on this thread before you ask your next question, because I'm very sure you didn't read my posts. |
CANTICLES:Can you point out any place where I explicitly said that GOD the Father is not the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? GOD the Father is the GOD of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Therefore, GOD the Father is the GOD of those three. |
CANTICLES:Yes. |
I'll end by saying that no one has seen the Father at any time, nor heard His voice. That glorious experience of seeing the Father face to face is left for those who are pure in heart.(Matt. 5:8 ) Setting the eyes upon the eternal Father, the One whose Glory is indescribable, whose majesty and splendour we cannot even begin to imagine, is the prize of those who have kept themselves holy.(Heb. 12:14). I'll stop here to entertain your mature, reasonable, and peaceful questions. ![]() |
Splinz:Oh thank you brother. I'm so encouraged by your words. ![]() |
Could anything be more clear? It was the One who became Jesus Christ who literally walked and talked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He was the One who dealt directly with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He was the One who spoke "face to face" with Moses (Numbers 12:8 ). He was the One who spoke the Ten Commandments from the top of Mount Sinai! |
We have seen, Jesus said that "no one" had ever seen "God"— obviously meaning the One we call the Father. Yet right after giving the Ten Commandments and some of the statutes to ancient Israel, we find that the "God of Israel" did indeed appear to some of Israel's leaders! "Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank" (Exodus 24:9–11). So more than 70 of the leaders of Israel "saw the God of Israel." Yet GOD is described as invisible in verses like 1 Tim. 1:17 and Col. 1:15. |
After the Eternal had explained to Abraham His intent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their perverted sins, Abraham asked, "Shall not theJudge of all the earth do right?" (v. 25). Here Abraham was certainly dealing with the One who became Jesus Christ! For Christ Himself revealed later, "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son" (John 5:22). Abraham was certainly not dealing with God the Father. For the inspired Word also tells us, "No one has seen God at any time" (John 1:18). |
And now notice Genesis 1:26, "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.'" Note that God said, "LetUs make man in Our image." So the Father and the Logos or "Word"— who later was born as Jesus of Nazareth—were both included here. Acting for the One we call God the "Father," the One who became Jesus Christ was used by the Father from the beginning in dealing with mankind. We see this also in Genesis 18. Here the Logos appeared to Abraham. He did not appear in His full glory in dealing with Abraham, Moses and others, but more in human form—yet apparently with a "difference" so that Abraham recognized that he was dealing with the "Lord" (vv. 3, 27). |
Note that in verse 8 above, Christ is addressed, "O God." He is described as the One who "made the worlds" (v. 2) and who "laid the foundation of the earth" (v. 10). There is absolutely no indication that any of these verses written by Paul or by John were "poetic" or metaphorical! They simply state the fact that the Personality who became Jesus Christ was "in the beginning" with the Father, that He was the "Word" or Spokesman for the Father and that all things were directly created through Him, Jesus Christ! How did all this come about? Turning to Genesis 1:1, we read, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." All scholars know that the Hebrew word here translated God is "Elohim," a plural noun— like church or family—as would signify one family with several members. |
In several scriptures the inspired Apostle Paul makes the same point. In Colossians 1:15–16, Paul speaks of Jesus Christ: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." And the book of Hebrews tells us that God, "has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds" (Hebrews 1:2). And again, "But to the Son He says: 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom'" (v. 8 ). And finally, "You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands" (v. 10). |
Jesus Christ made His identity very clear —sometimes even to His physical detriment! In John 8 Jesus said He knew Abraham (verse 56). Since Abraham had lived and died nearly 2,000 years before, this statement offended the Jews Jesus was talking to. They considered it blasphemy that a mere man (as they viewed Him) “not yet fifty years old” had the audacity to claim He had known their patriarch Abraham (verse 57). But Jesus’ response was even more shocking to them: “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (verse 58). Yes, Jesus Christ claimed that He predated Abraham. But, in saying this, Jesus also gave a not-so-subtle clue about His identity that wasn’t lost on the angry Jews who surrounded Him. He referred to Himself as “I AM.” This was actually a divine title of God! When God had appeared to Moses from the burning bush, God had identified Himself as “I AM WHO I AM” and “I AM” (Exodus 3:14). |
Jesus Christ's Preexistence "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made" (John 1:1–3). The Word was essentially the Being who served as the Spokesman in the GOD Family. He has always been responsible for communicating the will of the Father to human beings during the OT and the NT. The Father has never directly spoken with any human being. |
Having understood the above, we may now look into the Bible to see what it has to say on the identity of the GOD of the OT: whether He is GOD the Father or Jesus Christ(GOD the Son). We know that it was this GOD who spoke to Abraham and Moses, who descended on Sinai and spoke the 10 Commandments. "No one has seen GOD at any time." Jn. 1:18 This statement appears contradictory, right? Well, Jesus agrees: "And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form" Jn. 5:37 These two verses teach us an important truth: The Father has not directly spoken to or been seen by any human being at anytime. However, GOD worked directly with human beings in the OT.(See Gen. 2:16-17; 6:13-14; 12:1; 17:1; Exod. 3:4-6; 33:11; 22-23; Numb. 12:6-8; Deut. 4:33; Jer. 1:4-10.) We see that a divine Being dealt directly with people, but according to Jesus, this divine Being could not have been the Father. |
The Bible should be the only creed of the Christian. And as such, in matters concerning doctrine, the Christian knows that there are only two sides: the wrong teaching and the biblical teaching. Another important fact is the harmony of the entire books of the Bible. We know that no part of the Bible contradicts another, "for GOD is not the author of confusion, but of peace..." 1 Cor. 14:33. Therefore, a Christian understands that: 1. The Bible is totally in harmony, and is devoid of any form of contradiction. 2. Perceived contradictions in the Bible will be cleared up if the Bible is diligently studied with the help of the Holy Spirit. 3. It is grossly wrong to base a doctrine on just a verse of the Bible, and that the entire books of the Bible must be consulted to find out their harmonious opinion on a matter, before conclusion can be drawn. 4. If a verse of the Bible appears to contradict a host of other which are in harmony on an issue, a better understanding of that verse must be sought. |
One of the most debated topics in Christendom is the identity of the GOD of the Old Testament. This is understandably so because many doctrines are built on one perception of His identity, while others are built on another. Indeed, it can be said that the issue of the identity of the GOD of the Old Testament is a major bone of contention among the many denominations in Christendom. Some say that the GOD of the OT is GOD the Father, while others say He is Jesus Christ. Which one is correct? We turn to the Bible to tell us. Indeed, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Tim. 3:16 A proper and correct understanding of the identity of the GOD of the OT will revolutionize the way many Christians view and understand the teachings of the Bible. It would also serve to clear up some of the perceived controversial issues in the Bible. |
Uncletbuddy, Good evening. Please follow this link to find 100% biblical expositions on the issue of hell-fire. Thank you. |
hopefulLandlord:I have read my Bible, and it told me to "do unto men that which I would have them do to me." Don't mention me again if you have no quality, tangible, informed argument to present. |
hopefulLandlord:I put it to you then that the society is evil since it doesn't want me to satisfy my desires(which don't harm anybody). Does HIV harm someone or not? Why does the society not ban people from having sex with HIV+ people? Why did you assume that master-slave relationship can harm me? Stop running around circles, okay? |
hopefulLandlord:It's your opinion because it seems that to you, "you may buy slaves" means "you must own a slave. I have commanded so!" |
hopefulLandlord:You are yet to address the fact that I may sincerely want to be owned as a property. I think it's very important that GOD used the word "may" when talking about buying slaves. It becomes more presumptuous to say that GOD is in support of slavery when we realize that we never really know the conditions that facilitated master-slave relationships then. |
hopefulLandlord:Your opinion. And it changes nothing. |
hopefulLandlord:According to the society: sex between two consenting adults(whether married or not) is moral. However, master-slave relationship between two consenting individuals is immoral and illegal? The society is biased, then, and as such, is not fit to make laws that govern human living/relationships. |
