The Senator representing Ogun East District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has denied rumour of his suspension from the Peoples Democratic Party. This denial came hours after the Ogun State chapter of the PDP had allegedly suspended him and six others for their role in the crisis that engulfed the party in Ondo State. Their suspension reportedly took immediate effect on Friday, November 25. Others allegedly suspended with Kashamu are: Messrs Bayo Dayo, Pegba Otemolu, Semiu Shodipo, Fatai Adeyanju, Segun Seriki, Daisi Akitan and Bowale Solaja. Details later…. Femi Makinde A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has suspended a former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities. This suspension of Omisore and other PDP chieftains is contained in a statement issued on Friday and signed by Chairman, Mr. Soji Adagunodo and the Secretary, Mr. Bola Ajao. Apart from Omisore, the Adagunodo-led executive also suspended the chairman of the other faction of the party, Dr. Bayo Faforiji; Bunmi Jenyo; Chief Ojo Williams and Bade Falade for the same offence. The statement read, ” The state executive committee received recommendation from various wards to local governments and senatorial districts, to suspend the following PDP members : Dr. Bayo Faforiji, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, Chief Ojo Williams and Hon Bade Falade. “In accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution, and inherent powers vested on the the State executive committee of the party, the said individuals are hereby suspended as recommended.” The Adagunodo-led faction said Omisore should go and clear his name from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before seeking to participate in the affairs of party. Although Omisore could not be reached for his immediate reaction but one of his allies told our correspondent that the suspension was a joke , adding that the former deputy governor would react soon. But a faction of the PDP loyal to Omisore had on Thursday expelled the national secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo and Adagunodo. The factional chairman of the party, Dr. Bayo Faforiji, who made the announcement during a congress at the PDP secretariat located along Osogbo/Gbongan Road on Thursday also expelled the immediate chairman of the party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa as well as Secretary of Adagunodo-led executive, Bola Ajao. Faforiji alleged that the expelled PDP leaders were involved in instituting the suit which nearly prevented the PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede from participating in the election. http://punchng.com/breaking-osun-pdp-suspends-omisore/

JOHN ALECHENU, ABUJA Embattled Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Timi Frank, has said the attempt to force him out of the party could spell doom for the APC. Frank said this in Abuja, on Thursday, in response to news that the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee of the party on Wednesday upheld the recommendations of a panel set up by the South South Zone of the party. The panel had recommended for his immediate suspension and subsequent expulsion from the party for making disparaging comments about the party and its chairman in various news outlets over time. Frank threatened to sue the party’s National Chairman for contempt of court since according to him, the latest pronouncement was in contempt of a subsisting court order asking both parties to maintain status quo ante. He challenged the party hierarchy to make public minutes of Tuesday’s NWC meeting where the said decision to uphold the recommendations of the panel was taken. In a statement he personally signed, Frank said, “Any attempt to suspend or expel him from APC will break the party. “I dare the National Chairman to convene NEC meeting and see who will be removed between two of us.” He also said, “The claim by one of Odigie-Oyegun’s foot soldiers, (Mr.) Oji Ngofa, that NWC had taken a decision to hold on with the report of a kangaroo zonal committee that recommended my suspension was a blatant lie. http://punchng.com/attempts-force-will-break-apc-timi-frank/

In apparent defiance of an Appeal Court ruling that set aside the Justice Abang judgement that ordered INEC to publish Jimoh Ibrahim’s name as the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for the November 26 election in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim has vowed to continue with his campaign. The three-man panel of the appeal court led by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, in a unanimous judgment delivered on Wednesday held that Justice Abang acted without jurisdiction when he made orders against those that were not parties before him. The appeal court also nullified the primary said to have been conducted by the Biyi Poroye-led state executive of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party which produced Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of the party in the state. According to a report by The Interview, the candidate of the Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, Ibrahim, dismissed the ruling, saying “the judgment is very vague; it is nebulous and ambiguous.” He added, “The court did not make a consequential order asking INEC to remove my name; so nobody can remove my name from the ballot. The judgment is very vague; it is nebulous and ambiguous. INEC cannot dare to remove my name. “INEC will pay billions of naira in damages if it dares to do that. What will it be acting on? There is no consequential order. The order is empty; it’s an empty voyage of discovery! “I’m continuing my campaign. Nobody can stop me. “Yes. I’ll invite you to the victory party on Sunday, after the election.” http://punchng.com/pdp-candidate-nobody-can-stop-jimoh-ibrahim/
