Wtf is going on in Nigeria. For the life of me, It is unthinkable that in a country of nearly two hundred million that cattle and cattle rearing should be the president’s number one priority. when the economy, unemployment, poor health facilities, education infrastructure are all in their worst states. In retrospect, the president attitude to the massacre in Benue marked the end of any little favourable views i had about Buhari. Secondly, it's pathetic that a state governor is having to beg in order to seek protection for his people. For what it's worth, the whole situation has shown that national police force in it's present form can never work in a multicultural country like Nigeria as it's susceptible to federal abuse. Historically, state abuse are generally more manageable with water tight/black and white laws. State police formations will be more penetrative and wide spread as well as more community-friendly, relative to the President puppet organisation you call police force. 138 Likes 10 Shares |
Religion / Re: Animals That Feel Pains Of Birth, Did They Eat The Forbidden Apple Too? by Dollyak(f): 3:01pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
I don't take that story literally. However, I think the story make an interesting keen observation about human birth (something I can't be bothered to discuss on this thread). Anyways, what I would say is that painful birth is an exception, not the rule, among the animal community. Humans do have an especially laborious and intense birth process due to the relative size of the human head to the birth canal. Most animals do not have such a "tight fit", and although some species do indeed have a somewhat painful birth experience, most do not have nearly as hard a time of it as humans do. This is not meant in any way to suggest that the Christian logic as to why we have painful births is correct, but the question is operating on a slightly misinformed basis. Religion is a personal thing, so each to their own. 1 Like |

omonnakoda:Absolutely agree with this post. Like you said, the recent surge is more an indication of the stock's price bottoming out after the massive selloff. Understandably, I can understand why some folks are very quick to credit the present government. A lot of posters on this thread are either being disingenuous or ignorant. 1 Like |

Religion / Re: Churches And Mosques To Pay Tax In Lagos; Land Use Charge To Be Reviewed by Dollyak(f): 12:09pm On Dec 29, 2017 |
FOLYKAZE:Considering income tax from donations constitutes the largest percentage of church income, I find it disingenuous of you to lump it together with business sales. Lagos state wants to tax both income and sales tax which is wrong IMO. |
Religion / Re: Churches And Mosques To Pay Tax In Lagos; Land Use Charge To Be Reviewed by Dollyak(f): 12:00pm On Dec 29, 2017 |
FOLYKAZE:This is incorrect. In UK, Churches and mosques (including other registered charities)are not required to pay tax on donations. As a matter of fact, you can claim an extra 25p for every £1 a tax payer give to the church or mosque. The whole point is to avoid double taxation as was rightly mentioned by another poster. A better solution is to do what UK does by forcing the churches and mosques to be transparent with their incomes. |

You don't have to be a Muslim to see that this is a legitimate protest. Defending an adoption of western culture i.e Lawyers wig, rope and dressings, while criticizing an Islamic dress is a master piece of hypocrisy. 23 Likes 5 Shares |

One thing that often strikes me is the extent to which we over-rate our own importance. Perhaps only the cosmologists and theoretical physicists come close to truly comprehending what an insignificant blip on the space-time continuum we actually are. In spacial terms - we inhabit a tiny planet with a volume of 3 x 10 ^ −60 of the universe or 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000003%. In terms of time - we have been here for perhaps 200,000 years or 0.0014% of the history of the universe. The 200 years since the industrial revolution (the period taken for us to **** the planet up) is only 0.0000014%. That is like the last 30 seconds at the end of a 70 year lifetime. At the other end of the scale we have the religious fundamentalists who believe the whole universe was created for the benefit of humans. On that basis, they want to shorten the age of the universe by a factor of one or two million (and consequently the linear size by something similar). Unbelievable arrogance!!! 3 Likes |
Religion / Re: Human, What Does It Mean To Be A Human In The 21st Century by Dollyak(f): 8:53pm On Oct 21, 2017 |
We are often told that the shooting of a lion was wrong, but the slaughter of billions of chickens over the past 40 or 50 years is OK as they were bred to be slaughtered. Its this kind of thinking we are dealing with. As humans, we have bred what was a normal bird, into something with breasts so heavy and wings so small, it can no longer fly. It is now a Frankenstein bird, which serves no other purpose that to feed the burgeoning masses. This to me, is a far worse crime the killing of a one off lion. The domestication and selective breeding of animals is probably the first major effect humans have had on earth. The implication of this should not be underestimated and may have a bigger effect on the earth than for instance, the industrial revolution. But what do I know I guess, I'm a member of the masses. 3 Likes |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Catalan Referendum In Spain: Riot Police Fire Rubber Bullets At Crowd by Dollyak(f): 7:40pm On Oct 01, 2017 |
Yes, everybody knows it has "no binding authority", but truth is the Catalonian parliament -with only the independentists present, and against their own rules and the Spanish laws- approved a law a few weeks ago, according to which they must declare Catalonia's independence if the "yes" won the illegal referendum. Oh! and as members of the Catalan government publicly declared just 48 hours ago, it would be absolutely illegal if they didn't follow their own laws and declared the independence on Tuesday. So yes, everybody knows it has no binding authority except the people who have prepared it, and the "laws" they have written for that. That said, Rajoy is the biggest idiot on earth. The independentists wanted the pictures of the police acting and now they have them. Bravo! 1 Like |
