The Yoruba tradition is that normally, no one can claim the right to the throne or crown through their maternal lineage. There are some exceptional cases though, but it rarely happens.

He's Ooni because his own father preserved the lineage for him. A good man thinks & plans for future generations. Not writing off his wife anyway. Who says she can't 'produce' a prince again?

you are confusing Yoruba culture with the western one or maybe the midwestern/northern one.

In Yorubaland, there is no rule which says a king must have, or be succeeded by a son. It can happen but it is not set in stone. Rather, the kingship is rotated among different royal families as you have seen here.

The king's daughter actually is the one who holds a very critical position, in the southwest.

Actually now immediate son doesn't inherit the throne any longer but another family that belongs to the royal household with inherit the throne...

Example of those In Lagos are the aromire family, kosoko family, akinolu family etc...

So. That every family can get a feel of it and that's the reason the immediate eldest son of the late Ooni didn't get to the throne by default unlike the past

I know what you were trying to pen down in your initial post. You just did not put it right.
Actually, his lack of male child means the throne has moved away from his own lineage for ever. A male child means, the throne might still come back to his lineage, in the 10 or more generations. It is a maybe tho.
The chance is very slim as most Yoruba thrones has many ruling houses who are entitled to the throne, and these ruling houses have couple of different royal families/lineage within them. Which keeps growing by the day.

The Ooni next throne ain't going to his son...

So what's the fuss

It's not like his son will inherit the throne...

But an entirely new royal family will take over in his demise....

Long live the king by the way wink

Entirely new royal family?
So royal families spring up every now and then. Thats a news.
His son might not inherit the throne but he needs to preserve the throne for his lineage.

Dollypatron

Firstly, ur a baby christian, because God didn't say believe of have faith in God for you to get answrrs to prayers...he said believe and believe WHAT? That you have your petion...hence the statement, "let it be unto you as thou has believe" that was to the blind beggars..where ever in the bible did you see or hear jesus say according to MY faith or the disciples faith be it unto u...hoep u catch my drift? So u see u that's is a christian that owns faith don't use or understand it, but an atheist like branson, we tell about his success based on his believeing(unciouss practice of faith)...but u don't gerrit.

Pls its not at this junction pls find the correct word and pls do have yourself a good day, wheather I have a brain or not you decide

Your problem is that you don't put things into perspective.
And this particular post is incoherent.
Shallom.

dollypartron, i wish you would make use of your own brain

did i exonerate the doctors from my post? No
i only claimed that doctors even with all their knowledge are overwelmed by workings of a higer power most times......

The thing is this, everything cannot and should not be spiritualised. I do not doubt the power of prayer or faith. I have been and I am still experiencing the power of prayers. Sometimes we have to step back and analyze the situation. In this case the doctors failed woefully by the look of the things read in the original post.
A doctor can be overwhelmed and it is very normal. The issue is, did they do all their possible best? No. If they did all they could, and the patient later died, then we can hook it on God.

cant u make an intelligent argument and not resort to abusive words? have you heard of the greatest neurosurgon in the world? let me give you the benefit of the doubt and say you have, now neurosugery is the hardest form of surgery, why? because your dealing with 80% water(in the brain), now this man has various times said he has received guidance in the most hopless of these operations which he knew he could do nothing about....and didnt mince words but has clearly stated that in those situations its God that has guided him....
funny part is prior to some of these operations,he would refuse operating because he would refer to such cases as hopless, but the relatives of such victims will insist that God has told them to come to him that he will do a succesful ops through this surgeon. (at this jucture if u can use your brain ull see that its FAITH at work)
I am not insulting you. Just stating as it is. But I can see you have reciprocated the supposed insult.

I know so well about Ben Carson. I follow his story and activities religiously.
The difference between Ben Carson and the doctors of St. Nicholas Hospital is that Ben Carson will leave no stone unturned while dealing with a difficult case. He would do all the best he can while relying on God to do the rest.
At this junction if you still have your brain intact, you should remember a bible passage that says "Faith without work, is dead". It's just like a student who after receiving a prophesy that he would graduate with a first class, decided not to study or work hard in school. Such student cannot get a first class, with faith or no faith. Cos God does not condone laziness or slacking. The doctors of St. Nicholas Hospital slacked in this case.

i wont really blame you especially if you cliam to be a christan, you must be a baby christian, change your church too....the church i attend dead people are prayed for not by the pastor but by the congration and the dead are brought back to life.(one major rule of life is simply faith on the word of God, finish)

what more an ailment?

I am a Christian and by all standards I am not a baby Christian. I am a Christian who knows every issues should not be spiritualised. In this particular case, you have failed to analyse the suitation properly.
Jesus raised the dead. Yea. And he has promised us Christians that we will do greater works than he did. Yea.
But you should realize that these couple were not looking for miracles. They had faith in the Hospital and the hospital failed them. It is a different case if they took him to the Church for prayers.

using your brain very well youll see that even aethists like richard branson(virgin) can attest to the power of faith, and the list is endless

Don't get it twisted, when an atheist is talking about faith, he is in no way referring to God. An Atheist believes in science.

YOU DIDNT UNDERSTAND ME. I AM MORE CONCERN ABOUT HER EMOTIONAL WELL BEING THAN WHAT HAS REALLY HAPPENED BECAUSE SHE MIGHT INJURE HERSELF EMOTIONALLY AND MANIFEST ON HER HEALTH. NO ONE PRAY FOR LOVED ONE TO DIE PREMATURELY DUE TO CARELESSNESS AND NEGLECT BUT ALSO KNOW THAT IN NIGERIA, SHE MIGHT NOT GET ANY SINGLE THING FROM THE HOSPITAL DUE TO THE NATURE OF OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM. THAT'S WHY I SAID SHE SHOULD MOVE ON UNLESS SHE CAN INJURE HER SELF.

You have no right to tell her to move on.
She has her family and friends for that. And she has her lawyers for the legal advice.

Firstly..RIP to the dead.

Secondly .the man was a high risk patient hence the doctors were right to be cautious about medications.

Thirdly.. All the steps taken were medically in order

..even if he anesthesiologist wasnt needed till the man was critical. the radiologist wasn't needed until the necessary resuscitation was being done .

It's a very unfortunate situation.. But its giving the dog a bad name to hang it.. Nigeria is bad for all of us..imagine calling the anesthesiologist by 9pm and he leaves home immediately but because of traffic he arrives late then you blame him 'chai doctors don suffer sha..
I swear Nigerians are damn ungrateful ..Doctors are the very few coping with the poor system.

Well it's because she's well to do
No I disagree.
None of the steps taken were in medical order.
You don't discharge a patient in that particular state home. The best they should have done is keep him in the hospital or send him to another hospital if they had no bed space.
No diagnosis was made on him. So what were they hoping to treat.
No lab test was done. Considering that he is post kidney transplant, the first thing should have been a blood chemistry test at least. An abdominal USG if available.

A junior doctor should have a senior doctor hanging around, just incase things get hairy. That case was beyond that guy.
Shït!!! They did nothing. They killed the man.

sad....but doctors are humans too you know?

some doctors have been looking for fruit of the womb to no avail...

On this plane called planet earth the only thing bankable upon is the WORD of God aka Jesus. thats the only dependable source of deliverance from pain, terror , death etc

Ok this is the most ridiculous shït I have read this week.
Couple of doctors who are charged with the responsibility of saving lives, failed woefully in discharging their duties, and you turn around to hook it on God as having the final say.
Y'all Nigerian Christians need to take moment and use your brains. Sometimes, it is just common sense, no need for any divine revelation or something

very silly thing to write.
A doctor at the end of the day should be able to say I did all I could do. That is the core of the Hippocratic oath taken .
In this case, the hospital did little or nothing.
The wife should sue the hospital.
