BRICS is an organisation that simply wouldn't last. They've been here for 15 years and have barely made a mark. Instead member countries have seen their growths all stunted. Brazil, Russia and South Africa. Not to talk about the fact that member countries are basically countries with very deep animosity between themselves. Saudi Arabia vs Iran (who sponsors Yemen's war against Saudi). India vs Russia who are in active hostilities in their borders. Brazil vs Argentina, the main continental rivals in South America with multi-decades animosity amongst themselves, Ethiopia embroiled in a current and active civil war within itself. It's basically a coalition of enemies within themselves whose only joint ambition is being "ANTI-WEST". Unlike the very powerful G7 whose common bond is their commitment to democracy and being wealthy. Japan,Canada, US, Germany, UK and France. All healthy democracies. BRICS wouldn't last simply because China shoulders the vast financial responsibilities and China is actually still poor in terms of GDP per person, just like India. For example, 2 families might be worth 1 million dollars, but if one family is just a family of 4 and the other is a family of 10, you can tell which is actually richer and can afford more luxurious needs. China would never be able to do what the United States does on a global stage , they just can't. Especially with their economy now slowing down rapidly and the west decoupling from them. |
BlueRayDick:I didn't answer that question because it's a very very foolish question undeserving of an answer. What does it mean exactly to be "doing dog things"? And how did that correlate to the point I had made? That question was basically the most stupid and foolish question one could have ever asked. I mean, the sheer impractically of what he was asking should have been his first clue of how incredible stupid the question was. "Doing dog things", does that mean the person would decide to eat only bones and eat foods not compatible to his digestive system? Does that mean the person would never speak again and bark till eternity? Does that mean the person would never stand straight again? You see? It's all irrelevant conjectures which is why I couldn't dignify that question. |
BlueRayDick:I wanted to give a very direct answer and just flat out say that my answer to this is just hinged upon the environment where I am but that answer will be testament to my cowardice in caring about opinions of people around me but me recognising the inevitability of it. But that wouldn't do justice to your question so let me give you a much better answer. At least for the purpose of general enlightenment. Your question is specific as to gender roles and identity and then sexual orientation of "my son". Well, to answer your question from a "personal principle" point of view, I will first tell you this, gender roles (what women and men are supposed to wear, eat and behave in a specific society) are a human construct. For example, think about this, in our society, women are the ones who are supposed to be braid their hair and style it while the men are supposed to cut it neatly even though a man and a woman's hair grows exactly the same. Today in our society, earrings have become a bit more popular for men, it is now more common to see men who pierce their ears or nose like davido, Wizkid and Ronaldo but just 20 years ago, any man who pierced his ears was seen as a "devilish" person because of our highly conservative society. Earrings were seen as an only women accessory even though it has basically been gender neutral many years ago. Talking about lipstick and makeup, 200 years ago in Europe, makeup was basically a class thing for the elite, the aristocrats and the royalty. Rich and Noble men wore wigs (today's lawyers wig) and makeup to signify their flamboyance and high status. Being bald was almost seen as a taboo or rather something for the poor and weak in society. Also 100 years ago in Europe, it was basically forbidden for women to wear trousers, trousers was seen as a cloth for only men while women were supposed to wear only long skirts, this was due to religious conservatism, today those standards have been dropped. Also when you factor in that some Scottish, monogolian and some African societies, their men basically wore skirt (or tied wrappers) or an absence of trousers, you see how funny it is that later we decided that skirts were for women only. Why am I giving you these examples? It's to show you how our standards are constantly changing and evolving. So for one to constrain one's child to only what society deems fit at the time at the expense of the individuals freedom and happiness would be a selfish thing to do. But one I know I might indeed be due to fear of mockery and ostracization from my largely ignorant society in which I find myself. As for his sexuality, again my main concern will be his happiness and fulfilment in life, if he finds a partner who makes him happy and loves him and he loves that person but that person is of same sex, it would be incredibly selfish of me to hamper that fulfilment and happiness of him because of what everyone around me would say and the shame that that would bring to me and my household because an ignorant and hateful society decides that it's a very terrible thing for 2 people in love with themselves are supposed to be constrained by virtue of their gender. Now if your question is if I would indeed decide to be selfish and hamper my child's happiness and potentially cut him off from me because of the societal standards, if I would be a coward and a selfish person who abandons my child because I seek validation from my surroundings, truthfully I cannot answer honestly until that time comes. But I certainly hope I will be strong enough for my child to back him up against all odds. |
Bombblacks:Is it possible to read this without a paywall? |
DeadPresidents:Okay I don't know much about her, so maybe you do but I was remarking on her appearance. I think she's subtly making a slight cultural impact on her twitter page. Not much but slight. People are getting to see a lesbian upclose and not just seeing the lesbian part but a brilliant person at least farcicaly |
DeadPresidents:How on earth does that picture make her toxic? Abi am I missing something? Those pictures are fvcking lit. They're both beautiful and in love. They're adorable. |
I wonder what you'll make of this though. As for me, I see the radiance of love and 2 very happy, grandly dressed and contented people.

seankafor:You make "male feminist" sound like it's a bad thing. Do you think that men shouldn't support women having equal rights, access and opportunities as their fellow counterparts?? You think it's a really bad thing? |
Emaprince:The issue of equal pay in women's football is relegated to only a single country. The US, one where the circumstances are also unique whereby the female team is actually stronger, successful and more popular than the male team hence them winning their case. I don't think any other female sports team is asking for equal pay. |
BlueRayDick:I believe that his poor response to the situation is what made it worse. If he had immediately offered an unreserved apology and acknowledged the perceived gravity of the issue, it wouldn't have escalated to this point. But maybe you're also right, maybe it's a targeted towards him for previous outstanding issues as ibime had suggested. |
seankafor:Atiku really dey worry Tinubu oo. ![]() Thanks to him, further revelations have been discovered. |
I've been trying to try and understand and rationalise the concept of transgenderism in the advanced societies of the west and I think this best captures the idea. I can grasp the logic of the position but the practicality is another thing. This post below best summarises it I think; So starting from the top, most people are born male or female, and identify as a man or woman respectively. The specific behaviors and expressions they exhibit are largely determined by their community, though there are some hormone driven behaviors. Trans people are also born male or female but exhibit, or desire to exhibit (as often there is significant social pressure against this), the behaviors and expressions of the opposite sex. This can also come with severe distress from being born in the "wrong" and gets particularly bad during puberty, this is gender dysphoria. For people who don't see a problem with transitioning, initiating that process is a no brainer. For those who believe this is a mental illness and needs to be treated, transitioning is the most effective treatment found for gender dysphoria and has far lower risks than not-starting the transition process, as well as an extremely low regret rate, even compared to vital surgical operations. |
Procashtips:"Known to be cruel", but you're supporting a dictator who just murdered 8 innocent people because he was targeting one of them. You guys hypocrisy is just too damn disgusting!! Fvck outta here with your double standards. You hate America because you believe that she is cruel, the same west whose biggest sin today seem to be their advocation for the rights of women and minority groups. Today America and the west preaches inclusion! Biden's administration alone has appointed top government officials that have roots in more than 37 different countries spread across the globe. Indian-americans, Nigerian-americans etc. Gay groups, lots of women etcetera. And even sef, bigots like you guys attack the west for trying to be inclusive to minority groups like the LGBTQ minority. You hate that people like these exist and I'm sure if you see a gay person you would follow those that will stone the person to death, but here you are talking about being cruel. Shove your hypocrisy up your assss. |
dvkot:Yeah right! You dislike that the US did this but then you like that Russia now decided to kill people too. So in your book, 2 wrongs make a right. This is the hypocrisy I'm talking about; you cannot claim to be very angry and sad and then rant about the US having killed people in another country, but then turn around to cheer Russia killing innocent Ukrainians. Launching multiple missiles into people's homes, reducing whole towns once filled with life to rubble. You see Russia's destruction in Ukraine and you cheer it on meanwhile Ukraine has never lifted a finger against Russia, unlike Iraq and Afghanistan that were actually breeding grounds for Islamic terrorist groups that sponsored and spread religious terrorism across different parts of the globe including in your very own country, Ukraine has actually never fired a single bullet towards Russia but Putin today is attacking and killing thousands of innocent Ukrainians who didn't ask for this and you're cheering it on. The name for that is HYPOCRISY! Standards for thee but not for me. |
Katcall:True. I was expecting him to at least be a good ball-carrier like Kante. Someone who it will be very difficult to collect the ball from but alas, early days still. |
Ibime:And it doesn't even look fine to me. I don't know why I generally dislike dreds. I think it makes people uglier. Unlike nice carvings. |
WriiterNig:Just a reminder.
|
Ballzproblem2:Don't hope on that. This team is still in purely experimental phases. Don't set expectations at all. |
Amoto94:You didn't reply my earlier request. Please help me out there. |
All of you will enjoy this match better when you just set no expectations for the team. You might say "it's fvcking Luton", to which I reiterate, this is a brand new team, 11 players who have never played together before. A lot of players still resettling and readjusting, they are up against teams that has an already cohesive team, a team which have played together for a longer period of time. I go into every Chelsea match now with a blank mind. Anyhow I see it, I take it. To save yourself stress right now. Don't set expectations. At least for 3 months and when other players are back from injury. |
You guys should please lower your expectations. This is a brand newly assembled team. They won't come flying off the box. Mistakes will be made, lessons will be learnt and time is needed. We can't start applying pressure to this team. They will need time. |
Amoto94:Please you once gave me a distinction between a Moslem and a Muslim or Islam, I can't recall, can you re-educate me on that? |
Ibime:Damn this is really bleak! Gosh. Very depressing. |
afrodoc2:Very well said, I completely agree with you. I guess this opinion is influenced by your immense exposure to their kind of civilised society. Nice. |
odizeey:The thing is, western societies are really big on accountability. Public image matters a lot for them. That's why resignation is a very common thing there. Be it for their politicians or corporate public faces. Once there's a hint of a scandal, the person quietly gives way. And it has proven to actually be a good thing because it's sets a very high standard of conduct for all sorts of public officials. Not like our type of society where no matter how bad a person is at his job or terrible unethical thing he commits, Na die him go die there because he no send public accountability and he knows that after a few months like you said, the whole thing passes over. So at least you yourself can tell which society is better, the one that sets very high standards for public faces or the ones whose public faces never give a damn about perception and accountability. Choose the one you prefer wisely. |
timay1:It's not about the person, it's about the action. Very simple question, if the player was a guy, would the president have kissed him on the lips like that?? If you can answer that question honestly, then you can rationalise the problem here. |
Jokerman:Yeah, I've observed that these Saudi clubs have been targeting predominantly Muslim players. |
ShaqFu:This is very funny to read, coming from you because you are one of those who mocked the efforts of your fellow Nigerians who aimed to carry out a political revolution in this country last election. We consistently blurted out how voting labor across board will definitely flush out the cabal that has held this country in bondage seeing as the new government will know that it rode on the back of the populace to win and not because of any "powers behind the scene". For example look at the elected labor party members today, more than 60% of those elected are first timers on politics, ordinary Nigerians who rode on the popularity of Obi and the masses to win their seats. No godfather sponsoring them, you think that if they had a significant majority, there wouldn't be something different from what we see now? They wouldn't be more incentives to kick against the forces that have held this country down? There wouldn't have been incentives to deliver results knowing exactly who put them there and gave them that power? Please your hypocrisy stinks. You can't complain about "Cabala behind the scene" while you yourself campaigned and voted for that status quo to remain despite being warned. |
