Social media celebrity and one of Nigeria’s most popular cross-dressers, Idris ‘Bobrisky’, Okuneye has taken his fame to a new height by monetising it. The University of Lagos graduate of accountancy who specialises in selling bleaching creams, organised an event in England over the weekend where he charged £20 (N8,000) for selfies. The event, tagged ‘Meet, greet and chill with Bobrisky,’ was held at the Northpole Shisha Bar, Greenwich High Road London. SnapChat videos from the event also revealed fans ‘spraying’ pounds sterling bills on an ecstatic Bobrisky. The London party comes barely a week after a client went for the cross-dresser on social media, accusing him of taking money from her for a package of bleaching cream without delivering the package. Bobrisky denied the allegation. Bobrisky was also recently invited to speak on a social media engagement panel on the unconventional use of social media. His inclusion on the panel led to a heated debate on social media, as two of the panelists pulled out, citing the inclusion of Bobrisky as reason. Ade Adesomoju, Abuja Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja and his wife, Olabowale, who is the Head of Service of Lagos State, were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, on charges of receiving gratification, but the arraignment could not proceed because of their absence. The defendants were absent because they had not been served with the charges. The trial judge, Justice Jude Okeke, adjourned the matter till December 13, 2016, after the defendants’ lawyer, Mr. Jeph Njikonye, volunteered to accept service on behalf of his clients. Lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Segun Jegede, had told the trial judge that court bail bailiffs attempted to serve the couple with the charges but they were said to have travelled to Lagos. He said he was going to ask the court to give an order for service on the defendants through substituted means but that was no longer necessary as the defence counsel had approached him before the proceedings commenced volunteering to accept service on behalf of the defendants. Jegede urged the court to grant leave to serve the defendants through their lawyer on the strength of section 382(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. Njikonye, although, expressed readiness to accept service on behalf of his clients, said he was not aware of attempts to serve the couple personally and so section 382(5) of the ACJA was not application. The defence lawyer however submitted that the court under its inherent powers grant the leave for service. Justice Okeke, in his ruling, said record showed that a court bailiff attempted to serve the defendants in Abuja, on December 2, but were said to have travelled to Lagos. http://punchng.com/justice-ademola-wifes-absence-stall-arraignment/

Youth leaders in the nine states constituting the Niger Delta region have called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to quickly set up its negotiation team to discuss with their leaders on the crisis rocking the region. The youth leaders, under the aegis of Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council, made the call in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, after rising from their crucial meeting on the state of the region. The meeting was attended by youth leaders from Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Urhobo Progressive Union Youth Wing Worldwide, Itsekiri National Youth Council Worldwide, Ndokwa Youth Council Worldwide, Edo Youth Council Worldwide, Ikwerre Youth Council Worldwide, and Ibibio Youth Council Worldwide, among others. The President of IYC, Mr. Udengs Eradiri, who briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting, said the youth leaders advised that if the Federal Government desired peace, security and development of the region, it should do the needful by urgently constituting its own negotiation. The youth leaders recalled that since the November 1, 2016 meeting between the Niger Delta leaders and the Federal Government, the Federal Government had yet to set up its own dialogue team to interface with their leaders on the problems in the region. In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the youths urged the Federal Government to quickly set up its negotiation team to urgently resolve the crisis in the Niger Delta. They added that the whole world was waiting for the government to do the needful. “As it stands, the knife and the yam are in the hands of the Federal Government regarding the Niger Delta crisis,” they stated. The leaders also urged the Federal Government to stop the invasion of the Niger Delta communities, insisting that there were better ways to resolve crime in the region. Besides, they asked the government to deploy its intelligence apparatus in the resolution of the problems, noting that it had been discovered that intelligence had recorded more successes than the option of military invasion. The leaders stated, “The recent invasion in Delta State had more of children, women and the elderly as major casualties. We call on the Federal Government to do more on intelligence to resolve the issues. “But above all, the political will on the part of the government will better resolve the issues than military option.” They also urged the government to quickly resolve the legal issues relating to the Maritime University in Delta State, insisting that such a move would discourage vandalism and destruction of critical national assets in the region. US trained journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, is not coming out of jail any time soon. The Snitch Lady said this after an Abuja Federal High Court denied Kanu bail. Recall that Kanu, alongside Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, were re-arraigned by the Federal Government on 11 count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony and publication of defamatory matter. Justice Nyako recently took over the trial of Kanu following the withdrawal of the former trial judge, Justice John Tsoho, over allegation of bias leveled against him by the defence team of the pro-Biafra agitator. However, the popular media personality whose public criticisms of people knows no bounds, took to her Facebook page to advise Biafra supporters. Madam KOO, as she is fondly called, wrote: “Biafra my LAST ADVICE to you in 2016 is to take it or swallow it with a grain of salt. “This Christmas, the Nigerian military has launched #OperationPython. “Try to agitate and they will SIMPLY KILL YOU. The Amnesty report doesn’t bother our government. “Even your GEJ watched the army kill boys and men in #Borno state with no accountability. “Stay at home and enjoy your families. #NnamdiKanu aint coming out soon. “The only two people that could have done that are the Igbo leaders who are not united and the #British government who support Aso Rock in labeling Kanu an alleged terrorist, which I believe, after calling for mass murder of Nigerians on his radio show. “Na by force? #BiafraOrDeath killed his case. “He brainwashed you, he paid for it! I warned you, you ignored me. “He was offered freedom in exchange for ending agitation and he refused. One year old child in UK and wasting his family life,” she added. The timely intervention of the police in Enugu prevented the lynching of Mr Kingsley Ubenyi, the Managing Director of Kesley Mega Micro-Finance Bank, by the bank’s aggrieved customers on Friday. The spokesman for the Police Command in Enugu, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the rescue of the bank boss came as a result of prompt intervention of a police patrol team after a security tip-off by some members of the public. Amaraizu said the incident happened at about 5pm on Wednesday at the De-Dome Event Centre in New Haven, Enugu. He said reports reaching the police indicated that hundreds of aggrieved customers of the bank were seen striking the managing director, who was forced to sit in his vehicle, which was later damaged by the irate crowd. “The aggrieved customers maintained that they are customers of the micro-finance bank and that despite repeated efforts to withdraw their money in their savings accounts with the bank, no light was seen at the end of the tunnel. “Not long after, a meeting between the customers and the managing director was convened at De Dome event centre, New Haven, Enugu, where the bank boss tried to explain the difficulties faced by his bank over the payment of customers’ money. “This (the explanation) did not go down well with the aggrieved customers, who got violent and descended heavily on him before the intervention of the police operatives,’’ he said. Amaraizu, however, said the aggrieved customers were advised to be law-abiding and to seek redress by taking the lawful step to access their monies. “The managing director is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital,’’ he said at the time of writing this report. http://punchng.com/police-prevents-aggrieved-customers-lynching-bank-md/
