Itsrm:Omoo. Nihilist captured it well, the depression of losing what you thought was a sure game and then coming down from the high of winning coupled with the immense time invested. O boy! The experience was definitely something. |
DeadPresidents:Very solid points made. I remember sleeping very late in the night then, researching teams to bet on. There is no League I didn't know then, every top team in Europe, south America and Africa. Especially Egyptian League, south African league, Ghana and nigeria. I knew the highest scoring leagues and the lowest scoring leagues. Switzerland had tge highest scoring league, seconded by German second division, the lowest scoring was nigerian league, always under 2.5 and most likely for a draw. I used to research managers that never make early sub because the odds for the first substitution in a match to take place at half time was 1.7 odds which was quite big. So I was always favoring Burnleys Sean dyche and west hams slaven bilich. Coaches that usually leave subs very late. Almost never using their 3 subs all in a match highest 2. Southampton too under pochetino, manu's Mourinho too. You're very correct. I will be awake by 4 am in the morning because of matches in Brazilian league. Firmenese, copa this copa that. good old days. Then when I get to work, na when sleep go dey show me shege. Gambling is indeed bad. |
izzou:Well, for better context of this issue for me. 2017 was when I started earning for the first time in my life (salary wise) and my parents kinda gave me a very soft landing. And I became a gambler who liked betting. And I was actually winning! And I think it was nihilist funny enough had always advised me to always use low odds. And I did, I was a fairly high staker, 10k, 15k 20k with low odds like 5-10. And I will mostly post them here. I think my posts were what ignited the debates about gambling on the thread at that time. Here are some of them then. You can see the amounts staked and then the balance in my bet accounts then. https://www.nairaland.com/3585296/football-other-sports-betting-season/20#53027813 donjazet: donjazet:https://www.nairaland.com/3585296/football-other-sports-betting-season/1035#55573421 donjazet:Now, when you see these , you take note that I was wildly inexperienced with money, in terms of how to spend it judiciously, so in my eyes gambling was very lucrative, partly because I was winning and partly because I wasn't really feeling the effects of losing that initial money because again, (parents soft landing) renting house for me then and giving me their other car). But Dayo consistently did advice me whenever I post those "winnings", that I really should try and stop. Others would hyping me and praising the winnings, while he would advice caution! Caution! Whatever you think you are making now, you would lose it later. Take your winnings now and leave. And it wasn't until 2 years later when I found myself knee-deep in debt and gross financial ineptitude because of gambling that I realised what he had been telling me consistently. Now I went from this post here made in 2017 donjazet:And this; donjazet:To this; 3 years later. ![]() donjazet: donjazet:They say experience is the best teacher but dayo did actually help.
|
izzou:Yeah this was the very brilliant piece which will actually help me some years later. It was very helpful to me personally, (although at that time I wouldn't know it) raumdeuter: |
izzou:Well, I've always said that he's quite insightful on some issues, he has a decent amount of exposure through which people can learn certain things. But my redline with Dayo is his political leanings. He is too far right in terms of ethnic and tribal issues. No one should get away with consistently calling people cannibals because of their tribe. Put summarily, there were some very brilliant Nazis. Infact German Nazis started the atomic bomb invention and had very brilliant innovators. I mean, a German Nazi might absolutely hate and want to kill any jew but it didn't take away from the fact that that Nazi was a loving father to his family, a loving husband and perhaps a very academically bright person despite having a broken moral compass or rather a hateful one towards a particular group of people. |
A40:Well, maybe we're not far off from each other. I'm of the opinion that he has to be held accountable for his action, that doesn't necessarily translate to him being unemployed forever. But the most important factor in justice as I said is "admission of guilt". Right now, we are still at the stage where some people are outrightly saying that the dude is innocent. So far as that stance stands, it means justice and fairness especially is still elusive. I guess this is where we are divergent In views since we both accept that domestic violence is unacceptable. But to be very clear, let me ask you this question very clearly; From your own personal perception, do you believe that Greenwood did physically beat and assault his partner?? Do you think he was violent to her Ina my way? |
TrebleChamp:Come on treble champ, I thought we were good?? Very surprised to hear you say this about me. |
A40:You have a contradictory nature. I'm confused that it's you making this point. |
raumdeuter:Funny enough when I was into betting few years ago, I remember you and nihilist actively discouraging me from betting. When I post my "winnings", nihilist would say, oga post the one you done lose, even though he himself too was betting oo. ![]() But in the long run I think it helped. I remember you telling me how in your university you guys would even use calculator and stick to a strict pattern of betting to experiment the success rate of betting, you and your friends and when the experiment failed was when you came to the conclusion that gambling actually doesn't pay. ![]() That was very good advice I must say. |
A40:Funny enough I have an uncle who has consistently played bet for years with quite a strict personal discipline. What he does is that every single weekend, he uses 10k to play no more than 5 odds. Just 3 to 4 games. Every single week. No matter what, he doesn't play 2 times even whether the first game cuts or not. And he's has been quite a "success story". Later I would share the screenshot of his betting history. Sometimes he would win 2 weeks in a row and then lose like 5 time, he's won in a whole month 2 times in like 3 years. That's 4 weeks straight. And he really does enjoy the thrill. Very few people will have that kind of strict personal discipline to overcome the temptation of just sticking to that odds and that amount every weekend. |
afrodoc2:Well said. I gambled for a while myself and later I found out it's something that only takes no money in sofar as you have a habit of betting. |
What Reddit has to say
|
This is how normal people respond to crime not what I'm seeing here.
|
patrickmuf:You came in attacking me today, even when I haven't done so to you. Perhaps a revenge trip? ![]() Anyways, it's not just the gory pictures my man, it's the live recordings which we all heard too. Maybe you should listen to it again and tell me you're objective opinion.
When you listen to this and you then see the pictures, only a human being without a conscience and a broken moral compass will still dare to think he's innocent. Talking about the Man United statement, of course it's all a PR exercise, it's all about branding and imagery of the club and what's best for the club, truth is highly circumspect especially when no information as to the actual "investigation" has been released publicly. All these efforts to see mason as anything less than a rapist despite the evidences abound is an exercise in futility. Again, as a human being with a conscience, watch the clip again!
|
And let me make this point very clear. People are rightfully angry with this Mason greenwood's case, not just because of the rape crime but because of the lack of consequence and accountability. No one likes to see injustice prevails. If in another world, when this came out, mason was sentenced, did his time, whatever and was rehabilitated, that is when you will see people clamouring for his reintegration into society and all. That is when the narrative that he has "learnt" his lesson will fly. But in a situation whereby active cover is still given and there is still room for plausible deniability and some can come out and say, "he is innocent" despite all evidence to the contrary, that infalmes the fury of injustice. No one likes when injustice has won. And the lack of accountability is why the western public hasn't moved on from him. |
izzou:I think I've addressed this. We may never know her motivations for still staying with him. Right here, Ibime thinks he pulled a pimp_ move in order to evade justice Ibime:But whatever was her reasons don't concern us as they're is no crime in her actions but what must still be called out is that mason greenwood raped a woman, until you realize that a heinous crime took place and people can't rationalize that crime and the fact that he has essentially evaded justice for that, you won't get it. It's not only about the victim of the crime, it is the fact that mason greenwood raped someone, meaning he has it in him to be a rapist! And that is no small crime! People are sentenced to death for this. People are castrated for this! Mason greenwood is a piece of shit rapist!
|
izzou:Well on a personal note, I think the woman is foolish, I think maybe she's more money induced but that's none of my business. Foolishness or golddigging is not a crime and in this case, no one is harmed. BUT, still doesn't absolve the rapist, mason greenwood from the fact that he Indeed RAPED a girl. A crime was committed. In this case, the victim might have had money -induced Stockholm syndrome but that doesn't mean that she still wasn't a victim of a crime. A kidnapped victim might fall in love with the kidnapper, that doesn't absolve the kidnapper of his heinous crime of kidnapping people against their will. So there you have it, 2 truths co-exist here, mason greenwood raped a woman and violently beat her up, the victim of the heinous rape is still in love with her abuser. Mason is a terrible piece of shit violent rapist, the victim is as foolish or maybe a cunning golddigger who lives the money, still doesn't mean a crime hasn't taken place. A crime which unaccounted for can still happen to another person and we might never know. Mason is a rapist, the girl is foolish or cunning but there is only one crime there. |
Well at the end of the day, JUSTICE WAS SERVED and the people ARE HAPPY! Sorry that you guys have refused to evolve from your hateful, archaic and revanchist mindset. The western world is now a liberal haven with a value set that encompasses the treatment of all human beings with dignity. The western society has no place for hate except for those who wish to habor hatred towards others simply because of what and who they are. If you don't like it, you sign out, some watching their football, stop watching their movies, stop listening to their songs, just sign out but if you are going to continue to align with any part of their system, then you must be ready to embrace their value system, a system which is open and acceptable to all. You all can drench in your rapist-loving sympathetic shithole of a society where tribalism, corruption, religious prejudice and violence continue to define the shithole we call a society here. You guys only rail against injustice when it affects you but you will gladly support another injustice, shame on you guys! This is the end for Mason greenwood! A rapist and a wife beater. You can moan all you want but mason will NEVER play in the best leagues again! He will relegated to the history bins of trash for being a rapist! You all rapist sympathizers can choke on that! |
BoldBrainz:I want to believe this account is a paid Russian propaganda poster, not an average nigerian. I strongly want to believe this. Because no African would be that far gone to believe what you just typed. I repeat this again, you cannot be railing and shouting about "western imperialism" and then turn around and support a far worse imperialist nation like Russia ESPECIALLY on African soil, not just it's neighboring countries but on African soil.. If you think Russia is Africa for altruistic purposes, I have a bridge to sell to you. Russia via wagner is already extracting rare earth minerals and other resources across African countries. It's like it's until these people enter nigeria that you would now know the risk they pose. Hmmm. |
Empathy and kindness are virtues that can never go out of stock. It will never be old-fashioned to be kind and empathetic and this means holding people who have committed evil to account.. Mason greenwood raped a woman. Of that there is no question, we could all hear it happening. She begs him not to put his dick in there, he violently reacts and forces her to spread her legs. Anyone who condones rape is the worst kind of person out there. You literally support evil! You are evil if you are sympathetic to rape. If you can't understand why people would be livid seeing such a harrowing experience. He should never be put in a position where he has to be a model for anyone. Celebrities are defacto models whether youike it or not. "Cancel culture" is about ensuring the most vile people are not put in positions of influence and power. If you are against this, you're mentality should be re-oriented.
|
A40:This life is very funny. I remember when we were diametrically on the opposite sides of the riots in Nigeria, some of your points were laced in empathy albiet deceptively but here you are, making fun of people who for all intents and purposes seek accountability. Need I remind you what exactly is enraging people? For God's sake we just experienced a woman being raped!!! How can you not feel enraged about it?? Where is the accountability. Mason did this to a girl. Look at this picture below 10 times and maybe let something in your conscience be pricked!! When did it become fanciful to be heartless and unepathetic?
|
izzou:Ohh, it has been an excellent news for the vast majority of their fans there which does tell you a bit about their moral compass at least compared to us here, rapist loving sympathizers who ironically like to denigrate them for the "evils" they had done to us ages ago. Life is indeed funny. But look at this thread below and see the excitement and relief from the fact that the rapist would never play for their club again. https://reddit.com/r/PremierLeague/s/ffdpjtNFBV |
Did A001 really expect anyone to read every single thing he wrote up there?? ![]() I'm actually very curious to know if anyone actually read that post from start to finish. ![]() |
Emaprince:Can you explain? I don't understand your post. |
A001:If I'm guilty of this, then you are too because what I can remember saying is that ASPECTS of subsects of African culture is backwards and we need to do away with them. Same point you too have made. Talking about killing albinos, restrictive women's rights, child marriage, marriage arrangements etcetera. We have both said that culture can also evolve so why on earth do you keep forwarding that point towards me like I want all Africans to entirely do away with all their culture? |
dreamxhaser:It's alright, I'm not offended by the questions. What I am is a liberal, an idealist and a humanist who cares about social justice and who cares about a fair and equitable society for all including the minority groups, the disadvantaged and the downtrodden. I guess this is what you all like to call the "woke mob" even though being "woke" literally means being awake and aware of the injustices and the fundamental prejudices that exists in our society.
|
akwesenana:I will say this again, I am flabbergasted by your inability to understand nuances. You are dumbing down the conversation. What happened to Gaddafi was jungle justice and one which on the surface the average man can align with. Let me ask you this, if you hear that the north Korean public has revolted against their leaders and killed them, wouldn't you be happy that justice has happened? What about Cameroon? Iran nko? Russia? Countries where their dictators have essentially declared themselves rulers for life. How would you react knowing that the people themselves killed their own leaders? |
akwesenana:I'm not equipped with enough facts on the issue to form a personal opinion on it. But on the surface, I can understand why citizens will be happy to kill a dictator who has ruled them with an iron fist for more than 40 years. I can understand that but as I said, I don't have enough facts on the matter. |
A001:Please can we know who these people are in your opinion, because what we've seen is that every single person here who ever engaged seemed to immediately be presumed to be a "dolt" and unintelligent to you. Do you really regard yourself as the most enlightened one and others as intellectually inferior?? . Please get off that high delusional horse my friend.Your retorts whenever engaged have betrayed whatever intelligence you thought you have. You spout sooo many untruths confidently and once challenged you seek to escape and then come back later and post further lies, who does that? |
akwesenana:There's this famous saying here, I'm responsible for what I type, not responsible for how you understand it. You continue to exhibit a flagrant misunderstanding of nuances. I didn't say I support jungle justice as a form of justice but indeed there are some rare instances where I certainly won't mind. I specifically said, one where the judicial system has very obviously failed in carrying out justice especially for very worst politicians. If you can't understand that single nuance, that's on you. Would I want a thief beaten and killed on the street before he has had his day in court, NO!. would I want a corrupt politician who stolen billions of dollars meant for building hospitals and schools stoned on the streets after going through the court and being declared "not guilty" based on corruption and technicalities? HELL YES! |
Amoto94:There is truth in this, what you seem to be forgetting is that the first step of justice is the admonishment of guilt by the culprit. That is to say, the guilty party accepts that what he did is absolutely terrible, but in a situation whereby people are still making excuses for the culprit without recognizance of his fault exposes that unwillingness for the issue to be sufficiently addressed and justice meted out. You can hear people still saying till now that the court has declared him not guilty when nothing of the such happened. So can you see that justice hasn't taken it's course yet? |
I am truly disgusted that there are people here who will think to be sympathetic to a rapist and then cowardly try to hide under ethe banner of "Court did not declare him so". Like what the fvck is that? Since when did we wait for a court to dictate personal principles?? Even when we know a lot of laws are imperfect. Is there any single person on this thread who thinks mason greenwood is actually innocent? I really want to know this? Like, is there any single fan on this thread who after hearing and seeing what is out there on greenwood genuinely thinks the guy is innocent?? Let me know the foolish criminals amongst us. |
