Why not create a regional police? I do agree that state police is susceptible to abuse but I think regional police will provide a better solution.

Without restructuring a collapse is inevitable as the system is flawed.

Substation in free air on fire? That's a sign of an overloaded substation, which is even more bizarre as it looks like it's a primary substation.

Irrespective of where you stand politically, labelling all fulani herdsmen terrorist is a bit unfair and unhelpful. Yes, Nigerian does have a problem with significant sections of fulani herdsmen but not all.

What I do agree with is that Buhari appears to be taking a tribalisitc soft touch approach toward his fellow tribesmen.

Never say never. People said the same about the Japanese automakers when they started and look at them today. Also look at how a young tesla is changing the auto industry. Nigerians all need to support innoson doing business in this country is very hard and he should be applauded for even taking the initiative especially in a field like manufacturing. Mind you Nigeria has no viable steel industry.

Apparently, his cars are much more expensive than the foreign ones. That tells me two things, most of the part are sourced abroad and tue poor infrastructure in Nigeria is working against him.

The only way to support him is to do what Japanese did by becoming a closed market for a while and raising imports duty to astronomical levels.

Their vehicles are expensive more than imported, Nigerians are not patronising them.
There's no way he can compete with a foreign automaker as business practices in Nigeria are too inefficient.
He's got to battle bad electricity, transport, infrastructure, foreign exchange (expensive foreign parts) etc.

NO CHANCE!

This is not right IMO. LAGOS is not kogi. What's the economic benefits of this move? I wonder how this politicians reason sometimes.

I remember Telegraph publishing a news about how tube strike cost london £500 million per day.

I won't be surprise if lagos lose a tenth of that over two days.

Looool. Whatever happens in Nigeria has little or no effect on my future from a financial point of view. Sadly, all the resources wasted by politicians are potential profits from investments, that could have employed millions of Nigerians and subsequently the standards of living.

Anyways, all the best cry

I dont get why Xi is so powerful .... I dont see what's so special about him compared to his predecessors ... if anything he is standing on a mountain built by the hard work of others since Deng .... The Chinese would be stupid to turn him into a reform era Mao ... and it would be completely undeserved - at least Mao earned his position - this guy is mostly an inheritor.

It seems that ultimately countries return to type and China prefers to have a somewhat figurehead, somewhat executive leader at the head of a bureaucracy ... rather than an oligarchy operated through the structures of representative democracy, as the West seem to prefer.

How she found herself in a position to secure an oil block is the more interesting story.

Lord lugard secured the future of his empire, same thing the black man cant do.

lord lugard on the black man
"Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural. He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future"
What a scathing observations. Unfortunately some of his views still holds true till today.

I am into engineering and I do not subscribe to the assumptions that your average villager has a 5kva load. The biggest generator you will see in the village is 850 value I pass my neighbour. I don't know where you are getting these delusions that villagers are well heeled energy hogs with disposable income.

Go and read up on the village of lissa in Ogun state. That's where Bell view airlines crashed. There were a lot of reports after of the grinding poverty in the area.

That is a village, not the hamlet of your imagination

You might be into engineering but you don't sound like it (at least for electrical engineering). Firstly, where have i said the average villager use 5kva, even lagos doesn't have an ADMD of 5KVA? Your fellow nl member have done some basic deductions per each domestic, so i suggest you read it again and stop arguing on what you have no idea about. Anyways, good luck.

It is not about proximity. What do you think the average income is in those places?

So you think 10% of that total household cannot boast of a basic domestic amenity? I feel uneasy btw having to explain why 85kW isn't appropriate for a 400+ properties. In a community of that size at least one or two house will have commercial electrical equipment like machine to grind pepper etc.

Simply ridiculous assumption if you are into physcis or engineering. The voltage drop (even with 300mm LV cable)will definitely be more than 20%, which is another loss on the network. You also need to consider the fact, in worsening sunlight conditions, the ability to deliver current is dramatically reduced (even though the open-circuit terminal voltage are normally constant at nominal voltage)

They are villagers;their energy requirements are not significant. Basic lighting is all
I would imagine the villages in Ogun state to be a bit different from other villages in Nigeria due to its close proximity to Lagos. I am pretty sure some of the villagers will have some basic amenities like fridge, iron, TV etc. Therefore, in order for it to work you need to restrict each user to 2 x bulb lighting which is a bit unrealistic and pointless.

Nnamaka1:

85kwP for 487 households means each house can only get an average of 174 watts of electric power. Enough to power a 32inch led TV , 1 ceiling fan , led bulbs, mobile fone charging.

I wonder how many billions they quoted for this project.
The voltage drop will be immense and it's simply not economical either way. Anyways, a good practice is to design your network for diversified load. Unless you're going to limit each house usages by installing smaller cut out than the typical 100A cut out, all it takes is some few houses to switch on fridges and Ac and then you'll be in trouble.

buffalowings:

Just researched wella
1MW will supply between 400 and 600 homes
So how does 1MW equals 85kW?.

It depends on the consumption rates of the 400 properties.
Irrespective of the consumption rate the load is ridiculous for 400 odd properties.

85MW is the kind of power i would expect a Nigerian governor to celebrate as it can successfully supply 10s of thousands of properties.
