Politics › IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu To Drag Buhari, Security Agencies To UN, ICC by DONSMITH123(op): 5:33pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has threatened to drag the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to the United Nations (UN) and International Criminal Court (ICC). His lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said Kanu will go to any legal length to get justice over his incarceration. “We must get justice, we are at the ECOWAS court already from there if they (the FG) do not obey the orders we will head to the African Union, United Nations and ICC,” he told Naij. “We must compel the federal government; we are all partners in democracy and must ensure we protect this
“And let me also say this, all executives, presidents, governors and all, their immunity will elapse someday and they will face justice at the ICC.”
Ejiofor added that his team was building its case against the president, some Nigeria security agencies and some public officers.
“We have various indicting reports on the FG on the killings of IPOB members and Biafra supporters including the Amnesty report on the killing and we will make good use of all this”.IPOB recently stated that the Federal Government cannot win the trial against Kanu with the primitive law operated in the country. http://dailypost.ng/2017/01/23/ipob-nnamdi-kanu-drag-buhari-security-agencies-un-icc/

John Ameh, Abuja
Members of the House of Representatives said on Monday that the current pricing template set for premium motor spirit by the Petroleum Products Price Regulatory Agency is “fraudulent.”
They insisted that PMS, otherwise known as petrol, should not have cost Nigerians more than N70 per litre.
Lawmakers noted that if unnecessary charges built in by government regulatory agencies were removed, the price of the product would have been below the current post-subsidy N145 per litre.
The revelations came in Abuja as an ad hoc committee of the House on the Review of Pump Price of Petrol opened a public hearing at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The committee, which is chaired by a member from Imo State, Mr. Nnana Igbokwe, grilled PPPRA, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Customs Service officials and other industry players, including marketers.
For example, lawmakers established that the 30k built into the template by PPPRA as “administrative charge”, was needless because the National Assembly also approved a separate budget for the same purpose.
Igbokwe tendered a copy of the 2016 budget as evidence, wherein the sum of N1.3billion was approved for PPPRA to cover the cost of hiring six cargo inspectors.
“In the 2017 budget, which is before us, PPPRA has a proposal of another N500million for regulation, monitoring and supply of petrol.
“This budgetary provisions have already taken care of the purpose for which you charge 30k on the template, yet Nigerians continue to bear the burden by paying N145 per litre”, Igbokwe added.
The committee also queried the rationale of the 84k built into the template as port charge paid to the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Lawmakers stated that while the money was meant to provide ports services, including dredging to accommodate larger vessels, the services were never provided.
“This has left Nigerians in a situation whereby they still pay for lightering services for smaller vessels that go to Cotonou or Lome to offload products from mother vessels.
“PPPRA will then add the cost to the pump price and ask Nigerians to pay”, Igbokwe added.
There was a mild drama at the hearing when the Abuja Liaison Officer of the NPA, Mr. Okon Ephraim, told the committee that the NPA did not know how PPPRA arrived at the 84k due to his agency.
Ehpraim’s submission angered lawmakers. They immediately summoned the Managing Director of the NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman, to appear at the next sitting of the panel. http://punchng.com/reps-fault-n145-fuel-pump-price-accuses-ppra-of-fraud/https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/punchng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/11222033/Fuel-dispenser.jpg |

He said, “The coffers are largely empty.
“Over two weeks, over 500m dalasi ($11 million) were withdrawn” by Jammeh, adding that “As we take over, the government of The Gambia is in financial distress.”
Fatty also alleged that a Chadian cargo plane had transported luxury goods out of the country on Jammeh’s behalf, in his final hours in power, including unknown number of vehicles. Now, where ECOWAS? Is this guy going to answer his deeds or free? The people cannot go hungry coz of Jammeh |
Foreign Affairs › Gambia: Yahya Jammeh Stole $11m, Exported Luxury Cars – President’s Aide, Fatty by DONSMITH123(op): 2:22pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
An aide to the newly inaugurated President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, Mai Fatty, has accused the ousted leader, Yahya Jammeh of stealing over $11m and shipping out luxury vehicles by cargo plane.Addressing reporters in Dakar, Senegal, Fatty said the new administration met an empty treasury. He said, “The coffers are largely empty.
“Over two weeks, over 500m dalasi ($11 million) were withdrawn” by Jammeh, adding that “As we take over, the government of The Gambia is in financial distress.”Fatty also alleged that a Chadian cargo plane had transported luxury goods out of the country on Jammeh’s behalf, in his final hours in power, including unknown number of vehicles. Jammeh initially insisted on clinching onto power, despite his defeat to Barrow during the December 1, 2016 Presidential election in the country. Despite his insistence, Barrow was last Thursday sworn-in as President in the country’s embassy in Senegal. After much mediation, Jammeh eventually conceded defeat and was flown out of the West African country in a private jet reportedly owned by a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu. The former President who is believed to have been flown to Equatorial Guinea on exile, went in company of his wives and mother. http://dailypost.ng/2017/01/23/gambia-yahya-jammeh-stole-11m-exported-luxury-cars-presidents-aide-fatty/

There is confusion at Oke Baale area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, as some policemen allegedly opened fire on some students of the Osun State University while playing football on Saturday morning.
Our correspondent gathered that that two students were hit by the bullets. One of them identified as Abiola Kazeem, was said to have been hit on the stomach and was rejected at two hospitals before he was taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Osogbo where he is now being treatment. The other victim, Ibrahim , was said to have been hit by the bullet in the mouth. He is currently receiving treatment at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital at Jolayemi area of Osogbo. Some students living in the area told our correspondent that the policemen came to the football pitch and started shouting Yahoo boys, Yahoo boys and thereafter opened fire on the students. The Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students in the South West, Mr. Saheed Afolabi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent. He said he rushed down to Oke Baale area to find out what happened and he was one of those who took the students to the hospital. There is massive protest on major streets of Osogbo by students of the university and they are being joined by their colleagues to protest the shooting. There are bonfires in some area by those protesting the shooting. Some protesters, who gathered in front of Oke Baale Police Station, attempted to raze down the station but policemen on duty resisted them. The DSA said she gathered that the policemen, who were not on uniform, were brought to the playing ground in a vehicle with no number plate. The DSA said that residents of the town are the ones protesting the shooting now because they consider the action as barbaric. It will be recalled that UNIOSUN students had staged a protest at Oke Baale late last year on the grounds that policemen always come to exhort them with trump up charges. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Folashade Odoro, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone. She said, ” The Commissioner of Police has directed that a full scale investigation should be conducted into the matter. Anybody who is responsible for the dastardly act will be brought to justice.” http://punchng.com/breaking-policemen-shoot-uniosun-students/
