My friend. You ran away when I quoted scriptures that has exposed your lack of scriptural understanding. Now you're here again. If I quote scriptures that will prove your pastor an Olodo, you will disappear again. Isn't it your pastor that said masturbation is good? Isn't he a divorcee? Lol. Do what I say but don't do what I do.
My friend, you need to know and have deep understanding of the Bible. Don't let these wealth obsessed liars called pastors deceive you.
If I don't have convincing scriptural backings on a topic, I dare not express my opinion on that case to anybody. That's how true Bible students roll bro. Funny enough, I didn't even recognize your monicker until now. Amazing how you move around NL peddling false doctrines. I would have engaged you in an argument but you no reach. Dude, sorry to burst your bubble, Jesus isn't coming. Forget those stupid things the Op outlined, prepare your heart, get about doing the work of soul winning cos HE IS SURELY COMING BACK. 2Peter 3:3-9 3Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. |

Maximus85: Hmmmm. Who's an ignorant Christian here. My Personification does not prove personality comment even when supported by the scriptures doesn't make sense to you and you blatantly disregarded it. And you are not ignorant? I will take my time to repeat those scriptures and if you're true and sincere with yourself, you will go through them. But I don't expect you to think differently. We make no statement without the scriptures. The only scripture you've been quoting is John 16:13. For you to compare other scriptures for better understanding is seen as ignorance by you.
Wisdom is pasonified just like Holy Spirit: Proverbs (1:20-33; 8:1-36
Also at Matthew 11:19 and Luke 7:35, where it is depicted as having both “works” and “children.”
The apostle Paul personalized sin and death and also undeserved kindness as “kings.” (Ro 5:14, 17, 21; 6:12)
He speaks of sin as “receiving an inducement,” ‘working out covetousness,’ ‘seducing,’ and ‘killing.’ (Ro 7:8-11) Yet it is obvious that Paul did not mean that sin was actually a person.
Be sincere and ask yourself, if personication is well used by Jesus and other apostles in the case of wisdom, undeserved kindness, sin and death, isn't it obvious that that same applied in the case of Holy Spirit? Keep an open mind my brother. There's a whole lot you can learn. The Holy Spirit never acts on His own. That doesn't mean He is merely a force.. He is more than that. He is a person and He always points to Jesus. John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. Don't get me wrong, I know you will still come forward with another rejoinder... Maximus85: First of all, I really do appreciate the fact that you know where to find these things in the Bible and it's the best way to start understanding the scriptures.
Now, I'm sure you know and understand what personification is. If a pronoun is ascribed to the Holy Spirit, thereby making it a person, then I want us to examine other parts of the Bible where other things are personified.
Personification does not prove personality. It is true that Jesus spoke of the holy spirit as a “helper” and spoke of such helper as ‘teaching,’ ‘bearing witness,’ ‘giving evidence,’ ‘guiding,’ ‘speaking,’ ‘hearing,’ and ‘receiving.’
In so doing, the original Greek shows Jesus at times applying the masculine personal pronoun to that “helper”.
However, it is not unusual in the Scriptures for something that is not actually a person to be personalized or personified. Wisdom is personified in the book of Proverbs (1:20-33; 8:1-36). Will you now refer to wisdom as a person because it's been personified? Can wisdom actually speak literally? Can it raise its voice?
I have plenty other instances where things are personified. But it doesn't mean they are a person.
What do you think?
I can show you the rest if you're interested. I think i recognize you... those ideas of yours have already been flawed. well.. If i get two people who speak in tongues. Seperate them in different rooms. Have one record something on videotape while speaking in tongues, then have him/her write down the translation of what the speaker said and then go with the videotape to the other room, and play back the tape And get the second speaker in tongues to translate the language. I'll bet my head..they can't get it and the translations wont rhyme for similar words! Yes because they are words of the spirit. and we cannot finish prophecy (or interpretation) in this earth, talk less of in a single service. 1cor 13:9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part |

analice107: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 1 Corinthians:13:1
This shows us that there are Tongues of men and there are Tongues of Angels.
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another DIVERS KINDS of TONGUES; to another the interpretation of tongues: 1 Corinthians:12:10
These are the tongues of men.
This is a gift. And this is what happened on the say of Pentecost, where Jews spoke Chinese, Spoke Medes and strange languages. They didn't know they were speaking those languages, but those who heard them, understood them. These tongues needs interpretation. For instance, if a the Holy Spirit takes up an Efik man's Mouth and begins to speak Nupe language, a Nupian will have to interprets to the Church what the Efik man said. This is gift.
BUT, the below is not a special gift. It is or shd be for every believer.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 1 Corinthians:14:2
Speaking in tongues is unto God and Angels, "Spiritual".
Speaking in Other (diverse) kinds of Tongues are the Tongues of men, speaking to men. So because the gift of tongues is for every believer it is not special or supernatural Okay, So the gift of salvation is not special or supernatural because it is for all? Your mixing things up... Take time to read my reply to scholar8200 above and never forget this: It doesn't have to be SPECTACULAR to be SUPERNATURAL. |

Scholar8200: This wrong notion is based on hearsay and even contradicts the Bible! How did the people understand them in Acts 2:8-11 if what was spoken was language of angels? That was an act of God. He opened their understanding such that each of them listening understood the "drunken" noise coming from the upper room in his/her own language. For he who speaks in an unknown tongue is not speaking to men, but to God; for no one understands him. Yet in the Spirit he is speaking secret truths. -1cor14:2 That however doesn't rule out the possibility of a person supernaturally receiving ability to speak a human language he never learned. The bible talks about diverse kinds of tongues - 1cor 12:10 Arch Bishop Idahosa (of blessed memory) spoke 10 languages of men supernaturally. Several years ago, Rev Dr. Chris Oyakhilome while preaching in a certain village faced difficulty as his interpreter wasn't interpreting correctly. Suddenly, that unction came on him and he preached in their native language supernaturally and they understood him. However what the disciples spoke in Acts 2:8-11 didn't have to be tongues of men as 120 spoke at the same time. Those listening could only have heard loud noises. But the Spirit gave them understanding. |
