He could be telling the truth. I know of someone that lost a job opportunity because he's a Muslim. Right there at the interview he was asked which church he attends. He told them he's not a Christian and the interviewers immediately told him that they don't want anything to do with Muslims in their company and his services won't be needed. He pointed to them that his CV has his Muslim name, they told him they felt he was a Muslim that converted to Christianity but kept his Muslim name. He was already discouraged by the whole settings of the company (one man business) so he wasn't going to take the job anyways. Some one-man businesses give lots of ridiculous criteria for employment, one would think they treat their staff right for meeting up with all the criteria.

Childcare and home making are FULL TIME JOBS and more draining than most jobs or business, there's no foolishness in being a full time mum. When I was still doing office work, my rest times were at work. Once I'm home, no time to rest for me especially during weekends and holidays. I had to quit because it was taking a toll on the kids and I didn't have any househelp.

If a wife and mother has to hustle and work at the same level as a man, the home and kids will be compromised. The kids will either have to be taken care of by nannies or put up with neighbours. If something happens to those kids, who gets the chunk of the blame? Yup the mother! The same society shaming her and calling her useless for being jobless will be the ones to shame her for going out to make money. They will say, what money is she looking for that she cannot tend to her kids, why give birth to kids if you're not available to take care of them bla bla bla. Can you see that the average Nigeria woman cannot win regardless the decision she chooses for herself?

Sadly a lot of women relax after marriage and become complacent. They believe they have financial security especially after having kids.

One of the biggest disservice a woman can do to herself is being 100% dependent on a man, especially one that has zero respect for her. In this woman's case now, she has been married for almost 4 decades to a man with six kids. I'm sure in all those 39 years, he must have constantly cheated on her but she kept consoling herself that as long as they're outside and she's the recognized wife, she's ok. Now she has been thrown out of the home she has kept for almost 4 decades, where does she start from?
