In life, nobody can stop you if you make up your mind to achieve a certain tangible goal. The only person that can stop you is you. No need for excuses.... Excuse is the reason for bad result. As a matter of fact, there are 1 million reasons why you can't achieve your target, but you have to look beyond the excuses, if not, you will remain stagnant. |

My advice goes thus, provided you are doing nothing for now and the said GT program aligns with the career path you want for yourself, kindly accept the offer, be prayerful and hope that better opportunities locate you at the end of your time with the said company, best wishes in your future endeavors bro. No responsible and or reputable company would draft such contract. It's a red flag. He shouldn't accept it. |

PavillionEnergy: Hello Nairalanders, I need advice regarding this opportunity.
I applied for an Engineering Graduate Trainee Position recently. I wrote the aptitude and technical tests and passed. I also attended the interview and I was successful.
The Contract Form was sent to me and I saw some clauses that I need to discuss here before I append my signature.
1. The training runs for two years before conversion to a full staff.
2. You cannot terminate the contract for the training once you sign. You must stay for the full two years.
3. There is a canteen at the factory, but you have to buy the food.
4. There is no full HMO benefits but the factory has a clinic to attend to medical needs of the trainee.
5. The gross pay for the first year is 50K. The gross pay for the second year is 70K and from the third year, you earn 100K.
6. The company does not offer accommodation for the trainees.
7. I am not sure if the company uses staff bus.
8. Work is Monday to Saturday. 9:00AM to 6:00PM. Although Saturday work ends by 1:00PM
NOTE: I stay in the FCT so I would need to relocate. The company is in Lagos. Don't take it bro. Try and source for funds by all means necessary and leave that Country. I bet you won't regret it. |

She shouldn't collect money from her husband's friend without the knowledge of the husband. That's betrayal of trust. |

Supreme145: A close friend of mine invited me to a birthday party he threw for his girlfriend a couple of days ago. I initially declined the invitation but reluctantly agreed when the girl called me personally and pleaded with me to show up.
When it was time to get ready for the party, a peep into my wardrobe reminded me that I had no outing cloths. I hadn't gotten a new cloth for over 4 years. My sapa induced introverted nature somehow masked my need for new stuffs because I hardly go out. A sad reality hit me hard in the face... My two jeans and three tee shirts were badly worn out, no shoes either.
I shaa dressed up and left for the party. I immediately regretted my decision of honouring that invitation immediately I stepped into the venue. I looked so out of place... Guys were all dressed up in nice cloths and latest gadgets, I normally don't let those kinda stuffs bother me but I felt terrible that night.
I sat at a corner observing things till my friend's girlfriend came and yanked me off my seat to take pictures with some of her friends. A friend of hers used an iPhone with three cameras at the back to take the pictures, didn't know the model since both 12 and 13 looks similar.
I went and sat back at my corner till the photo guy came and offered to transfer some of the pictures to me... I hesitated because I knew I didn't want to see the pictures but the guy was persuasive so I gave in. If only I knew the embarrassment that was lying in wait for me.
We proceeded to connect to xender, that was when my antiquated camon CX air that I've been using since 2017 decided to show himself. My phone kept rebooting on its own endlessly till the guy got fed up and left. I was super embarrassed.
My friend still came today to transfer the same pictures to me but I objected vehemently because I looked miserable in all the pictures. I codedly observed guys in my compound dressed up for church and Sunday outings and came to the conclusion that sapa has been my best friend for a really long while.
HAPPY SUNDAY Keep your head up bro. The table will soon turn. I assure you that. That's life for you. |

Typically, before you can be issued a certificate of sponsorship (COS) by your potential employer. You must have been offered employment in the UK which meets the minimum pay for immigrants.
On accepting the offer, you go through some screening which varies amongst employers. Every employer/organization have specific onboarding activities which varies from background checks, filling of forms, signing some agreements etc.
You are expected to also have prove your knowledge of English language, TB test results (All this have been stated in the first post).
Once you submit all the necessary documents to your employer, they will start processing your COS. You don't have to do anything else but wait patiently till they send it to you. Once you receive the COS, you quote the COS ref number on your visa application.
Let me know if there is any other contribution you think might be helpful. What if you are already legally in the UK for like 6 months before you got the Care Home that wants to employ and sponsor you, do you still need to write IELTS? |

Champay: Good afternoon everyone. Please I need sound advise. I have a bachelor degree dated 2012. A masters dated 2014. Same course. Currently undergoing my PHD which I started since 2019. Same course. But for ASUU strike, I would have my PHD certificate at hand now. Now, I want to apply for a masters degree (very close course to the one I did for my Nigerian masters) in the UK. Hope that won't affect?
And again, is my PHD admission letter enough to serve as proof of PHD? I could add my first year and second year PHD results too. Will that suffice? Even though I intend to write a cover letter stating why I strongly believe going to the UK to obtain a masters degree in the same course would be so beneficial and prospects filled. Why not apply for a PHD instead? |

MrBrownJay1: whatever you do, if you go, dont put your family through unnecessary stress... so make sure you have a valid plan in place. it would be unwise for most to leave a ₦600K paying job to go hustle abroad, but then again, we aint in your shoes. 600k Monthly Take home in naija is actually nothing. I have been there, done that. That's not much. I relocated to the UK February this year, I make over 700k weekly here. In some cases, over 800k. I can send you my payslips if you doubt me. Truth is, If you are very hardworking and you know how to think outside the box, you will definitely make it in UK. Money dey this Country sha as far as you are ready to put in the work and cover as much shifts as possible. I came in with a dependent visa cos my wife is a Student. Hence, I don't have restrictions when it comes to work hours I wish to work/cover. This Country na for hustlers. As in, na for people wen get strength and energy to hustle. One good thing is that, we are being paid weekly. But the truth is, abroad isn't for everyone. If you no fit hustle for naija, e go hard for you to fit hustle here. In other words, if you lazy for naija, you go lazy here too. Be that as it may, moving to UK is not a decision every hardworking Nigerian would regret. NB: If you come in with student visa, your work hours tends to be restricted though. Hence, I will advise your spouse should apply via student visa route, and you guys should come together so that you will have enough time to hustle since your visa wouldn't have work hours restrictions. And again, I think the money you are able to make here is also a function of your location/city. There are places where their hourly pay rate isn't quite high but you will still have made some millions in naira at the end of the month. Personally, relocating to the UK was one the best decisions I have made in life. No regret. |

Pamelayoung: Good day everyone. Thank you all for your contribution on this thread.
I'm new here and would need clarifications on some issues. First my program is a 2-year diploma night course. I purposely choose the night option so as to be able to work during the day. I have a provisional offer from the institute, which I have accepted though I am yet to make the fee deposit and write IELTS. My program start date is September 2022. I'm apprehensive that I am starting the application a bit late, following information gathered here concerning wait times for TB screening and other requirements. My question now is if I start application now, will I meet up with September start date? Secondly, can I book a date for the TB without having started an application. At this point what's the first thing I should do? Write IELTS or start the application? Night course. Wonderful. This is strange. |

The issue with the school isn't about getting unconditional admission offer, but issuance of CAS. It's quite an herculean task. They may disappoint you at the end of the day, even after paying your tuition deposit. |
