My experience is extremely similar to yours except that mine lasted about 6-8 months.

The deal breaker for me was that I could barely concentrate on anything. Even in church, I'm refreshing livescores. I had nothing else to think of. Just forecast and play bet.

I knew I couldn't continue living my life like that. And it wasn't like I was always winning. It was a consistent cycle of wins and losses.

Na so I say bye bye to betting. Never again
Omoo. Nihilist captured it well, the depression of losing what you thought was a sure game and then coming down from the high of winning coupled with the immense time invested. O boy! The experience was definitely something.

DeadPresidents:
For me, the reason i quit gambling was very simple—in gambling you’re losing regardless of if you’re winning money or not.

How? Well, the time investment is the most expensive part of gambling. The time you devote to thinking about potential matches to bet on. The time you spend analyzing teams and making predictions. The time you spend watching games you have no business watching just because you bet on it. The time you spend coming down from the high of celebrating a win or to overcome depression from a loss.

Gambling is the biggest time thief. I figured out that if i used just 30 mins improving my coding skills everyday out of the time i was wasting gambling, i would make compounding gains and that was what i did.

My only regret is a nigga i knew who refused to stop and is currently 30+ with no plans of moving out of his uncle’s house while his juniors have started families and achieved success elsewhere
Very solid points made.
I remember sleeping very late in the night then, researching teams to bet on.
There is no League I didn't know then, every top team in Europe, south America and Africa. Especially Egyptian League, south African league, Ghana and nigeria.

I knew the highest scoring leagues and the lowest scoring leagues. Switzerland had tge highest scoring league, seconded by German second division, the lowest scoring was nigerian league, always under 2.5 and most likely for a draw.

I used to research managers that never make early sub because the odds for the first substitution in a match to take place at half time was 1.7 odds which was quite big. So I was always favoring Burnleys Sean dyche and west hams slaven bilich. Coaches that usually leave subs very late. Almost never using their 3 subs all in a match highest 2. Southampton too under pochetino, manu's Mourinho too.

You're very correct. I will be awake by 4 am in the morning because of matches in Brazilian league. Firmenese, copa this copa that. cheesy good old days. Then when I get to work, na when sleep go dey show me shege.

Gambling is indeed bad.

Well, for better context of this issue for me.
2017 was when I started earning for the first time in my life (salary wise) and my parents kinda gave me a very soft landing.

And I became a gambler who liked betting. And I was actually winning! And I think it was nihilist funny enough had always advised me to always use low odds. And I did, I was a fairly high staker, 10k, 15k 20k with low odds like 5-10.
And I will mostly post them here. I think my posts were what ignited the debates about gambling on the thread at that time.

Here are some of them then. You can see the amounts staked and then the balance in my bet accounts then.
https://www.nairaland.com/3585296/football-other-sports-betting-season/20#53027813

donjazet:
Chelseafan1, how does this look? Any risk here?

Where? I seriously didn't see. There were a lot yesterday so I couldn't go through all. Anyways what do you think about that this game I want to stake?

donjazet:
Pamcod and nateevs grin cheesy una no well at all ooo. That one na the congrats una go give me for my winnings today abi tongue wink issorite, continue. cheesy
Now, when you see these , you take note that I was wildly inexperienced with money, in terms of how to spend it judiciously, so in my eyes gambling was very lucrative, partly because I was winning and partly because I wasn't really feeling the effects of losing that initial money because again, (parents soft landing) renting house for me then and giving me their other car).
But Dayo consistently did advice me whenever I post those "winnings", that I really should try and stop. Others would hyping me and praising the winnings, while he would advice caution! Caution! Whatever you think you are making now, you would lose it later. Take your winnings now and leave.

And it wasn't until 2 years later when I found myself knee-deep in debt and gross financial ineptitude because of gambling that I realised what he had been telling me consistently.

Now I went from this post here made in 2017
donjazet:
I can tell you categorically that if you have the luck and you know what you're doing, you'll make it big.
It's close to six months I started betting and my winning rate is very fucking_ high. I have made excess of 1.8 million profit. No kidding. I am a high staker who places high sums on low odds.

I have used 50k to win about 200k on 4 occasions. I have used 100k to win 235k. I regularly use between 10k to 20k for between 3-5odds and my losses have been very few I can tell you.

It's simple, if you know what you're doing, you'll make it. The bulk of my games are just usually 15 mins draw and 2 or 3 wins.
And this;
donjazet:
No be joke, betting is the best thing to have happened to me in life. I have done 4 rollovers of 2- 2.5 odds and lost only once. I have a friend who used to bet since with 1k or 2k almost every weekend and some weekdays. I just advised him to do a rollover and be disciplined about it and gbam!!!, in 6 days he made 300k from 10k.

The problem with many punters is simply impatience, greed and a lack of strategy. I understand what ibime and Raumdeuter are saying but they're all sounding like everyone who gambles is a failure or is addicted and that assertion is totally false.
To this; 3 years later. grin grin
donjazet:
I have recently decided that betting is just a monumental waste of time, a never ending cycle of wins and losses that just leaves one emotionally drained and fatigued.

The earlier you desist, the better. Gambling is bad.
donjazet:
Not with betting. Why do you think that gambling companies don't go broke? Instead more keep springing up.

Gambling is addictive and that is very dangerous.
They say experience is the best teacher but dayo did actually help.

Yeah this was the very brilliant piece which will actually help me some years later. It was very helpful to me personally, (although at that time I wouldn't know it)

raumdeuter:
I will say dont start betting because you dont know where it will leave you. You probably wont know the type of inbuilt restraint you have

I knew I didnt have betting luck early, If we play dice for fun I will be winning once we put money I will start losing, same with Kashi So I stopped

But later I started football betting and felt it was more of a knowledge thing than just rolling a dice and hoping to hit 6. I started betting on Tennis and football and initially I won actually one of my big wins of $1,820 on a 12 game accumulator for some Euro U21 games that made the bulk of the money for my first car in US.

After that I became bolder, Friends will even come to collect picks from me. I had another near miss in 2009 where one game stopped a $6k win. I thought I had mastered it until I went on a 6months spree of back to back losses and several thousands of dollars

With TKB we would draw excel sheet of all games in Europe do several risk assesment (Pick only supposedly sure games where the gap on the league table between the teams were at least 10) review last 5 results put in a lot of informed guesses but we were copping losses back to back. I started making single games bet, In game bet. I remember World cup 2010 Ghana vs Serbia playing a drab game no one created any chance for 75mins, I just put $200 on the game ending in a draw, few mins later a Serbian guy from a non threatening position fouled in the box and Asamoah Gyan buried the goal and my money.

I also did a 12 game accumulator where everyone won but PSG, That game they had 32 shots to the opponent 5 and still drew.

It was after we have collected enough L's that tkb just brought the idea that assuming we go to the other side and we were the ones owning the betting shop and dishing nigg@s the L. We did several research and I had a discussion with my stat profesor and he told me statistically you can never lose by owning a betting shop because the low odds take care of the risk. "Owning a betting shop is illegal in the US but if its legal in your country go for it You can never lose"
That was what led him to start the betting company which has made him millions and continues to give

Today the economy of Nigeria has pushed many guys have gone into it not knowing what they are really doing. 1 million guys hook on to the story of 1 guy who won and all dive into it. Have they ever thought of it why the owners are becoming richer and they poorer.

I have guys even with good jobs in Nigeria who call me for football picks from Bundesliga

I have gone to Vegas to play poker with a little cash though for the fun of it
My betting account with draftkings has $300 unused sitting in it and I havent used for like a year,

Best advice, Dont start it. It will suck you in thinking your next bet will be your lucky break

He is too far right in terms of ethnic and tribal issues. No one should get away with consistently calling people cannibals because of their tribe.

Put summarily, there were some very brilliant Nazis. Infact German Nazis started the atomic bomb invention and had very brilliant innovators.
I mean, a German Nazi might absolutely hate and want to kill any jew but it didn't take away from the fact that that Nazi was a loving father to his family, a loving husband and perhaps a very academically bright person despite having a broken moral compass or rather a hateful one towards a particular group of people.

Well, maybe we're not far off from each other.
I'm of the opinion that he has to be held accountable for his action, that doesn't necessarily translate to him being unemployed forever. But the most important factor in justice as I said is "admission of guilt".

Right now, we are still at the stage where some people are outrightly saying that the dude is innocent. So far as that stance stands, it means justice and fairness especially is still elusive. I guess this is where we are divergent In views since we both accept that domestic violence is unacceptable.

His betting style is actually very sensible and he doesn't play that nonsense they call virtual soccer, anybody playing that one is doomed as far as I'm concerned. No money wey you make and win you can never use it to do any better thing. Your village people have won

I look at his options. He doesn't put those pesky useless 1.01 1.2 and other poverty odds. I rarely see him pick anything less than 1.4 and people don't understand it doesn't matter the odds the bookies only need you to be wrong once so that whole 'safe odds' is a myth

This FIBA basketball World cup coming now I already know he's going to cook something. There's another dangerous nigga Mr Banks. The damage he did that pandemic time with tennis. I was seeing niggas win 4k odds, 8k odds
Funny enough I have an uncle who has consistently played bet for years with quite a strict personal discipline.

What he does is that every single weekend, he uses 10k to play no more than 5 odds. Just 3 to 4 games. Every single week. No matter what, he doesn't play 2 times even whether the first game cuts or not. And he's has been quite a "success story". Later I would share the screenshot of his betting history. Sometimes he would win 2 weeks in a row and then lose like 5 time, he's won in a whole month 2 times in like 3 years. That's 4 weeks straight.

And he really does enjoy the thrill. Very few people will have that kind of strict personal discipline to overcome the temptation of just sticking to that odds and that amount every weekend.

Well said. I gambled for a while myself and later I found out it's something that only takes no money in sofar as you have a habit of betting.

When you listen to this and you then see the pictures, only a human being without a conscience and a broken moral compass will still dare to think he's innocent.

Talking about the Man United statement, of course it's all a PR exercise, it's all about branding and imagery of the club and what's best for the club, truth is highly circumspect especially when no information as to the actual "investigation" has been released publicly. All these efforts to see mason as anything less than a rapist despite the evidences abound is an exercise in futility.

Again, as a human being with a conscience, watch the clip again!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by donjazzet: 2:30pm On Aug 22, 2023
And let me make this point very clear.

People are rightfully angry with this Mason greenwood's case, not just because of the rape crime but because of the lack of consequence and accountability.

No one likes to see injustice prevails.
If in another world, when this came out, mason was sentenced, did his time, whatever and was rehabilitated, that is when you will see people clamouring for his reintegration into society and all.

That is when the narrative that he has "learnt" his lesson will fly. But in a situation whereby active cover is still given and there is still room for plausible deniability and some can come out and say, "he is innocent" despite all evidence to the contrary, that infalmes the fury of injustice.

No one likes when injustice has won. And the lack of accountability is why the western public hasn't moved on from him.

I think I've addressed this.

We may never know her motivations for still staying with him.

Right here, Ibime thinks he pulled a pimp_ move in order to evade justice

Ibime:
The girl went back to him and got pregnant. She is now his baby mother
The trial depended solely on her evidence so he pulled a pïmp move
But whatever was her reasons don't concern us as they're is no crime in her actions but what must still be called out is that mason greenwood raped a woman, until you realize that a heinous crime took place and people can't rationalize that crime and the fact that he has essentially evaded justice for that, you won't get it.
It's not only about the victim of the crime, it is the fact that mason greenwood raped someone, meaning he has it in him to be a rapist! And that is no small crime!

People are sentenced to death for this. People are castrated for this!
Mason greenwood is a piece of shit rapist!

[color=royalblue]What is even more disgusting is that the same woman is now carrying his baby, and living under his roof.

Well on a personal note, I think the woman is foolish, I think maybe she's more money induced but that's none of my business. Foolishness or golddigging is not a crime and in this case, no one is harmed.

BUT, still doesn't absolve the rapist, mason greenwood from the fact that he Indeed RAPED a girl. A crime was committed.

In this case, the victim might have had money -induced Stockholm syndrome but that doesn't mean that she still wasn't a victim of a crime.

A kidnapped victim might fall in love with the kidnapper, that doesn't absolve the kidnapper of his heinous crime of kidnapping people against their will.

So there you have it, 2 truths co-exist here, mason greenwood raped a woman and violently beat her up, the victim of the heinous rape is still in love with her abuser.

Mason is a terrible piece of shit violent rapist, the victim is as foolish or maybe a cunning golddigger who lives the money, still doesn't mean a crime hasn't taken place.
A crime which unaccounted for can still happen to another person and we might never know.
Mason is a rapist, the girl is foolish or cunning but there is only one crime there.

Sorry that you guys have refused to evolve from your hateful, archaic and revanchist mindset.

The western world is now a liberal haven with a value set that encompasses the treatment of all human beings with dignity.
The western society has no place for hate except for those who wish to habor hatred towards others simply because of what and who they are.

If you don't like it, you sign out, some watching their football, stop watching their movies, stop listening to their songs, just sign out but if you are going to continue to align with any part of their system, then you must be ready to embrace their value system, a system which is open and acceptable to all.

You all can drench in your rapist-loving sympathetic shithole of a society where tribalism, corruption, religious prejudice and violence continue to define the shithole we call a society here.
You guys only rail against injustice when it affects you but you will gladly support another injustice, shame on you guys!

You can moan all you want but mason will NEVER play in the best leagues again! He will relegated to the history bins of trash for being a rapist! You all rapist sympathizers can choke on that!

Empathy and kindness are virtues that can never go out of stock. It will never be old-fashioned to be kind and empathetic and this means holding people who have committed evil to account..

Mason greenwood raped a woman. Of that there is no question, we could all hear it happening. She begs him not to put his dick in there, he violently reacts and forces her to spread her legs. Anyone who condones rape is the worst kind of person out there. You literally support evil! You are evil if you are sympathetic to rape. If you can't understand why people would be livid seeing such a harrowing experience.

I will say this again, I am flabbergasted by your inability to understand nuances. You are dumbing down the conversation.
What happened to Gaddafi was jungle justice and one which on the surface the average man can align with.

Let me ask you this, if you hear that the north Korean public has revolted against their leaders and killed them, wouldn't you be happy that justice has happened?
What about Cameroon? Iran nko? Russia? Countries where their dictators have essentially declared themselves rulers for life.

How would you react knowing that the people themselves killed their own leaders?

Nice.
Do/did you support his killing?
I'm not equipped with enough facts on the issue to form a personal opinion on it.

But on the surface, I can understand why citizens will be happy to kill a dictator who has ruled them with an iron fist for more than 40 years. I can understand that but as I said, I don't have enough facts on the matter.

Says someone that calls all cultures in Africa barbaric and savage, saying they should be all wiped out. If my posts promoting good aspects of my culture and other native cultures of Africa are nonsense to you, then you've a big problem you're yet to realize.

I can't be discussing fictitious characters like Jesus on a Monday morning at the beginning of a new week when I'm swamped with work. The topic has no real value to be given such importance.

Intelligent people should understand that easily. My posts are not meant for dolts and are targeted at the intelligent few on this forum.
Please can we know who these people are in your opinion, because what we've seen is that every single person here who ever engaged seemed to immediately be presumed to be a "dolt" and unintelligent to you.

Do you really regard yourself as the most enlightened one and others as intellectually inferior?? grin. Please get off that high delusional horse my friend.
Your retorts whenever engaged have betrayed whatever intelligence you thought you have.

You spout sooo many untruths confidently and once challenged you seek to escape and then come back later and post further lies, who does that?

Bro literally stated that he supports jungle justice.
TWICE
There's this famous saying here, I'm responsible for what I type, not responsible for how you understand it. You continue to exhibit a flagrant misunderstanding of nuances.

I didn't say I support jungle justice as a form of justice but indeed there are some rare instances where I certainly won't mind. I specifically said, one where the judicial system has very obviously failed in carrying out justice especially for very worst politicians.

If you can't understand that single nuance, that's on you. Would I want a thief beaten and killed on the street before he has had his day in court, NO!. would I want a corrupt politician who stolen billions of dollars meant for building hospitals and schools stoned on the streets after going through the court and being declared "not guilty" based on corruption and technicalities? HELL YES!

Donjazet only wanted to be seen as a defender of Liberty but he seems to forget that true Liberty is about justice, fairness, equity, compromise and compassion where and when necessary.
There is truth in this, what you seem to be forgetting is that the first step of justice is the admonishment of guilt by the culprit. That is to say, the guilty party accepts that what he did is absolutely terrible, but in a situation whereby people are still making excuses for the culprit without recognizance of his fault exposes that unwillingness for the issue to be sufficiently addressed and justice meted out.

You can hear people still saying till now that the court has declared him not guilty when nothing of the such happened. So can you see that justice hasn't taken it's course yet?

I am truly disgusted that there are people here who will think to be sympathetic to a rapist and then cowardly try to hide under ethe banner of "Court did not declare him so". Like what the fvck is that? Since when did we wait for a court to dictate personal principles??

Even when we know a lot of laws are imperfect.

Is there any single person on this thread who thinks mason greenwood is actually innocent? I really want to know this? Like, is there any single fan on this thread who after hearing and seeing what is out there on greenwood genuinely thinks the guy is innocent?? Let me know the foolish criminals amongst us.
