The Police has dismissed from service Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan, the officer who fired the shot that killed Kolade Johnson, at a football viewing center in Lagos last Sunday March 31st.

The suspected killers Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan and Sgt Godwin Orji attached to Anti Cultism Squad were paraded before newsmen today.

While speaking to the press, Olalekan said that Kolade was in a gathering of suspected cultists when the incident happened

The suspect in the fatal shooting of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was captured Tuesday afternoon just hours after the Los Angeles police chief stared into a bank of TV news cameras and asked the alleged killer to give up.
The suspect, Eric Holder, 29, was arrested in the L.A. suburb of Bellflower after police spotted him there and detained him without incident, officials said.

Police used surveillance video and social media posts by witnesses to help identify the 29-year-old Holder as the alleged gunman who shot Hussle and two other men on Sunday afternoon in front of the rapper's clothing store in south Los Angeles.

Prior to his arrest, Moore described Holder as "a man who is a substantial risk to public safety and willing to use violence."

Moore said that while Holder is believed to be in a gang and that Hussle was also involved in gangs as a youngster growing up in Los Angeles, the slaying stemmed more from a personal dispute between the two men.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha.
The meeting is holding in the president’s office at the State House presidential villa, Abuja.

Mr Okorocha, who is the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors forum, is currently under suspension by the governing party.

He fell out with the leadership of the APC after the party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, accused him of trying to impose his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, as his successor.

French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed his Senegalese-born media advisor as government spokeswoman, one of three new faces for his cabinet as it gears up for the European Parliament elections next month.

Sibeth Ndiaye, a 39-year-old born in Dakar, only obtained French citizenship in 2016 while working as a media advisor for Macron’s presidential campaign.

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) on Sunday said it would crush over 2,500 commercial motorcycles impounded by the agency between January and March 2019.

Adebayo Taofiq, the agency’s spokesperson, said in a statement that the motorcycles were seized for plying on restricted routes in the state.

The Lagos State government enacted a traffic law in 2012 which, among other things, outlawed the operation of commercial motorcyclists on major roads and highways across the state. The law allows the motorcyclists to only operate along inner roads and streets.

Recently, the Lagos task force officials impounded 109 commercial motorcycles for operating on restricted routes at the Second Rainbow end of the Oshodi-Apapa express-way.

We can authoritatively report that President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In a report by News Agency of Nigeria, the meeting between the president and the CAN leadership was held behind closed doors at the Council Chamber of the State House.

Party protesters, who were supporters of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party were dispersed on Friday with tear gas by a team of police operatives.

Attorneys for Jussie Smollett said Tuesday that all criminal charges against the "Empire" actor and singer have been dropped.
Smollett had been charged with falsifying a police report by claiming he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.

The judge also granted a motion to seal the case, according to CBS Chicago.

"Today all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him," Smollett's attorneys said in a statement. "Jussie was attacked by two people he was unable to identify. He was a victim. He was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public causing an inappropriate rush to judgment.

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday shut its case of false and non-declaration of charges preferred against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The prosecution led by Mr. Aliyu Umar (SAN), although had proposed to call six witnesses to prove its case against the defendant, it closed its case after calling three of them.

Umar announced his decision to close the prosecution’s case after the third witness, Ifeoma Okeagbue, an official of Standard Chartered Bank, concluded her testimony on Thursday.

The prosecuting counsel said he had chosen to offer to the defence team the rest of his proposed witnesses, three of them, who were not called by the prosecution.

A few details of the petition filed on Monday by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress, emerged today, Tuesday.

The petition that is 141 pages contained five grounds, one of which resuscitates the allegation that Buhari was not qualified to run for the office of the President on the grounds that he did not possess the constitutional minimum qualification of a school certificate.

The petition, sighted by The PUNCH, was filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission, Buhari and the APC as the first to the third respondents respectively.

Names of 21 Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 18 other lawyers appeared on the petition.

They were led by Mr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN).

A French court on Monday handed Congolese singer Koffi Olomide a two-year suspended prison sentence for the statutory rape of one of his former dancers when she was 15.

Olomide went on trial after four former dancers claimed he sexually assaulted them several times between 2002 and 2006. The assaults allegedly happened in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as in France, including at a villa outside Paris where the women said they were held against their will.

The dancers said they managed to make a night-time escape from the villa in June 2006, and have not returned to their country since for fear of reprisals.

Prosecutors at his trial in Nanterre, outside Paris, had sought a seven-year prison sentence but the court dismissed the assault and kidnapping charges.
