I'm sure that as you are saying this, you may be clutching a bottle of beer. Hypocrites! Nigerians are the highest consumer of all commodities in Africa. We complain of hunger, but yet anything that hits the market, we take it all. We buy all the cars.all the designer labels, all the choicest drinks that even the white man can't afford. Even an okada rider has all the modern electronic gadgets in his house. If he throws a party, he will roll out all the red wine that you will see in Italy. Nigeria has a vast arable land for farming. Anybody who is hungry is lazy. And such people abound all over the world.

So can we criticize this insensitive government for the whole nonsensical conference? what is this jamboree all about? The best way to promote peace is to first of all ensure peace in your own country through justice, transparency, genuine democracy and the rule of law.We all know that the conference is for one person's ego boosting (Patience Jonathan) and also a process of further impoverishment of the country and its people through such unwarrented extravagant and fraudlent purchases. Just wait AND SEE HOW MUCH ORANGE JUICE and other drinks, CHICKEN, CAKES AND WILL FLOW AND HOW MUCH HOTEL BILL THE NIGERIAN TAX PAYER WILL FOOT. You don't have to be TB Joshua to know that this will be, worthless women babble and display of the latest liposuction and facelift by middleaged overfed women and just another wasteful insolence for the wretched country, Nigeria. Now we are all complaining but when Pastor Bakare talks we castigate him. This government and the nation in entirety is a failed state. Mark my words, we are yet to see more.
you are the one who has failed. In fact, you have failed very woefully. If at your age, you are still talking like a kid then you re a big failure. Your failure is evident in your inability to differentiate between real governance issues and a pet project. Your failure is also evident in your ignorance about when this summits actually started. This is not the first time that this summit is holding. Other countries had at one time or the other hosted this summit. Don't those other countries have challenges facing them when they hosted it? Or you belong to that school of thought which believes that every other aspect of governance must be halted because defeated presidential candidates have told their kinsmen to be suicide bombers. You are such a failure for ignoring all the remarkable achievements of this govt and chose to deride Nigeria for hosting first ladies of Africa. All the looting of previous administrations has not killed you, it is this summit of some days that will bankrupt Nigeria abi? If Nigeria doesn't host them, who? Somalia? Idiots!

Demdem: There was conflicting information by last night on whether the cars were bought outright or hired, and no government official was ready to speak with our correspondents on the record for this story.

When Daily Trust contacted spokesman for Coscharis Motors, Mr. Ifeanyi Nihe, by telephone on Monday, he said the company had supplied vehicles to the Federal Government but refused to state the number and cost.

“I am not in the position to give out the real value of the transaction,” he said.

When asked which government agency was handling the transaction, Nihe said, “Our company is still talking with some officials of the government. I don’t know whether it is the First Lady’s office or not.”

Nihe also could not confirm to Daily Trust whether the cars were sold or leased out to the government for the event.

http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/other-sections/lead-stories/172646-fg-buys-200-cars-for-first-ladies-summit

The bottom line here is there is a transaction between coscharis and the FG. That is a fact. Whether the govt bought the cars or leased the car is immaterial because either side it will cost the govt significant amounts and thats where the issue is. A govt that is truly in the business of cutting cost wont even think about this at all for a waste called first ladies conference when effective and cost friendly alternatives that are also presentable are available. Infact, if Innosun was called upon to supply the vehicles i wont be this against it because i believe the money will still go to the economy but not the German economy.
You are such a big ignoramus. If there's any thread that runs thru the report above, it is the thread of inconsistency. The source doesn't know whether it was bought or not yet you have a screaming headline that 200 cars were purchased. Isn't that the height of contradiction? Can you just leave hatred and listen to yourself. What does it always profit you guys to distribute sensational lies against this govt? If you check very well, you may even notice that such transaction is totally non existent. I ran thru major papers today and didn't come across such story. Such a news item as controversial as it is wouldn't have escaped notice by other newspapers.

That report looks very hollow. It couldn't identify the units, nor basis for the transaction, whether lease, hire, or sum.
It will shock you that when the event finally kicks off, the ladies may not even be conveyed in BMW cars

dedeike: I can see that while I was busy at work, a lot of rubbish has been trending on this thread.
What problem do these low minds have with this application in court? What is difficult to understand in this case? A person cannot be ELECTED into the office of president for more than two terms. The question then is, has Jonathan been elected to the office of President twice? The answer is obviously no.
So why the hair splitting over an obvious statement of fact that he would exceed 8 years in office? For clarity, Jonathan will stay 10 years in office. 2 years as acting President and 8 years as ELECTED president which the constitution permits.
Anybody who is not comfortable with this should proceed to Cameron.

dedeike:
Our problem is that we keep failing to place culpability where culpability lies in this new peculiar security challenge. Imagine a situation where a 15 year old kid carried out the suicide bombing in the central mosque yesterday at Borno. What could they have told that boy that would warrant him to take his life at that age? Imagine the indoctrination that the young boy would have been subjected by these mischief makers. Someone somewhere told the boy lies about Islam.

it is the duty of the Islamic clerics and monarchs to tell their subjects that Islam is a religion of peace and does not support the spilling of innocent blood. Have we ever wondered why we don't hear about this rubbish in more advanced and populous states like UAE and Indonesia. Dubai is a choice destination for tourism and trade. Yet it is a muslim state. No body goes to bomb tourists in the name of religion. We must reorientate these People. And the job is for northern leaders and Muslim clerics. Not Jonathan who is an "infidel" to them.

Unless you think GEJ to be a supernatural deity, I don't know how you expect him to safeguard a people who are intent on killing themselves and killing other people in the process.
Somebody told this boy to kill himself not minding the pains of missing family and friends. JTF wouldn't have stopped him. Soldiers wouldn't have ever contemplated the small little boy who just passed dorning a brocade and heading for jumat prayers is on a suicide mission.

The president can only fund security, restructure the security hierarchy when necessary, review our security infrastructure periodically, deploy JTF to the streets, beef up intelligence gathering thru SSS and arrest their kingpins. But theres little or nothing they can do in stopping someone who has resolved to die for what someone convinced him of. The danger in always attacking GEJ after every attack is that we avoid cautioning the imams and leaders who have the capacity to reorientate these people. And gradually, they have turned their targets inwards against their own. While GEJ is still president and presiding over the rest of Nigeria.

CAC link issue? Are you sure you have your head on right?

um . . . if you cannot read, please speak up. The link is from premium-times. It says so right there for you to read. At least just click to read, not jump to attack first and then use your head later.

um .. . I didn't ask you to regurgitate information that is available on the CAC website.

You definitely don't know how to read. All you have done is produce what I term "USELESS INFORMATION", and what this does is make it clear to me that you don't even take time to read what it is you are responding to. Even worse you typed up all the trash above without addressing the very questions asked you . . . Here again . .

If you cannot respond appropriately, spare us the tripe . . spare us the useless lectures . . .
. grin grin grin grin When people are caught pants down. This is exactly how they react.

They resort to name calling and mudslinging. grin it's not hard to see through the antics of paid agents. They can't stand hard facts.

You have been flaunting links and pontificating over this thread about how you are convinced that ICE ENERGY is owned by AIG IMOUKEHEDE. U no let us hear word. CAC,CAC, CAC!

Some other members asked you to exercise caution in believing the source. But you persisted in your grandstanding, flaunting links as evidence in support of your lies.

I reminded you that there are a lot of inconsistencies in the report which makes it unbelieavable. Furthermore you maintained that the document emanated from CAC and asked your gullible followers to visit CAC WEBSITE. As if the search can be assessed thereby. You sounded so sure until I told the world the processes involved in accessing such information from CAC.

Faced with the reality that your cookie has crumbled, you went back to rely on the same PREMIUM TIMES link which others have repeatedly told you are unreliable.

How do you expect any sane mind on this forum to take you seriously when you make all these somersaults in one single thread.

Kobojunkie:

Really? And can you please elaborate on why you think that if the document had come from the CAC, the listings would be in alphabetical order and in order of the respective dates? I know you suggest there that you doubt that the CAC would store their data in a rancorous state but I want to be sure what you mean here. undecided undecided undecided undecided

I am really interested in why you seem so sure of this. Because even the entries in the National Budget download documents are not listed in alphabetical order, or any in particular order. I know this because I have been working on mining that data for the past couple of weeks. And this xteristic seems to apply to all the other documents I have been able to download from various agencies down in Nigeria. If only they did create standard documents, I would been spared a lot of headache but that wasn't the case. So I am really curious

Also, have you even seen the CAC website(s) at all?? undecided undecided undecided
Every practicing lawyer on this thread will laugh seriously on the ignorance that you have so seriously depicted on the CAC link issue.

For your information, online search on CAC website is not an all comers affair. You are a very big liar to claim that you accessed the search thru the above links.

First, you must approach the CAC and pay the neccassry fees for search. Then you fill the requisite forms and you must furnish your accreditation details as a lawyer.
You will also be in possession of the company's RC NUMBERS.

So unless you re a magician, I don't know how else you would have managed to verify your own search this night.

WHY MUST YOU ENGAGE IN BLACKMAIL JUST TO GET AT A MAN WHO DEFEATED YOUR PAYMASTER AT THE POLLS? WHY?
Politics / Re: GEJ Condemned For Appointing Aig-imoukhuede To Subsidy Verification Panel by Dollarman101: 8:50pm On Jul 09, 2012
Actually, I took the pains to browse thru the link. That PDF file is not from CAC directly. That is a premium times version of a search on oil companies that took part in oil subsidy. What i dont know is whether it was doctored or not. But I know it's not directly sourced from CAC. if it were CAC, the names of the companies would have appeared in alphabetical order. It will also be in accordance of their respective dates of incorporation. I doubt if CAC Files will be stored in this rancorous state. A company registered in 2010 precedes one registered in 2002 and then followed by another in 07. I doubt.

dedeike: common keep quiet. What do you know about governance and politics?
Much to your shock, GEJ will still win re election in 2015. And no matter the level of propaganda you and KOBOJUNKIE will deploy cannot do a anything about it.
The transformation agenda is on course. Reforms are ongoing in every sector. The finance ministry is carrying out bio metric evaluation of federal civil servants to reduce waste. There is the new integrated online payment system which helps the minister monitor transfer of public funds. Our foreign reserves have risen again to 37 billion dollars. There's the proposed Soveriegn Wealth Fund to cater for excess oil sale proceeds.
In Energy, a lot of reforms. The president is keen on transparency and thus has set up probes into the sector viz KPMG AUDIT and AIG IMOUKHEDE. The president sought to close the window of corruption by removing subsidy but the cabal misled Labour into a protest. That notwithstanding, the reforms are still ongoing and the full deregulation of the downstream sector being vigorously pursued. Last week, the FG had concluded the PIB which remains a landmark legislation that will revolutionarize the petroleum industry. Refineries are undergoing repairs and an American company, VULCAN is to build six more new refineries.

In roads, Zaria-Funtua-Gusau roads, Oshodi-Apapa with expansion and drainage works, dedicated bridge frm liverpool roundabout to Tin can ports, trailer park, Dualisation of Ibadan -Ilorin, ENUGU-Onitsha, completion of OWERRI -Onitsha, 9th mile, ongoing reconstruction of Benin-Ore-Sagamu highway measuring over 265 km, Kano-Maidugri Dualisation. Keffi -Akwanga-Lafia, award of Afikpo-Okigwe, Auchi-Okene being handled by Setraco. Loko-Eweta-Karishi bridge, Kolo-Nembe -Brass to mention but a few.

In Transport, massive reforms at the ports. Sanitisation and reduction of operating agencies to 7. Introduction of 24 hrs ports operation. Ongoing Construction of light gauge train railways across t4 cardinal point of the federation

In Aviation, massive reconstruction of major airports in the land, Enugu airport is undergoing total rehabilitation. The domestic wing of Abuja airport is also being reconstructed with expansion of roads and car parks. Same fr the international wing and the kano airports

In Education, establishment of 9 new federal universities in less than 1 year. Constructed 2 new campuses of the Nigerian law schools in Yenagoa and Yola respectively. Launched the Almajiri schools for education of itenerant Islamic pupils in the north wFhich Buhari and other northern leaders abandoned. Increased funding to almost 400 billion to education thereby setting an all time highest record. Reinvigorated the inspectorate oversight of schools leading to the revocation of some licenses from universities. Executed the landmark upgrade of university lecturers retirement age from 65 to 70.

In agriculture, for the first time in our history, we have a clearly defined agricultural policy which is targeted towards maximum utilisation of cassava for growth thru the launch of the cassava bread campaign. The policy is intended to reduce our reliance on imported wheat so as to encourage local production of cassava and it's conversion to flour for bakery. The FG has in less than one year eliminated the middlemen cartel that fed fat on fertiliser distribution at the expense of local farmers. Now through deregulation reforms, fertiliser is now accessible in the open market. he has also embarked on massive construction of silos and has increased import duties on the importation of rice in order to encourage local farmers. The efforts of the minister has been so appreciable that the world bank assisted with over 50 billion Naira for fertiliser redistribution scheme/ silos. The CBN has also set up a 500 billion loan scheme which is to assist farmers.

Like the president said during his last media chat, people like You who have found a business in criticizing him should continue while he concentrates on his ongoing reforms. That when most of his reforms I.e power sector reforms, civil service reforms, Energy reforms etc are thru, they will have a rethink.
Abeg make you add to your list. The refurbishing of 9 power stations under the National Integrated power projects(NIPP). Construction of mambilla and utorogu gas plant. Dis people whey dey run their mouth for here no Sabi anything.

Always quick to attack the FG. The minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, only hinted on the security challenge they're facing from Libya. He did not say that after such knowledge, they have folded their hands to watch the mass transit of arms from Libya to Nigeria. I don't know why we read things upside down. I know as of a fact that our Northern borders have been tightened. Though not full proof, but something substantial has been done in this regard. The FG set up a Joint Task force boarder unit and a military base at our Northern boarders around Maidugri. They engage these terrorists emigrants in gun battles frequently. The boarder camps harbour all law enforcement agencies including representatives of customs and immigrations. The area is a beehive of warfare If you don't know anything about a particular subject matter, the best thing is to keep quiet. One must not always criticize govt for the sake of gaining cheap popularity on Nairaland

When were the 6 refs established?
Is signing an "mou to build" same as establishing?
The process of establishing a refinery begins with the signing of MOU. An MOU is not just a mere document. It's a legal document binding on all parties that executed it. It could be enforced in a competent court of law, so when you hear an MOU Is signed, don't trivialize it. we must appreciate governments efforts in this regard. This govt is actually working hard in our petroleum sector. Last week Monday, we got news of SPDC's resolve to build a gas plant in IMO to facilitate FG's plans on gas supply to power stations. On Tuesday, there was a major restructuring in the managerial level of NNPC. On Friday, news came that the Senator Udoma committee empowered by the Petroluem Minister to formulate a new comprehensive PIB has submitted their report and Diezani forwarded it to FEC. In addition, the AIG Imoukede led panel submitted it's report on NNPC to govt and President assured that all those indicted wil be brought to book.

See critics. "Fg is doing this, Fg is doing that" if you have your way, you will go and bomb the place so that nothing will commence. But the truth is that the reforms are maturing and there's nothing haters can do about it. If you had paid attention to the president's speech on Sunday without watching with malice, you would hve known that this project is coming. It is simple reasoning. He said his govt is working seriously to improve on power and has Increased the tariffs to attract the oil companies to invest in gas for the power stations. Stop hating. Embrace transformation.

rhymz: As for those people arguing blindly if he declared his asset to the CCB, I hope we go here word now with this newspaper report.
EMMANUEL ONANI AND ROTIMI FADEYI 11/06/2011 02:03:00 President Goodluck Jonathan Even with the recently passed Freedom of Information Act, the Code of Conduct Bureau is still refusing to release details in the Asset Declaration Form of President Goodluck Jonathan. Following Saturday Mirror’s enquiry, the CCB yesterday, only disclosed that President Jonathan declared his assets one week before his inauguration on May 29 in line with the law establishing the bureau. The law requires public office holders to declare their assets and liabilities before assuming office and at the end of their tenure. A highly placed source in the CCB, who craved anonymity said, “A week before the President was sworn-in, two of his aides came here twice to make enquiries on the procedure required to declare his assets. He took enough time to fill the forms and returned same before swearing-in.” When asked why the president did not do a public declaration like he did after the late President Umaru Yar’Adua made his public in 2007, the source said, “The Constitution did not compel a public official to declare openly, neither did it stop them from doing so confidentially. It is a matter of choice.” Reminded that the FoI Act requires that a government agency should release information demanded by Nigerians, he replied, “Notwithstanding the FoI Act, the Bureau cannot give out any such information, until the National Assembly makes a law in that regard.” In 2007 the then Vice President Jonathan’s declared total assets at the CCB was put at N295, 304, 420. A breakdown of the assets showed that Jonathan’s private buildings are worth N67, 990,000. These included a fourbedroom duplex in Kpansia, Yenagoa, valued at N15m, a four-flat storey extension of the family house in Yenagoa valued at N10m and a four-flat storey building at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Council, which was bombed days before his inauguration as VP valued at N18m. There was also a fivebedroom personal residence in Gwarinpa, Abuja, worth N24.99m. Jonathan was said to have declared total assets of N41.8m under the vehicles and household items. They included a BMW car valued at N15m, generators, electronics, air conditioners, furniture, kitchen utensils and others in Kpansia, Yenagoa, Otuoke, and Gwarimpa all valued at N26m. The BMW was declared as a gift while the other items were said to be gifts or procured from savings. He also declared some vacant and undeveloped plots as worth N60.538m. They included five undeveloped plots of land in Bayelsa, two undeveloped plots of land in Cadastral Zone BO2 and AO6 in Abuja. He also declared that N62, 072, 200m was from income yielding investments in addition to four 16-seater passenger boats for hiring by companies and other agencies while N58.984m was declared as total cash in bank.
please don't play into the hands of these Boko Haram agents on Nairaland. They know he declared his assets but they are making all these noise in order to extract relevant info that will aid their attacks. They are hypocrites. Any one desirous to make use of it for legitimate reasons should take steps to approach the CCB.

how many times do we need to tell you that Gej did declare his assets according to law in a prescribed form deposited with the CCB. Every public official did before being sworn in by a Judge. The question bothered on open declaration of assets. To this Gej responded he will not do. If you look at the transcript that you have so much flaunted in this debate. It reads: We should not play into the hands of people(by OPENLY declaring our assets). Maybe in the course of the reply, Gej had continuously referred to declaration alone without adding the word open but you should situate it in proper context. He has his assets declaration deposited with CCB both the old one and new ones are there. Go there and verify. It doesn't need to be made public for security reasons. I would also want to add that this constitutional provision applies to both Governors and tihe president, so why are you so much interested in GEJ's alone? why not mount the same level of desperation for Governor Fashola's assets to be made public? Why are you so hypocritical over this?

I enjoyed it. The president made much sense. He didn't cancel his trip to Brasil so as not to play into the hands of those terrorists. Courageous stuff!

That order wil be vacated. In law, there's no place for a court to issue a restraining order to prevent another arm of Govt from performing its constitutional role. This matter is already before the senate. The president forwarded it as an amendment Bill. So the court cannot prevent a legislation in process.

The president was on point when he declared his govt cannot negotiate with faceless terrorists. He equally cleared the air on his Brasilian trip. Haters should go and hug transformer grin grin grin

That's my president talking." the era of you must know somebody to get something has to stop" and that's why the YOUWIN SCHEME was contracted to independent consultants to handle and applications made online. It's not even a loan, it's a grant. And if you didn't benefit in this first round, you will benefit in the next.
