Strange fire on Wednesday razed down Olorunda local government secretariat located in Igbona, Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

Though the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, eyewitness account however said that smoke was observed from the top floor of the two-storey building around 7pm by some passers-by.

“But before long, the entire secretariat was engulfed and we all watched as fire razed down the building”, a shop owner near the secretariat told our correspondent.

A staff of the local government, who preferred not to be named, said the fire may have started from the office of the chairman.

A helicopter of the Nigerian Air Force deployed for attack in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents has gone missing in action, with fears that the aircraft had crashed at a yet-to-be-ascertained location.

The NAF confirmed the missing aircraft in a release around 10.30pm on Wednesday, noting that the helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Team on Tuesday appointed Mrs Aisha Buhari, the Wife of the President, to lead women and youths as well as ensure the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the February general elections.

Aisha is to be supported by the Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, and other prominent women, youths, artists, politicians, businessmen and women, serving and retired top public officers, among others.

The appointment is contained in a statement issued by Mr Suleiman Haruna, the Director of Information to Wife of the President, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Abia State Police have arrested a 19-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor's daughter identified as Kamsy, to death at their neighborhood situated along Port Harcourt road in Aba, Abia State on Monday, December 24th.

The suspect had taken the little girl identified as Kamsy on a stroll in their neighborhood. There he stabbed the little girl twice on her stomach. The child later died of her injuries in the hospital.

The suspect was immediately apprehended by residents of the area and codeine was allegedly found in his pocket after a search was conducted on him.

US Hospitals Will Have To Post Prices Online Starting January 1. A new rule that will be going into effect January 1, 2019, will require hospitals in the US to post a list of their standard prices online and make electronic medical records more readily available to patients.

The new rule which is called the Inpatient Prospective Payment System rule is part of a Medicare program aimed at pricing transparency in the healthcare system.

In March, the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Seema Verma said the new requirement for online prices reflects the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to encourage patients to become better-educated decision makers in their own care.

“We are just beginning on price transparency,” said Verma. “We know that hospitals have this information and we’re asking them to post what they have online.”

The Presidency said on Sunday that President Muhammadu Buhari had drawn the curtains on the signing of bills for the Fourth Alteration to the 1999 Constitution. This The Punch reports.

It noted that any bills not signed till date must have lapsed, adding that Buhari would have also communicated same to the National Assembly.

Popular Nigerian philanthropist Williams Uchemba is a scammer. This is according to an expository post made by a US-based activist Edafe Okporo.

The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, RFAN, and the Fertilisers Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria have made a donation of N1.7bn towards the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The farmers made the donation during a gala night organized by beneficiaries of the government’s Anchor Borrowers Programme, which held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday night.

A 26-year-old assistant pastor, identified as Justice Nonso Njigbo was brutally murdered inside his church in Anambra state.

The Anambra State Police Command has launched manhunt for the killers of a young pastor in Okpoko area of Onitsha.

Spokesperson for the police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident said that a complaint at Okpoko division stated that on the December 18, at about 4am, three unknown men scaled the fence of Christ Holy church located at No 30 Orumba Street Okpoko and forcefully entered the room of the Assistant Pastor and inflicted a deep cut on his forehead, shot and injured him on the left thigh and made away with phones of the occupants. The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday ordered the joint committee on police and judiciary to investigate the rearrest of activist and founder of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju by the police.

Adeyanju’s rearrest was mentioned on the floor of the Senate by Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West senatorial district, where the activist hails from.

He said, “Deji Adeyanju is a pro-democracy activist. He has been arrested twice by the Nigerian police for organising protests in the defence of democracy.

“This activist was arrested again by the Police, for a matter that took place 18 years ago. The judgement has been given. Deji Adeyanju and two others have been discharged and acquitted by the court.
